  1. The homegrown talent started to dry up around 2004, he was in charge well after that. Aside from Dozier, we don't really have much to show for quality MLB players in the system the past decade. I hope we get the best out of Buxton, Sano, Berrios and the rest, but that's all projection at this point. Even if they do produce, that was a loooooong dry spell.
  2. So I guess the answer to the question: "What does Eduardo Escobar have to do to bat higher in the lineup?" Is: "When he stops being a switch hitter who gets on base."
  3. What did I miss? Did Arcia actually do something to cause them to make this move? He hasn't even been given a chance. Another corner bat when there already aren't enough spots for Kepler, Park and Arcia. Why not just call Quentin back? Isn't it a right-handed bench bat this team really needs?
  4. Who's fault is that though? This team has been very poor at developing homegrown talent since early this century.
  5. I think it's going to be whichever actor puts up the biggest fight during contract negotiations.
  6. I don't think Molitor thought that sac bunt through. What did he think would happen to Escobr, the team's best hitter with a left handed Rookie batting behind him?
  7. Hmmm, I'm pretty sure my wife would just jump on the insult dog-pile if it was me.
  8. Probably, though Pressly also worked multiple innings as well. There seems to be an air of changing of the guard in this thread no matter how folks feel about how this has transpired. I hope Molitor feels that air too and gives the job to May.
  9. So we're criticizing players for not having surgery immediately even when there are alternatives to try? It's easy to yell about surgery when it's not you or someone you love getting knocked out, cut open and incapacitated for months. These are living breathing human beings even if we too often think of them as disposable entertainment.
  10. Molitor seems to trust everyone in the pen, aside from Tonkin. I'm not saying he should....
  11. If a move to the pen increases his velocity and/or eliminates the need of his weakest pitch, success against RHB likely will also improve.
  12. There's an AA flight that leaves in 20 minutes and he'd be at MSP by 3 PM. https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=ROC;t=MSP;q=rochester+ny+to+minneapolis+flights;d=2016-05-04;r=2016-05-08 If he's not on that plane, or the Delta that left an hour and 15 minutes ago, George Castanza must the the assistant to the traveling secretary for the Twins.
  13. I've merged the two Perkins DL topic threads.
  14. I trust Jepsen much less than Pressly and May. I know for some reason he was the 25th man on the roster and he was at one point a Rule 5 pick, but when healthy, Pressly has been the most consistent and reliable bullpen arm since the start of last year. I don't know why he isn't getting more trust. I'd put him in the 8th/9th until the real fireballers get called up.
  15. It might be getting better: http://money.cnn.com/2016/04/12/pf/gender-pay-gap/index.html?iid=EL Recent college grads are finding that young women are actually making more than men. The article mentions that this is largely due to young women asking for more at the onset. I would also guess that companies are fairly self-aware, and plenty of them aren't proud of past job gaps and are or will actively try to fix the situation. I would think fixing the job gap at the entry level is going to be how most companies will remedy this situation. Not that it wouldn't be fair, but it probably would be pretty difficult financially to start giving 5 figure raises to all the established employees.
  16. Yes, Polanco is one of the few opportunities to at least try to balance the strikeout/walk ratio of this team which is out of control at the moment. They need to try to find a spot for him, and even though the Twins likely would be loathe to unseat a veteran, Plouffe's spot is the most logical.
  17. I know it's early, and the team has seemed to have decided to market the team around him this year for some reason, but I'd push Plouffe to the bench/super-utility role. Not so much because he's been worse than everyone else, but because this team needs someone who has a strong track record of taking pitches and getting on base, and Jorge Polanco is beyond ready for his shot, and really, I don't think there are any other options to improve this particular skill set that the team so desperately needs. He could replace Escobar, but he's obviously one of the only two competent hitters on the team right now, he could replace Dozier, but I'd give Dozier a longer leash than Plouffe. I'd also give Park some AAA at bats. I don't mind him struggling up here, but I'd like the team to give more looks to Kepler and Arcia, so someone has to go to Rochester. As for the pen, I was ready to start from scratch this spring, so I'm just fine blowing the whole thing up. With the extremely minimal use of Arcia and Tonkin, I kind of think the manager and GM may not have been on the same page this spring. If that's the case, I think there could be some fireworks even though we as Twins fans have been conditioned to expect continuity and cohesiveness.
  18. Right, all of them but the one that is currently collaborating with Mike. I didn't think it would happen so soon, but assuming Gus becomes part of the show (and I don't even know if they have secured a contract with the actor) it might happen as soon as the season finale. Mike going solo and playing Rambo against the Salamancas for the rest of the run of the show sounds fun but will probably border on ridiculous soon. They probably will need Gus soon so there can be a more believable Salamanca/Fring feud.
  19. Surly they must be referrenced in the appendix.
  20. That's not in the official rule book.
  21. 92-MPH Perkins looks nothing like 95-MPH Perkins.
  22. I wonder if tgat precedent could be used other times when the Senate refuses to do their jobs, which seems often.
  23. Jepsen looks like the Jepsen of last year. The TB version that is.
  24. Hmm, what does it say about me that I just assumed Park's translator was going to be a Korean guy?
