  1. I'm only following on game cast, was that really a bunt from Dozier with no out?
  2. Yeah, if there ever was a deletable post, this may be it.
  3. Should it matter if it affected the throw if the intent was clearly to affect the throw? Personally, breaking up a double play is really, really low on my list of things that I would miss about baseball if it disappeared.
  4. I forget, are those two different people?
  5. I agree, the only reason we are talking about this is because Bautista likely changed his slide to conform to the new rule, last year he would have tried to kick the 2B, now because it is implicitly not allowed, he likely thought, what the hell, I'll give this way a try. Obviously grabbing the defender is interference, and it's almost certainly why guys have (had) historically tried to break up slides with their feet, using your hands to tackle the defender was clearly a no-no. If it wasn't people would have been breaking up DPs with their arms, not their legs all along.
  6. Hispanic voters and the state is no longer able to pretend that Austin doesn't exist. Still, they might again vote on succession (and build a wall around their entire border, and kick out all the Hispanics) if they look like they might go blue. If the ballot is mano e mano Clinton still wouldn't win if she chose Julian Castro as a running mate, but she might do better than Obama's 41%.
  7. Never heard of it. I'd ask you for more details, but I won't waste either of our time as I can't imagine I'd watch it anyway.
  8. Agreed it wouldn't go Blue exactly, though I think if the ballot has Clinton, Trump AND Cruz/Kasich/The Corpse of Reagan, all bets are off on who actually takes the state. Obama got 41% of Texas votes in 2012, if there are three people on the ballot and Democrat voters turn out in the same numbers, 41% is probably going to win Clinton every single state.
  9. I think it's toxic because of the good that's mixed in. You're right, a lot of the fights look bad today simply because enough people didn't take the time to defend the neglected aspects of society the previous couple decades. I wasn't around in the 1960's, but history tells us there was a much larger awareness of social injustice, and history also tells us there was a much larger push back and violence. I wouldn't dare compare current people to the brave folks that marched on Selma, but today's climate doesn't seem new. I mean Don't Ask Don't Tell was a fairly liberal idea just 20 years ago; it seems Draconian now. Social issues aren't advancing at the same rapid pace as our technology, but they are advancing pretty quickly compared to past drawn out issues. It's no wonder that those that don't feel comfortable with change are putting up a fight.
  10. The present always seems worse than the past, but then in retrospect it usually isn't. Tough times, for sure, but it's always the malcontents and those that fear change that scream the loudest. They'll quiet down when they realize once again they aren't going to win and history is going to make them the villains. In the grand scheme of things, evolution still has an undefeated record against conservatism.
  11. DD season 2 was good, but it was about three episodes too long and they certainly don't employ writers that can create any kind of decent legal storyline, which is kind of an issue considering DD's background. I think Netflix also needs push for quality over quantity before the novelty of these shows wears off.
  12. Knowing Hollywood, won't Gal Gadot be too old by then?
  13. I park at the library for $5. Not sure about the $15.50 average ticket though. This is the verbiage they use: "$15.20 a game on average for cheaper season tickets." They use similar verbiage for all the stadiums, so it's not the average cost of going to a game, it's more like the average cost of getting a cheap ticket from a season ticket holder. I'm not sure those tickets are always available. They probably should have figured out a median ticket price or maybe just used the pricing from a specific vantage point. It's also no wonder that the LA teams have the cheapest season ticket prices as it's hard to get people in California to commit their beautiful summers to going to the stadium.
  14. I don't know, our wars are pretty darn effective, seems like money well spent seeing as they've now bought a new level of world peace and cooperation.
  15. I've seen their bullpen, they should probably lower their threshold from "excited" to "Please God, anyone"
  16. I said in the Escobar thread that Zi thought he'd hit 40 doubles this year. I think I was way off, he's on pace for 324.
  17. I forgot, and with the lack of hubub lately I'm guessing most everyone else did as well, but the Twins lost Zack Jones in the Rule 5 draft this past winter and let's just say it didn't sit well with most posters. I suggested that it may not be the end of Jones in a Twins uniform as the Brewers made two choices and it would seem that they likely wouldn't keep both. Their first choice, Colin Jones has made the team. Jones on the other hand has been placed on the DL. He pitched all of 1 inning this spring, so unless his injury is season ending, I can't imagine the Brewers putting him on the 25-man right out of the gate, though I suppose a rehab outing may be allowable in this situation.
  18. The Twins are going to strike out a lot this year? If only there were any signs that indicated this, alas.
  19. Um, Janet Reno is hilarious. That Waco stuff was comedy gold.
  20. I don't think you're spending enough time at the liquor store. Mine has free samples so I browse for a couple hours.
  21. There has always been doubt about the prosecution, it's always smelled fishy, but as they already won I think the burden now shifts to the defense to prove that a new trial is warranted. I'm not sure the prosecution has to do anything at this point but provide a logical justification for why any new evidence the defense tries to present isn't valuable enough to host another circus of a trial at the cost of the taxpayers. It seems to me, motions for a new trial are rarely accepted, and they get rejected with much stronger evidence than this purports to be. I mean Dassey didn't get a retrial and they flat out proved the evidence used against him was due to illegal collaboration with the prosecution by his attorney. If I were to guess, I would bet a new trial would occur based less on this new questionable evidence but instead because of the pressure the documentary put on Hicksville Wisconsin and the backward and corrupt image it painted of them.
  22. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/03/politics/donald-trump-john-kasich-2016-election/index.html Trump says Kasich should be forced to drop out since he's mathematically eliminated from reaching the needed number of delegates. Frankly, I could care less what's happening with this side show, I just found this quote so very amusing: "Kasich shouldn't be allowed to run. Honestly, Kasich should not be allowed to run," Trump told reporters Sunday while visiting a diner in Milwaukee, adding, "He hurts Trump much more than he hurts (Ted) Cruz." Yup, now he's referring to himself in the third person. I hope that's not a one off reference, I would love to see him keep that up. I also would enjoy if he picked Rickey Henderson as his running mate.
  23. They wanted to lock as many fans in the stadium as possible. If you've ever walked a Baltimore street, it's really for their own safety though, it's a total public service.
  24. I can think of a dozen things I would change about my 22-year-old self. Most of them self corrected due to life lessons and experience.
