  1. Obviously you can't glean much from a ten second clip, but that implied a much lighter show than DD and JJ.
  2. I finished House of Cards season four just before the NCAA tourney started. I plan on picking up DD season 2 Monday after the first two rounds are over.
  3. I steal all my best ideas.
  4. Right, because more often than not the run out to their defensive position is the players most strenuous activity that half inning. And that's nothing compared to the pre-game warning track run. Besides, if we really want to keep the outfielder's legs fresh, we should probably instead focus on getting all the strikeout arms that were sent packing recalled.
  5. Now I'm dreaming about Chris Sale demanding a trade out of the division. Or how about: Nolasco for Sale? Both seem like change of scenery-type guys now.
  6. Polanco looks ready, but I do want to see him play every day. I also want to see Escobar and Dozier play every day. Nunez and Santana are fine utility guys, but the team is going to have to try and make a move if they want to give Polanco regular MLB at bats.
  7. While I agree that there isn't much of a problem if some of these guys are up in a month, I don't know that they were given much of a chance, I don't think Burdi pitched like he clearly needed to be sent down.
  8. If true about the elbow surgery and a June return date, he'll be back just in time for teams to see if they are contenders and if they have a need for a left handed bat. Silver lining, if he comes back later this summer, he'll be more likely to find a spot with a contender and go after a ring. A-Rod, Teixeira, Beltran? The Yankees are bound to have at least one of those guys on the DL, pinstripes for Morneau. I guess that's not much of a silver lining.
  9. New director too. I love Speilberg, and he's still making quality movies even if they aren't the hits from the 70's, 80s and 90s. But, really, that last one was so bad everyone involved should have been blacklisted from Hollywood. If I could, I'd like to lay all the blame on George Lucas, but it would be pretty hard to tell which fingers should be pointed where.
  10. http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/17/politics/donald-trump-hill-republicans-conservatives/index.html "If that unity ticket is unable to get 1,237 delegates prior to the convention, we recognize that it took Abraham Lincoln three ballots at the Republican convention in 1860 to become the party's nominee and if it is good enough for Lincoln, that process should be good enough for all the candidates without threats of riots," Erickson wrote in a statement after conservatives gathered in Washington to discuss ways to thwart Trump's march to the nomination. Geez, if skipping all the primaries and going straight to the convention is the way to go, seems really strange that it took 156 years for them to remember that this is the absolute best way to do things.
  11. Right, and quality stuff that kid will learn, especially if it's anything like most locker rooms: http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/03/16/st-louis-cardinals-tyler-dunnington-quit-homophobic-comments Just about every positive thing you could learn in a MLB locker room can be learned in a HS locker room. However there at least seems to be a concerted effort to teach the younger generations that the bad things that take place in locker rooms are something to be ashamed of, i.e. hazing, homophobia, exclusiveness, bullying, feelings of entitlement.
  12. You wouldn't get any complaints from me, and using the young hard throwers was something that Ryan mentioned many times this off season as a possibility. I want corner-picking, meatball-slinging, contact-making, 92 MPH relievers no more. These are relief pitchers, they need two pitches and velocity, they don't need to be finished products. Bring them up and let them work out their kinks if they have any. Even if they bomb, it's not like the other options don't have a high likelihood of disaster. At least there is potential here with the youth.
  13. May was in the process of being the top starter for the team in June. He had two rough starts, one in April and one in May, but he finally found his control and was the only guy in the rotation that could strand a runner at 3rd with nobody out. He was on a roll and showing the potential that everyone had been hoping to see.
  14. I don't care about money for either Berrios or May, all I care about is controlling a good asset for as long as they are useful. Keeping Berrios in the minors an extra couple of weeks and keeping May a starter would seem like the best way to keep them from bolting early. As for the baseball reasons, I'd rather have 180 innings of May and 70 of Burdi/Chargois than 180 innings of Nolasco/Milone and 70 innings of May. Much rather.
  15. Burdi, Chargois, Graham and Pressly have made life tough on the front office. Small sample size surely, but I'm guessing none of them were/are front-runners for a bullpen spot but you can't really look any of them in the eye and tell them that they don't deserve a spot based on what they've done so far. If Spring Training actually is an open tryout that is.
  16. May was one of the team's top two starters when he was demoted last year. He's got the build of a workhorse, four pitches, good control and strong strikeout potential. I'm missing the signs that are pointing away from him having a solid chance at being a pretty strong starter. I think this was premature considering that both Nolasco and Duffey have been struggling. I'm OK tossing out spring training and making the decisions based on real baseball trends from last year, but that still means Duffey is in and Nolasco is out. Also, May to the pen means one less spot for Burdi/Chargois/Meyer/Pressly/Reed.
  17. This news wouldn't be half as disappointing if Ryan also had said that Nolasco too is out of consideration.
  18. I'd "like" the OP, but that might send the wrong message. Hopefully something like this makes the players wake up, I hope he had friends who are now quite ashamed of themselves. If locker rooms are similar to when I was in school, group homophobia is much bigger issue than individual homophobia. I'd bet if you asked ten guys if they had a problem with a gay teammate 8 out of ten guys would say no if asked off the record and away from the team atmosphere. However when in a group the macho BS comes out and slurs start flying. Grow up guys.
  19. If I'm Clinton and I know the trophy is already in the bag, I'd pay to keep the Saunders campaign running. I think if she's still debating and fighting against Sanders, she stays in the news. I'd think if she sews up the nomination and Trump has to wait until the RNC in July, that's going to be four full months of Trump/Republican hype and next to nothing for her.
  20. You need to stay away from the violent protesters then; maybe the doctors can sew it back on. And Trump says don't be too hard on yourself, small hands doesn't necessarily mean it's small.
  21. We'll never know if the training staff was deficient last decade, it likely was dumb luck, but certainly the team has been much healthier not only this year, but the past several years. They only had 8 guys start games last year and one of those was J.R. Graham's bullpen game.
  22. How eerie! You and I were like one digit off on most of these guys! Dozier: .850 OPS Plouffe: .820 OPS Escobar: .840 OPS Mauer: .860 OPS Buxton: .800 OPS Sano: .940 OPS Rosario: .800 OPS Suzuki: .001 OPS Park: 2.000 OPS
  23. If you want to see how the Democratic Primary starts to shape up you'd probably want to watch it, if that's not a big issue for you, you might just want to watch the season three finale or at least the last ten minutes or so as that's pretty much what drives the first half of season four. I'm halfway through episode six now which I'm fairly confident will mark a distinct shift in focus and plot for the second half. I also agree the show should start to wrap up. I enjoy it, but this is the kind of program that really needs a scheduled end date or it will spiral out of control, if it hasn't already.
  24. I think the Twins previous aversion to walks bordered on insanity, but I think they've softened a bit considering how they've been talking up the young hard throwers in the bullpen, none of whom have ideal control. A walk after all is more favorable than even a mere single, they aren't the end of the world and they don't move runners multiple bases. If you're known for always being in the zone, you will likely get fewer looking strikes than your counterparts and if you're always in the zone, you'll likely get fewer swinging strikes that don't make contact.
  25. Seeing as batters are the reactionary part of the equation to the pitchers causation, I'm generally more in favor of tossing the pitchers into the pool to see if they can swim, but I'm not at all opposed to doing it with talented young hitters either. Buxton has had hiccups at every level before coming on strong. Last year's struggles seemed natural, and I would have put my money on him coming around somewhat last September had the team not put him on the bench for the playoff push.
