Replacing Plouffe

Right now the Twins have a serious hole with Plouffe being out.

 

Escobar was doing fine at SS, and Santana was doing great in his role. IMHO The Twins need to go out and sign Mark DeRosa to fill in for the next 25 games or so while Plouffe is out.

 

Once Plouffe comes back then DeRosa provides insurance at CF and SS in case Santana/Escobar start to fall off a bit.

DeRosa can solve every hole in the Twins lineup except SS, and I'm sure Dave has a "DeRosa to the Rescue" scenario at that spot, too.

Let's be honest with ourselves here, we could clearly use DeRosa in high leverage relief pitching situations too. I could definitely see him as a setup man.

What are your thoughts on Deibinson Romero? With Plouffe doing well and Sano in waiting, it would seem like Romero is the odd man out. Twins need a jolt of offense and my understanding is that is what Romero offers.

 

Also, he's 27 on and the 40-man.

 

When would be a good time to call up Romero, if not now?

What we need to do is clone Mark DeRosa a few dozen times. In 18 years we can sign all of them and have a whole team of Mark DeRosa. We'll have to keep them under wraps so that they don't get drafted by other teams though.

It's actually well past time, it should have been done immediately once Plouffe went down. The Twins actually put themselves in a position yesterday with Fuld pinch-hitting for Florimon.....

We definitely need to sign him to a 2-year $12M deal - with at least 3 option years. The man is the definition of versatility.

This thread is for the discussion of Mark DeRosa as the Twins one true savior and Mark DeRosa (and his actions) alone. There are plenty of threads where you can discuss getting rid of Burton and Florimon.

The first year as a savior/player.

 

2nd year as a savior/bench coach

 

3rd year as the manager (after Gardy leaves after going out on top with back to back world series titles)
