DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think you gotta keep Polanco up and give him a shot at SS everyday. Perfect time to cut Robinson? Make Santana the temp 4th OF/Super util guy? Or you could send Santana down to AAA of course.
Otwins Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think you nailed the two choices. I would send Santana back to AAA so he could play SS everyday. I think Robinson may be gone when Buxton is ready although they may delay that until close to September 1st.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Send Danny to AAA where he can play everyday.
drjim Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Santana goes down before they cut Robinson.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I get the feeling that Robinson is going to last the season. Same with Boyer. They are not great, but the team views them as veterans who are doing their jobs (modest and limited as that may be). Personally, I think they have enough interesting OF options to mix and match and not need Robinson, even with Buxton on the shelf.

If they were going to get rid of Robinson and/or Boyer they'd have done so already. I think we're stuck with both. Mlb.com predicts that the Twins will acquire John Axford tomorrow. Not a flashy pick by any means, but it would be an upgrade at the most vulnerable area

He has been relegated to the lowest leverage. He was kept around to minimize shuffling at the deadline. No one else makes more sense to get rid of.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 No way on Axford, he is tanking right now. I want Lowe from the Mariners and Cespedis from the Tigers, you pull the trigger on those two and you have enough sharks in the pool the hang with the rest of the Sharks. Doubtful that Detroit will do a deal with us though and they might not move Cespedis at all.Who sits for Cespedes? If this team improves, corner OF isn't the spot.

He is nothing great or very good, but he would be an upgrade and would come at a friendly price. I don't understand the need for Cespedes though. The outfield is going good for the most part and we have some guys waiting in line who have some upside. Why would you trade for Cespedes? A flawed, over priced, but talented baseball player who in all actuality would not improve our ball club in a game changing way. That seems like throwing away high upside prospects for a 2 month rental of (Yawn).

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Santana to AAA makes too much sense. Rotate Polanco and Escobar. Ta-da, now you don't need to trade for a SS - at least until 2016. But that makes too much sense. I see Polanco going back to AAA because "reasons".
