Weather: I'm not far from the Cell, so when I step out onto my balcony it feels warm and sunny with a slight breeze. Mid-upper 70s. It feels good.

Lineups:

TWINS

Dozier 2B

Robinson LF

Plouffe 1B

Hunter RF

Suzuki C

Escobar 3B

Nunez DH

Hicks CF

Santana SS

May P

WHITE SOX

Eaton CF

Cabrera LF

Abreu 1B

LaRoche DH

Gillaspie 3B

Ramirez SS

Shuck RF

Flowers C

Sanchez 2B

Sale P

------------

On the fly here ... thoughts.

1. Sale. Hmm. He's tough and we've handed him his only loss this year. He's coming off a pitcher's duel game against Cleveland. I'm hoping for a stellar outing for May as he's gonna need it going up against Sale. Unless we can do to him what we did last time. Which leads to the next thought.

2. Bats. We need to connect and knock Sale out of there. Hope is a good thing and no good thing ever dies. So here's hoping ...

3. Chicago ... the fan might be called 'white trash' from some outsiders, but they are actually good fans and know their baseball and are loyal to their team. I talked to some fans sitting near me when I was at the last game and asked 'Who would you rather beat ... the Cubs or the Twins?' It was a test. When they said 'Twins' they got my seal of approval.

4. And that's all I've got in the two minutes it's taken to post this.

5. Play ball!

I was also waitin' in the wings... This is what i got:

Weighting until the last second. That's heavy, man.

Like Jupiter heavy. Some team has spring training in Jupiter. Apparently it's a long bus ride, so the regulars don't make the trip so often. But, like olympians practicing at altitude, in might give an advantage to be in differing atmospheric or gravitational conditions... As i'm pretty sure it isn't Chicago, i guess i've been distracted from this game thread. Sorry.

Only having performed drive-bys of the windy city, i've never experienced the actual gravity of playing the white sox. Last i checked the standings, they were breathing down our necks, so every game counts (well, counting being what it is, every game always counts, or you wouldn't be counting) or rather i mean winning matters.

Anyway, as you can see, i'm not really focused on the game...

Atmospheric conditions (wikipedia) 20-200 kiloPascals (where an (earth) atmosphere is 101 kPa) the wide range is due to an atmosphere of roughly 90% Hydrogen, and 10% helium under about 2.5 earth gravity, and well, clouds which probably have other stuff.

I don't think the Red Spot is anywhere near, but if it comes through, the er, rain delay will be significant.

Oh, you mean in Chicago? 73 degrees and partly cloud, as per the site i got the line up from... Baseballpress.com.

And the players are...

Pitchin' fer da Twins: Trevor May {R}

Bsttin' fer da Twins:

1. Brian Dozier {R} 2B

2. Shane Robinson {R} LF

3. Trevor Plouffe {R} 1B

4. Torii Hunter {R} RF

5. Kurt Suzuki {R} C

6. Eduardo Escobar {S} 3B

7. Eduardo Nunez {R} DH

8. Aaron Hicks {S} CF

9. Danny Santana {S} SS

Pitchin' fer da Sox{W}: Chris Sale {L}

Battin' fer da Sox{W}:

1. Adam Eaton {L} CF

2. Melky Cabrera {S} LF

3. Jose Abreu {R} 1B

4. Adam LaRoche {L} DH

5. Conor Gillaspie {L} 3B

6. Alexei Ramirez {R} SS

7. J.B. Shuck {L} RF

8. Tyler Flowers {R} C

9. Carlos Sanchez {S} 2B

And a final thought... If the ball orbits the earth once, and is caught, is it a homerun, or an out? similarly if it lands in foul territory? Or fair territory? Though i expect the point is moot, as the necissary speeds would likely destroy the ball. Is that a homerite, or a homeroid?

No emergencies here.

It's a sleepy Saturday afternoon.

That is good to hear. It is probably one of those "emergencies" what only occur upon the internets.

A virtual emergency, if you will.

Anyway, slowly figurin' my way to turnin' the game on...

This year, Mauer is 5 for 9 against Sale.  So he gets the day off.

So he'll be available to pinch hit a home run in the 13th! ;)

And I forgot to mention in my 'thoughts' ... Paul Konerko Day, as I mentioned yesterday. It's a sell out crowd at the Cell.

1-Ticks--Okay, so the other day I went to a SNA in my area, and it was infested with these little parasites, and our little party collected quite a few, twelve in all, I believe was the final count. Well, anyways, when we got back in the car and headed home someone quickly found #1, and it was sentenced to a throwing out of the window, but I believe that was unconstitutional because "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence." I can say that the trial was speedy, but the jury was not impartial, but I will now move onto the next tick; this particular creature fit the usual definition of a Wood Tick, similar to Justin Bieber or Richard Sherman, or maybe I should just say unpleasant, and received the same treatment as the last, as did the next one. The fourth tick was a Deer Tick, and was sentenced to drowning in the sewer, but I guess describing what became of these ticks is getting tiresome, but I have a few more stories to tell you. Once there was a Deer Tick that hopped on a person who was walking in the woods, and a while later a Wood Tick hopped on, and they both went crawling up to the person's head, but these two vile vermin were unaware of each other, but eventually the Deer Tick looked over it's shoulder and saw this big Wood Tick, was very impressed, and decided that this Wood Tick was it's hero. Another thing I want to tell you is that if I ever find another tick it will wish it would have never hatched.

2-Scott Boras--Last time I hosted a game thread I was talking about comparisons, and I came up with another. I believe that Scott Boras and Percival C. McCleach were a lot like each other, if you don't know who Boras or McCleach are, one was a poacher, and the other is an agent, which is a white-collared poacher. Well, I guess I better get on with it, but sometimes you have to wait for it. McCleach's slimy salamander, or in Boras' case, Alex Rodriguez had the same relationship with their agent, (or poacher, if that is how you want to put it). Here is a video of Boras and A Rod:

3-The Draft--I don't know what else I should write about, but the thing that I have been writing about the most is the draft, which is on June 8th, and I'm really looking forward to it. The draft is the highlight of my year, unless something really significant happens, like trading Kevin Corriea. Well, this draft has been very hard to evaluate, but I think that the biggest bummer was Kyler Murray going all Muhammad Ali and dodging the draft, and I had been hoping that the Twins would cut an underslot deal with him. :( But the best thing is draft night, and seeing how far off you were, or how close you were in your mocks, and then finally your team is on the clock, and they select...

This draft will be harder to project, but in my opinion that makes it more fun. :)

4-Wins--The Twins are 5 games above .500, and they are looking pretty good, and our top prospects aren't even up yet, so it will be really fun to watch them when the big names come up, but they could hit a speed bump, which I am afraid I have done with game threads, but some people on here might be delighted because the game threads will probably be shorter, but just to remind them, when a car goes over a speed bump, not just the driver, but everyone in the car gets their neck jolted, and so I am warning them that when I go over a speed bump they will too if they are on the game thread, and if their neck pains last long enough they might be headed to a chiropractor.

5-War and Peace--People have been talking about game threads becoming tributes to War and Peace, and I thought this might be nice for them:

The blasted schedule said the game was not starting until 6:10, so I got the thread up way too late, and then I saw that ChiTown, got it up, so I guess I will apologize to the moderators because the schedule lied. :banghead:

Sorry we over reacted.

Is it my imagination, or was the fanfare played during the fireworks used in disney's black hole soundtrack?

Probably both referring to something earlier that i, in my limited classical music background, was not familiar with.

Ah, i'd be strangely comfortable with a 2 hour number retirement ceremony...

If the ball survives reentry to land or be caught it would be referred to as a homerite.  While in orbit it would be referred to as a homeroid.

Okay then Master Sgt Serious. Lol ... that seems a bit redundant.

Awww, this is all my fault. I entirely take the blame. I assured Hrb over and over that the game didn't start until 5:10, and we were going to do it together. But, I LIKE this!!
