Did anyobdy see the list of 800 players ranked by I think it was MLB.  http://m.mlb.com/fantasy/preview/y2015 The Twins highest ranked guy was Dozier, way down the list. What was significant to me is that Joe Mauer was the 9th highest ranked player ON HIS TEAM. Dozier, Perkins, Hughes, The Santanas, Vargas,   Arcia and Hunter were all ranked above him.

Not sure if this means the Twins are better or Mauer has really slipped in the minds of the national media...

If you click on Mauer's picture they say that he has "bounceback potential."

They also say: "Mauer struggled through a tough 2014 season in which he posted career worsts in average (.277) and strikeout rate (18.5 percent) across 120 games..... But with an outstanding batting eye, the 31-year-old should continue to reach base at a strong rate -- even if he does not bounce back fully in the batting-average department.

A lot of OK players. The stars and superstars will have to develop from the young players. On a related note, I've seen posts noting how few vacancies there are on a team coming off a 90-loss season (and this is compounded by having a new manager). This tells me that the base is in place--but that the prospects need to develop to be very good or better than that or this club will continue to disappoint.

It's a fantasy article.  Joe Mauer's fantasy value was 100% wrapped up in being a catcher.  Heck, even his season last year was one of the better catching fantasy seasons, but as a first baseman, it's subpar.  Big difference between fantasy baseball and real baseball in individual player value.  If there weren't, no one would ever want to play Andrelton Simmons or Juan Lagares on their team.

Wow what a joke of an article.

Mark DeRosa wasn't in the top 100 which makes it laughable, not being in the top 800 makes it treason against America.

If he can get his wRC+ back up to his career averages, he'll be an above average offensive 1B, but in fantasy leagues that place so much value on the HR and RBI, and that's a good chunk that do, he may might always be subpar at 1B.

I wouldn't put Joe Mauer anywhere near the top of any fantasy list. As a first basemen, he's just not spectacular in the fantasy world. However, given the chance to get Joe Mauer on the field somewhere, instead of nowhere, I would make room to have Joe on my team, even at first base where he doesn't have fantasy value, he still has real life value. And I think he'll be considerably better in 2015 to the tune of .297/.385/.450.
