    Strat-o-matic did a 2022 simulation and somehow the Twins made it to the World Series to face the Brewers, losing to the beer makers 4 games to 3. Now this is March and those must have been some Twins-friendly dice, and of course beating the Yankees in the playoffs ... yeah .... no. I can only imagine that Buxton avoided the injured list and he and Correa powered the look-alikes to a lot of runs scored. However they did it . . . i like it!

    From the National Library of Medicine on TOS and pitching performance: Conclusion: 74% of professional pitchers who undergo surgical intervention for TOS are able to return to play at the MLB level. With regards to performance, the majority of metrics were unchanged from prior to surgery, indicating return at a similar functional level. Pitching metrics demonstrated that pitcher ERA remained inferior postoperatively compared to baseline preoperative performance (3.66 vs 4.50, p = 0.03). Fastball velocity (p = 0.94) and strike percentage (p = 0.50) were equivalent to pre-injury performance. Me: "Similar" functional level, but still reduced as far as I read it. The ERA difference seems significantly worse. Reports say Chris Archer is a "smart pitcher" and if he can figure out how to be effective post TOS , then he can help the Twins some.

    And . . . a 14-1 pasting at the hands of the Red Sox to start the spring (we did get 2 hits though) just adds some extra juice to our current roster angst. Why do we always seem to start out like we're 2 weeks behind everybody else?

    The Yankees had seen enough of Torres at shortstop, moved him to 2B and Urshela to SS to finish last season. Manager Aaron Boone even announced Urshela as the starting shortstop beginning spring training. If we keep him, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the starting shortstop opening day for the Twins. A team could do a lot worse than having Urshela at ss.

    My crazy hunch here is we're lining up pieces for a trade with the Marlins for one of their starters. I have a hard time picturing Sanchez and Urshela in a Twins uniform, especially Sanchez.

    I'm not in favor of banning the shifts but if they do I hope they limit it to 2 infielders have to be on each side of the diamond with the limit allowing a defender to "straddle" the line between home and 2b.

    We "lovingly" called him Coconut Head. When he came up to bat, we'd yell, "Hey Coconut Head!". I can't really remember why. Powell got traded to Toronto and when I went to a few games there in 1982 at Exhibition Stadium (which I always thought meant an exhibition on how NOT to build a ballpark) I informed the few fans around me that his nickname was Coconut Head, which they thought was great inside knowledge and I instructed them on it's proper usage. So he came up to pinch hit and we all yelled, "Hey Coconut Head!" You could see him pause and slyly look around like oh crap, those dudes from Minnesota are here. I think he got a base hit. Good fun.

    I thought so myself but used Baseball Trade Values website and it had the Twins as a slight underpay (pffft) and just went with it to post here as something to talk about cuz it's not like we have any actual baseball activity to talk about other than minor league signings. I mean, they have Sano at minus 7.1 median trade value . . . really? I like Walls as a possible shortstop; maybe they would take Sano for Walls?
