Fight On

Twins Video

Yesterday was a rough day for me. I have been fighting cancer for 5 years and this spring it had metastasized. I continue to fight every day. Up at 4:30 to do my stretch, strength and balance work followed by a 5 mile run. With that fight I feel pretty good and have a high energy level in spite of all the meds. Baseball helps keep me going. There are still many more games ahead of me and they matter so much more than a championship. That final Twins trade of Varland set off a trigger in me. We had Varland through 2030. While at a large family gathering as the news kept rolling that 2030 hit hard. The odds are against me that I will be around in 2030. Thinking of the Twins led me to thinking of my first grandchild due in January. I can handle missing the next championship but I got pretty choked at the thought of what I will miss with my granddaughter.

Byron, Ryan, Kody, Royce, Matt, Trevor, Brooks, Christian, DeShawn, Joe, Pablo, Bailey, Simeon, David, Zebby, Cole and Justin I appreciate your fight. No one can make it to the major leagues without fighting everyday. You have fought through slumps. You have fought through injury. We will need your fight more than ever now. To the rest putting on that Twins uniform. I appreciate you. You have fought hard for this opportunity. Use this opportunity to make your mark in the major leagues. Fight to get better every day.

Mr. Falvey and Mr. Baldelli I need you to put up a fight. Make every day matter. Make every game matter. I am counting on you. To the Pohlad’s, you have stopped fighting. This is a concept that I can’t grasp. Every day I wake up excited to take on the day and fight for the next. You wake up every day as owners of a Major League Baseball team. How can you not be driven to fight for their success? I don’t get it. I do appreciate what Carl did for this franchise and what your family did for the community but you have stopped fighting. Please step aside and let someone else lead this franchise.

We need a fighter because every day and every game matters. I will be watching.

Sorry to hear of your plight.  I truly hope things work out and you get better.  Im 71 years old and been following the team religiously since the 1960's.  I will still watch them but this is one of the worst periods I have ever witnessed.  Yes even worse than the threats of contraction. .you see im a big Twins fan.  But a very gullible one.  For quite a while I bought into Falvey and all his bs and corporate double speak.  I was gullible to believe they really cared about us fans.  I was gullible to think they really cared about winning .  I was gullible to think they cared about the product they put on the field.  This franchise is at its lowest point.  They used to be a fun, energetic and prideful organization.  Now they are an embarrassment to many.  Although some of the trades were understandable many were not.  What it does show is that Falvey is not suited for this job.  Both he and Baldelli need to go.  For the 0ast 60 years they have been a big part of my life.  Just had it all taken away.

First of all, best wishes to you in your fight. I lost a too-young spouse to cancer and hate hearing similar stories, although much progress has been made and many battle for years and even decades.

I have tried to be evenhanded in my thoughts about the Twins. I don’t believe the field staff and the front office are clueless, but do think they’ve tried to put too many square pegs in round holes. Somebody should pay for the team’s failures and Baldelli and Falvey are the “usual suspects”

The selloff is a surrender for this year and maybe next. With a front three of López, Ryan and Ober and some dynamic players within a year of contributing, I hate to see a rebuild.

I, too, appreciate the work and determination it takes to be a major league ballplayer. Through the years my favorite professional sports team has given me hours of thrills and I’ve appreciated their skills and abilities.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggle. You believe that the odds are against you, and I suppose I'm being presumptuous to say this, but with the combination of recent scientific advances (and the as yet largely untapped potential use of AI in treatments) and your own indomitable will, I fully expect you to be posting on TD in 2030 and beyond!

I wish you all the best...

Sending my support from SoCal brother, keep up the fight. My prayers are with you. Great sentiments and puts things in perspective. We sometimes forget how important it is to keep up the struggle. Fight on!
