Saints Comeback Falls Short in 5-4 loss to Indianapolis

Saint Paul, Minnesota - A monster home run by Yunior Severino was not enough to lift the Saints past the Indianapolis Guardians on Saturday night. Indianapolis defeated the Saints by a score of 5-4 in front of 6,188. The Saints fell to 68-50 on the season and 25-19 in the second half. 

 
In the third, Woods Richardson got the first two outs quickly. With two outs, Vinny Capra tripled. That was his first triple of the season. Next, Domingo Leyba hit his fifth home run of the season. Indianapolis took a 2-0 lead. 
 
Simeon Woods Richardson worked five innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He struck out six and walked one. Michael Boyle came into the game to relieve Woods Richardson. Woods Richardson took the loss. 
 
Quinn Priester got the start for Indianapolis. He is No. 4 prospect in the Pittsburgh organization and No. 60 prospect in MiLB. Priester worked four innings and allowed four hits and no runs. 
 
The Saints got on the board in the sixth. Yunior Severino hit a 461-foot home run off Beau Sulser. The ball cleared the batters' eye in straight away center field. According to Saints VP/Director of Broadcasting & Media relations, Sean Aronson, Severino is the fifth player in CHS Field history to hit a ball over the batters' eye. Four out of the five others have been Saints players. Severino is the first player to hit a ball over the batters' eye since the Saints have become the Minnesota Twins Triple-A affiliate. 
 
Each team scored three in the eighth. Miguel Andujar singled and Jared Triolo doubled for Indianapolis. Next, Ryan Vilade hit his fifth home run of the season. Indianapolis took a 5-1 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Severino, Celestino, and Da Shawn Keirsey Jr. all singled. Hernan Perez hit a bases clearing double to pull the Saints within one. St. Paul trailed 5-4. 
 
Indianapolis sent the Saints down in order in the ninth to hang onto a 5-4 win. 
 
The Indianapolis Guardians and St. Paul Saints meet in game six of a six-game series on Sunday afternoon at CHS Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:07 p.m. Indianapolis will send RHP Roansy Contreras (0-0, 1.29) to the mound while the Saints will counter with RHP Randy Dobnak (4-6, 4.53). The game can be seen on the CW Network, MiLB.TV, and heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM.
