Saints Fly Past Mud Hens 4-2

Saint Paul, Minnesota - The Saints and Mud Hens started the final series of the regular season on Tuesday night. The Saints carried a shutout into the ninth inning. In fact, the Saints were one out away from a shutout, but Dillon Dingler had other plans. In the end, the Saints shut the door and secured a 4-2 win over the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers) in front of 6,741. The Saints improved to 81-63 on the season.  The Saints got on the board in the second. Yunior Severino walked to lead o

Fire Tingler and the Trainer IMMEDIATELY

I hope the injury to Royce Lewis is not as bad as I fear.  That was NOT "Hamstring tightness".   ANYOEN/EVERYONE watching this game saw it, and I am guessing we all let out a simultaneous  "OH F---"!!!!!!   How could they not see it? Was anyone else as enraged as I was when listening to Tingler explain the injury?  I do not have it recorded so I will be paraphrasing, but when asked about if the injury running down to first on the previous at bat had anything to do with it, he says

2023 Awards Season

We’re just a couple weeks away from the final game of the 2023 Major League Baseball regular season. As postseason races start to take shape, putting a bow on the year that was is necessary. 2023 represented a return to normal baseball for the first year in a while, and we got plenty of highlight performances to watch along the way.       I didn’t write a preseason prediction piece this year, but shared some award thoughts on Twitter. A few of these appear to have aged w

Are We Getting Enough Talent From our Drafts during Falvey's Tenure?

Andy MacPhail, a former Twins GM who helped construct the 87 and 91 World Series Teams once said his goal was to promote 2-3 players per season up to the majors to fill roles on the team.  A good farm system can do that.  So, with that in mind let’s review the previous drafts in the Falvey era, not to grade them but to see how Falvey. Levine and company are doing in developing 2-3 starters/ regulars (or really players who can stay on the roster all year including bench and relievers) a year. Bel

Royce Lewis: ROY?

Why not hype Royce Lewis as AL rookie of the year? Rookies with a full year (or nearly so) in the league have a certain advantage, but none of the familiar names have numbers approaching Royce. Royce is number one in average, slugging, HR/AB, RBI/AB, and OPS. Rankings by OPS w 200 minimum AB: Royce Lewis .302/.365/.545 202 AB 14 HR 50 RBI and .910 OPS Tristan Casas (Bos) .263/.367/.490 429 AB 24 HR 65 RBI and .857 OPS Zach Gelof (Oak) .268/.335/.516 213 AB 11 HR 25 RBI and .8

The Saints improved to 75-55 on the season and 32-24 in the second half.  In the second, Zack Collins hit his 15th home run of the season. Buxton Update, Columbus Defeated St. Paul 8-5 in 11

Saint Paul, Minnesota - For the third time this week the Saints and Columbus Clippers needed extra innings to decide the outcome. Earlier in the week the extra-inning games went the Saints way; however, on Saturday night Columbus finished on top with an 8-5 win over the Saints in 11 innings. The Saints fell to 75-54 on the season.  The Saints got on the board first. In the first, DaShawn Keirsey Jr. singled. Next, Keirsey Jr. stole second base. Festa Triple-A Debut, Kirilloff and Buxton Rehab

Saint Paul, Minnesota - David Festa made his Triple-A debut on Wednesday night. If a prediction were to be made one could say Bryon Buxton and Alex Kirilloff, who were both on MLB Rehab Assignments would have been the stars of the show. However, it was five strong innings from Festa that led the Saints past the Columbus Clippers 6-1 in front of 5,814. The Saints improved to 74-53 on the season. Kyle Garlick and Anthony Prato singled in the second. With two outs, Jair Camargo hit an RBI sing
