Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Wow. Do the Twins have anything left in the tank? The Twins recalled Pino and are facing some guy named George Runie Farmer. He goes by Buck for obvious reasons. Two pitchers. A combined MLB experience of 60.1 innings. This is going to be a real nail-biter, I can feel it. Lineups:
big dog Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 The Tigers optioned last night's starter and Ian Krol to the minors and brought up two more lefty relievers. Fresh meat!
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 So here I am last night minding my own business watching the Twins blow the 6-1 lead. Pressly has just thrown a wild pitch to put Kinsler on 3d and intentionally walks Cabrera to get to Martinez. So I tells myself, I'm not going to put myself through this yet again and figure the Tigers will win something like 12-8. So I turn off the game. This morning go to the At Bat app on my phone and see the Twin won 20-6. I hate baseball.

ChurchillSorry, but I'm not going to be feel enthusiastic or successful if the team lurchs through 3 or 4 more 90-loss seasons. Churchill probably wouldn't have enjoyed 12 consecutive lost battles in WW II either...

They're right on the border of being a 90 loss team right now.Oh, I'm not that hung up on 90 losses as compared to say, 89. I just don't want continued failure to be treated enthusiastically. And I don't think the Twins are doing that- my problem is just with Churchill. I'm reasonably optimistic about the future. I'm even more optimistic about today.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Yeah, but Churchill never saw the Twins play. (But I'm keeping my enthusiasm anyway.)No, but he saw the French Army in 1940. We've got it easy.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I hear little Oswell Arcia was sick overnight, which is why Oswaldo is absent the first game. Best wishes to the whole family.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Here we go! Pino gets Kinsler on a short fly ball.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I don't think Cabrera is right. If he doesn't hit like a Triple Crown winner, the Tigers will be watching in October.

Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Nice start for Pino. As The Chief sez: "The post-game presser is still on!"
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Dozier has 72 walks. That keeps the OBP respectable.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Nunez needs to get a helmet that fits.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Maybe we can get more than just one run.
