Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 So I got here late, caught up on TiVo, and in the first three defensive innings we have missed two backhand GB's, and did not block a low ball with a guy on first. The low ball was a garden variety ball right in front of Centeno. I don't know whether the two grounders could have been turned into outs, but both should have been fielded. Our defense up the middle is cr*p!Welp, I looked up JRM's stats in Rochester. He's hitting like .223 sooo

Platoon Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Welp, I looked up JRM's stats in Rochester. He's hitting like .223 sooo I don't remember mentioning Murphy? I also don't remember him being a good defensive catcher when he was here, and Zuke can't throw. But I do remember the Twins seemingly not understanding defensive importance vs offense at certain positions!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Been a bit slow around here lately, eh Lloyd?
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 You talking about the season or this game? My sarcasm meter is in the shop for repair!

There hasn't been even a whimper about bringing up any catcher.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Kepler 10-51 since the Cleveland series
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I normally stay away from baseball on GT, but I am so tired of crappy defense. You can bury a Sano at third with that kind of bat, but you cannot get away with an all offensive middle of the defensive lineup! Sheesh! (Ok, I am done now)

I don't mind the baseball talk about the baseball game on the baseball message board I hate to say this, but I've seen almost the entire game on television, and I have no idea what plays you are talking about, except for maybe a slow grounder up the middle the Dozier didn't pick that would have been an infield hit regardless. I admit I might have missed a play that didn't figure in the scoring however.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 There's some nice defense there. And timely

CampQ Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Kepler 10-51 since the Cleveland series I saw a statcast item on Kepler: his average launch angle is around negative 5 degrees. Seems he hits too many grounders
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 That's 29 foul bunts tonight --- who lay down the lucky 30th!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 The way dick just said "this is not a good bunting team, Bert." just made me LOL
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I'll tell ya, centeno just seems to have a knack for the big hit
GCTF Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Gee, too bad they didn't bunt there.
CampQ Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Gap double after failed bunt. Awesome!e
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Hmm, surprised Gibson is staying in.
Guest Guests Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Buxton would be one of the scariest hitters in the league if he could make contact like Centeno, of all people.

As I said, I am not contending the grounders were gonna end up outs, but both were gloveable.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Uh.... Why no pinch hitter? Is Molitor awake?
CampQ Verified Member Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 The crazy thing is that Bert will lament the lost art of bunting without then reaching the obvious conclusion that continuing to ask your team to do something it isn't any good at is a tactical failure
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Uh.... Why no pinch hitter? Is Molitor awake? What?? And take out the starter before he coughs up a lead??? Dude, no offense, but that's why you're here on the internet, and he's in the dugout.
