Ryan Rehab, Saints Defeated Indianapolis 8-5

Saint Paul, Minnesota - Joe Ryan began his MLB Rehab Assignment on Friday night. The Saints offense collected eleven hits, along with the performance of Ryan the Saints defeated the Indianapolis Guardians 8-5 in front of 8,035. With Julien, Wallner and Lewis breathing life into a listless offense recently, I thought ahead to the possibilities of even more help from St. Paul and a much more robust offense with several high on base guys mixed with power and potential high batting averages. Saint Paul, Minnesota - It was a combination of offense, defense, and a strong pitching performance from Saints pitchers that lifted the Saints past the Indianapolis Guardians by a score of 4-1 on Thursday night. Saint Paul, Minnesota - The St. Paul Saints were looking to complete a six-game sweep of the Louisville Bats on Sunday afternoon but pitching struggled for both teams. Saint Paul, Minnesota - A unique start to the game with the first three hits coming in the form of solo home runs. The Saints were able to hang around when Hunter Greene (MLB Rehab Assignment) was pitching before breaking through, scoring five in the fifth to pick up an 8-5 win over the Louisville Bats on Thursday night in front of 8,456. Saint Paul, Minnesota - The breakthrough inning for the Saints came in the fourth and was capped off by a home run off the bat of Jair Camargo, along with a solid outing from starter Randy Dobnak the Saints defeated the Louisville Bats 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon in front of 8,368. Carlos Correa and a runner on first

Carlos Correa has 51 plate appearances with a runner on first(only) and less than 2 outs. In those 51 plate appearances he has 9 strikeouts, 6 walks, 1 HBP, 1 double, 1 home run and hit into 15 double plays. The most frequent outcome is a double play. That isn't surprising as he hits right handed, frequently makes solid contact and isn't very fast. Those factors aren't going to change. It makes me wonder how often the Twins have tried to steal a base in those situations. I can't recall any.

Lewis Back Up to Replace Solano? Polanco to 1B?

Well, now what do we do with Solano spraining his knee? Hard to believe that's a day to day thing. By the way, "sprained knee" is often the diagnosis until the MRI shows a torn meniscus or ligament damage.  So what do we do? God help us if the answer is play Joey Gallo every day.  I say we we cut Lewis' rehab stint in AAA short and get him back up. Twins should act quickly and sign Trey Mancini and dfa Joey Gallo.

Career against left handed pitchers  BA - .262; OPB - .328; SLG - .449; OPS - .777.  This year has been worse as expected. He can play 1B, OF and DH.  Mancini's fielding is not as good as Gallo's but he would be an extremely low cost, RH hitter. Mancini, a survivor of colon cancer, was one of the first to reach out to Liam Hendricks, when Hendricks was diagnosed with cancer. A classy move.

Confessions of a confused Twins fan

I have to confess I do not know how to feel about the lack of movement at the deadline.  I am glad we did not give up quality prospects in order to secure average MLB talent that will not significantly impact this years results. At the same time it is very disallusioning (is that a word?) to see we did absolutely NOTHING to address the blatant issues we have with this offense. Prospecting For Kernels

Author's Note:  The game we attended was on July 23, so I apologize for the late report. But our intent wasn't a game report as much as a players scouting report.    My son (Dastard Junior) and I made the one-day trip down-and-back to Cedar Rapids to catch a glimpse of the Twins High-A Kernels. The four-hour drive (one-way) proved to be a small price to pay. As others have mentioned on TD, the ballpark is great, the fans are friendly and the Kernels are well worth watching. Our tickets
