Deduno has followed Pelfrey in 4 of 5 starts. The one game he didn't...Deduno pitched the day prior. Why don't we just switch their roles?

Because Big Pelf battles out there. Every time out. You gotta respect that.

Yeah, battling more than makes up for the 8.00 ERA.

If they want to, I can go out there and battle. I will do it for the league minimum.

Watching on gameday here and there. Looks like he's working up in the zone again?

Way up. When he's not up, he's missing outside.

Now let's not sell Pelfrey short, his ERA is 7.99, that's a huge difference. Insert joke here.

Maybe I'm old school, but I respect a pitcher that doesn't want to show up the batter by making him miss. Only stat stuffers go for the strikeouts.

It's quite pathetic.

I really like the way Hughes has pitched. He has been fun to watch.

Gibson has shown signs that he could be really solid as a #4. He has had a couple bad luck situations in his 2 'rough' starts that will happen from time to time, but may have caused waves for him.

Nolasco has an extremely long leash. I'm okay with him working it out, he has the track record to tell you it will get turned around. Plus, he has like a contract for a while and quite a bit of money.

Correia and Pelfrey have been awful. I was pissed when we signed Correia last year for two years and I was pissed this year when we re-upped Pelfrey for 2 years.

Think about it, how much money were we short on a couple guys like Garza? 6 million? I wish we would've tacked on the money we handed to Pelfrey on our offer and at least it would've given us someone entertaining to watch suck.

Kind of like when my little nephew and I play basketball. You let him score, don't call double dribble, etc.

I think the chances of that happening are virtually zero.

The front office isn't stupid.

Ummm, the FO that signed Pelfrey to a two year deal? The FO that didn't want Abreu? I don't think they are stupid, I think they make some stupid decisions.

Sorry guys, just a tad bit disgruntled.

You are perfectly welcome to become un-gruntled anytime you like. I just don't go negative here because I like the place, and when I go negative, I lose my mind and tact.

Okay, hang on here a second. I agree for the most part, but you agree Gardy would rather have a veteran than a young guy? Look at how he is handling his bullpen(tonkin vs burton)... Remember, a bad start for Gibson could plummet E.R.A to 6 ish...Which would be grounds for a demotion for a Rookie, but not a veteran with a contract.

I hope someone is keeping track of team-by-team reviews this year. Feels like we have had quite a few go against us. I was at the game on Saturday, was Dozier really out on the steal? I thought the view on the big screen looked like the ball was rolling around in the glove, what did it look like on TV?

Posted

The justification for allowing review was that it would let them make sure they got the calls right. So far I'm not convinced. Maybe Dozier was out, but there was zero evidence that clearly showed they made the wrong call. Way too many cases when replay doesn't seem to do what we wanted it to do- overturn obvious mistakes.

--this refers to today's changed call on Dozier getting doubled off, not the steal mentioned above.

I feel like Hicks could have given a tiny bit more effort on that one

I like instant replay, but watching on my tv, none of the replays showed him out, I am mad and surprised they overturned it. Probably find out later they mistakenly called it wrong, cuz it is the Dodgers, LOL

I've had about all I can take from Pelfrey.

Correia isn't quite that bad yet.

But Deduno...Meyer...Johnson...all more worthy to start over big Pelf.

How much we got sunk into him this year and the next?

I was thinking that too, but he's probably running in an outfield that's basically a peat bog right now.

I only watched the replay once, but he looked easily out. An MLB umpire should get that right much more often than not. He missed it that time and the replay corrected it.

I've seen that a few times this year, which was unfathomable for a Twins team in the recent past.
