Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 It will be interesting to find out which secondary Marvel characters turn up in Doctor Strange, Luke Cage, and Ironfist. Also, Agents of SHIELD had small Easter eggs for both Daredevil and Damage Control this week.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 This Daredevil season and Agents of Shield themes really depresses me as an X-men fan. Sell the rights back Fox, for the love of god. Before the Inhumans are further trumped up as something other than D-list schmucks.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 The comic book/super hero genre is getting beaten into the ground, this was bound to happen but we are starting to see quantity trump quality at this stage. It's kind of annoying to be honest, we are probably missing out on some more interesting flicks because the big boys are just going to keep tossing out comic book movie after comic book movie.

I would like a little less and I'm a comic nerd. Then again, without saturation we'd never have Deadpool...so it isn't all bad.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Although I'd argue that the higher quality generally offsets the higher quantity. I'm looking at you, The Mask, Spawn, Dolph Lundgren Punisher, Batman & Robin, Meteor Man, Darkman, The Phantom, The Shadow, Howard the Duck (although I have a weak spot for that one).... Edit -- How could I forget Swamp Thing???
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 I kind of liked darkman for some reason......it is not explainable.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I kind of liked darkman for some reason......it is not explainable. I also enjoyed both Darkman and The Phantom for their schlockiness.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 June 23, 2017. Knowing Hollywood, won't Gal Gadot be too old by then?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 plenty of quality in the Netflix shows. they are rockin the superhero genre DD season 2 was good, but it was about three episodes too long and they certainly don't employ writers that can create any kind of decent legal storyline, which is kind of an issue considering DD's background. I think Netflix also needs push for quality over quantity before the novelty of these shows wears off.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Knowing Hollywood, won't Gal Gadot be too old by then?I still hope they find a way to have Lynda Carter make an appearance.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Did anyone try to watch that Ashton Kutcher show? So not funny.......
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Did anyone try to watch that Ashton Kutcher show? So not funny....... Never heard of it. I'd ask you for more details, but I won't waste either of our time as I can't imagine I'd watch it anyway.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 On the bright side, I read Sherlock Season 4 has started filming, which also implies Doctor Strange has wrapped primary shooting. Hoping for trailers soon.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 For which one? I might actually be looking forward to Sherlock more.I believe the Doctor Strange trailer is due next week, when Cumberbatch is on Jimmy Kimmel. Probably too early yet for Sherlock.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I believe the Doctor Strange trailer is due next week, when Cumberbatch is on Jimmy Kimmel. Probably too early yet for Sherlock. I was kidding, mostly. Just voicing my appreciation for Sherlock. Some plots can be a bit theatrical, but so is the production value, in a good way.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Speaking of Sherlock, has anyone watched Elementary? The character progression and Jonny Lee Miller's performance are really engaging. It's more of a straight-forward procedural but there are many aspects of it I prefer over the BBC Sherlock (which is great in its own right). It's the only portrayal of Holmes I've seen where the creators realized that an insufferable know-it-all will grow tiresome so they've worked to slowly move the Sherlock character forward as a human being.
jimmer Verified Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 What's funny is that the Johnny lee Miller and cumberbatch both play Holmes. They also did frankenstein on stage together. they would switch back and forth on who played the doctor and who played the monster from performance to performance.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 I kind of enjoy Elementary.....but I just don't watch much anymore. Who watched the Rouge One trailer? Nice....and, another female lead. The wussification of the Force continues...... /s

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Darn auto correct, or me.......and yes, we always do (at least us older ones that remember the jokes).

The wussification of the Force continues...... /sThe trailer looks awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by the female lead. Complaining about female leads is an aspect of geekdom I cannot understand. Oh noes, I'm going to be forced to watch a beautiful woman kick ass on-screen for two hours! The agony!

I checked it out on IMDB and saw the titles of the comments down below. I couldn't help myself and interjected in one of them but then had to get out as it would have been a losing battle that would be fought until those 15-year-olds move out of mom's basement, presumably about when they turn 30. If anyone has seen a scientific study as to why this certain demographic hates/fears women so much, forward it my way. I can't imagine it's all because of the trope that they've never been and never will get laid.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Author Posted April 13, 2016 Oooh, thanks for the reminder to watch that. Off to the phone, since that's blocked at work.....brb.....
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2016 Author Posted April 13, 2016 Doctor Strange. I think I'm in love, and I have no idea why.......
