DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Let's avoid major spoilers etc, figured this would be a decent thread to make reccomendations for shows etc. You're the Worst- Hilarious show on FXX, can't reccomend it enough. Crude, but has a lot of heart to it. The Bastard Executioner- Kurt Sutter's follow up to S.O.A., 3 episodes in and I am about to drop it. It tries to be a more edgy and less smart GOT IMO and just comes off as more boorish and gross than anything else.Fargo- Season one was amazing, can't wait for season two to start. Homeland- Starts up soon again as well, seasons 2-3 were terrible, but last season might have been the best yet. Color me intrigued/interested. SouthPark- Still got it! Ash vs Evil Dead- Comes out around halloween, might be the first real reason to order STARZ ever.Bonus:NARCOS- Netflix seems to have hit a home run again, have seen the first 4 episodes and pretty impressed thus far.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Heroes Reborn - Terrible, just terrible. It's as if no one who took over starting in the second season of the show never saw the first season. It keeps regurgitating on the same tired, boring lines.

I tend to steer away from network tv in general (though Hannibal was AMAZING, and Gotham has been pretty "solid") I saw the first season of Heroes which I thought was pretty solid, but it went down from there in a heartbeat, a half assed "reboot" struggling isn't a big shock.

Yep. Gotham is solid. I am a sucker for crime drama - Criminal Minds, CSI, NCIS, SVU, etc., but even the new stuff along those lines seems so much worse than those staple shows. I will say that I've thoroughly enjoyed Arrow and Flash on CW.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Gotham's second season has started out VERY aggressively. It's got me intrigued.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Gotham's second season has started out VERY aggressively. It's got me intrigued. I'm excited and also a bit hesitant with what could be for the season. Coming out this strong could lead to a big let down, or it could be a harbinger of a very strong season all the way around.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I actually was going to say "excited" but I backed it down to "intrigued" because the show had so many issues last year. And I still don't know how they bridge things with a Bruce character so much younger.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I had high hopes for Heroes Reborn, but yes, a disappointment so far. Fear the Waliking Dead might prove itself with a strong ending. So back to the standards; Doctor Who, Agents of SHIELD, and the Walking Dead.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Has anyone watched Blindspot? I thought the first two episodes were pretty solid. I also have enjoyed Limitless. The main character (Jake McDorman) is funny and a good guy to relate to and root for.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 South Park (on its 19th season!!) is a home run every week with no signs of slowing down. Stan Marsh IMO is the funniest character on TV. How to Get Away with Murder is starting off strong for season 2. Modern Family is also a home run every week. Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Sarah Hyland. Need I say more?

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I'm looking forward to Fargo. Season 1 was amazing. Hope I'm not disappointed in season 2.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 I'm looking forward to Fargo.Season 1 was amazing. Hope I'm not disappointed in season 2.I have a lot of faith in it, I believe the showrunners and everything are back. Season 1 had some amazing performances with Billy Bob Thorton and company, season 2 has some nice actors as well: Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Ted Danson? Color me very excited.
FattCrapps Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I just hope they come up with some original storylines for the new season of "Fargo". The first season was pretty much the same as the movie, but of course not nearly as good.

The first season was pretty much the same as the movie, but of course not nearly as good.I disagree, the tv show was a completely different story, it existed in the same universe and had a few "winks" to the audience, but I thought it was very original, and very clever. This season takes place back in the 70's I believe, it will exist in the same universe but will be a completely different story. As far as "movie vs TV" it's hard to compare the two, I can say that Fargo was my favorite TV show last year and one of my favorite of all time. Ditto with the movie.
FattCrapps Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 A lot of it (for me) had to do with the ****ty actors. William H. Macy >>>>>>> Dude from the HobbitSteve Buscemi >>>>>>> Dude from Dazed and ConfusedEvery actor on planet Earth >>>>>> Colin Hanks >>> Jeff Gray
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I assume you mean Randy Marsh?Yep. Epic brain fart there...

Hopefully they can keep it up, but I don't know how you do 10+ episodes with this concept.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Hmmmm.....no cable, so only streaming and local tv...... Uh, Castle? My one "how the heck are you watching that" show..... We are approaching the final season of Leverage on Netflix......will probably move onto Torchwood or finish Warehouse 13 after that.....and yes, none of that is current or on topic.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Is Homeland worth catching up on? I gave up on it a couple episodes into season 4. The 1st season was off to a great start, seasons 2 & 3 went down hill quickly...
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 The decision, if they stick with it, on Gotham this week could be a huge mistake. That kid had sold me as the Joker, without that element this could go back to Season 1 Gotham in a hurry.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 That was surprising, to say the least.Yeah, I really don't get it. This show has enough issues without eliminating show stealing performances.
