Good to get something rather than lose Anderson to the rule 5 for nothing.

This is the type of move a lot of us have thought should be made every year.  Don't have a clue what type of prospect Schales is, but getting someone unlikely to be lost in the draft makes sense.  

 

Expect they thought there was a better than 50/50 chance Anderson was gone.

Agree Twins are going to lose people.  Might as well get something for a few of them.

Anderson is one of those aging minor league guys on the cusp. You can ask "should he get a shot with the Twins" instead of, say, Matt Magill. But, yes, better to get someone you don't have to protect for someone you have to protect who is further down the pecking order than you think.

His minor league stats are good, but doubt any team will want to waste money to stash him.  Just trading areas of need, or minor league infielders in the Twins case.

Yeah, like most everyone else that's posted, I endorse the move too. And having more minor league depth at third base seems like a good idea.
