Pure speculation. Maybe we should try getting more than 5 hits in 7 innings before we blame the manager for not pinch running a slow runner for another slow runner that isn't quite as slow.

 

You're facing a pitcher who's owned you. If you win, it's going to be 1-0 or 2-1. You know that going in. You have to play for a run any time you have a chance. Failing to score runs off a pitcher you never score runs off is not shocking and does not excuse terrible management.

I am a jinx tonight. When I got home I turned on the game to see the first home run within 5 seconds after I tuned in. I just tuned in again and the first pitch went over the wall.
