Vargas might as well be a ghost runner at this point.

He might also end up being the first guy ever to be thrown out while advancing on defensive indifference.

My brain can't create a scenario where pinch running Andianza for Vargas could benefit the 9th inning whatsoever. The only scenario was that the Twins tie it up and it ends up being a net negative.

Vargas is pretty darn slow, he could get caught going to 3rd or at home where Adrianza may not. The chances of this happening are very slim but I can understand the rationale.

If it wasn't a 3 run game, I'd agree with you, but whoever the 3rd base coach is, should have the "hold" sign on at the crack of the bat.
