  1. I assumed he was talking about the gross red jerseys.
  2. Hey, we had a lead for a full 1/3 of an inning. Baby steps folks.
  3. If Mauer could pull the ball I'd predict he drills Nunez with a line drive.
  4. I also think that publicly trashing Clinton is fun sport for many but her long-held political ties and her policies would actually get more people to the table at the very least. Probably more so than Obama has and definitely more than Sanders. I want wholesale American policy upgrades, but so does the other side but in the other direction. I can settle for small steps in the right direction if the alternative is staying put.
  5. Seems to me league-wide it is more common for a young pitcher to be called up than a hitter, but I don't have any numbers, just the sense that 20-22 year-old arms are more common, at least as a percentage. Some teams probably also prefer to get the most MLB time out of their pitchers before their inevitable decline.
  6. I think the team probably has the protocol for player development reversed. Pitchers are the causation and the batters are the reaction. Young pitchers with rough spots should be the ones promoted early, batters have to adjust and figure them out. It's the hitters that probably need more seasoning as they have to do the adjustment and cover up their weaknesses. Just trying to say that we should expect young batters to struggle, the team is more likely to get strong results from pitchers in the same situation.
  7. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/15/politics/sarah-palin-bill-nye-scientist/index.html Can people stop putting a microphone in front of her now? I mean she is such old news, she's not even a Governor any more.
  8. To me, the most inspiring thing about her is the faint possibility that she can help bring the Republican party back closer to center, partly due to the fact that many of her policies do interest the old guard Republicans, or at least don't completely turn them off, and partly because Sanders might make them all run even further the other way. If that party can get back to where it was during Bush Sr and Dole's leadership, we might be able to push further next election.
  9. They recast Apollo's wife? I haven't seen the movie, but I guess I can see how it was a necessary role that would call for a more accomplished actress.
  10. I haven't seen Creed yet. I also love the original Rocky however I still resent what the character became in the gratuitous sequels. People say Creed is good and I'll give it a shot, but I'm still going to have a hard time getting past the fact that Apollo's death was basically the impetus for defeating Communism in the Rocky universe.
  11. I watched it with my wife and in-laws who are Catholic, I am not. It was only a little awkward. But that's only because I jumped on the coffee table and did an "I told you so dance" in front of them.
  12. Yeah, a good movie but depressing. I'm in the same boat, married with two small children, just rented it a couple weeks ago. Well made, obviously there were bad things going on, but the movie really didn't demonize anyone which always helps me believe in it's authenticity. I hate "Based on a true story" movies where the bad guys are some super evil unstoppable force and the writers have to clearly manufacture conflict to create drama. They didn't seem to do that here.
  13. The 1988 Orioles had two HOFers in their prime plus a catcher and CF who made multiple AS games. Logic says the Twins will almost certainly get to 22 as they aren't as good.
  14. The Twins losses may be able to be explained away, but their lack of hitting and making contact really can't. They haven't been facing elite pitching. Pretty sub-elite in fact. If they were losing games 10-9, that would be one thing.
  15. I'm liking the OP for the contribution, not for the content. Clearly. Thanks (sarcasm font)
  16. Per Wolfson he gets a pro-rated $1.15M if he makes the MLB club. I hope that's incentive enough for him not to make the club. I'm worried he won't be riding pine allowing young players to develop if he makes the team. I think I'm mostly frustrated because there doesn't seem to be a plan for developing the young guys and building the team. Maybe they're not, but it really seems like they're just winging it at this point and they've been winging it since last year. It worked for awhile, but hasn't since about last June. Edit: well I can't copy the link for some reason, but it's probably not even worth figuring out why.
  17. Dang, that Warriors record for fewest losses remains out of reach for this year I guess.
  18. Yes, but all have gone on to win the World Series. Don't bother double checking that though, it was another bit of trivia that isn't online but solely in Chief's head.
  19. I know. I just have to realllllly stretch for jokes right about now.
  20. Jepsen as the closer? We have different definitions of nice.
  21. I would hope not, but I don't see a place for both Murphy and Arcia on the 25 man.
  22. ***** Moderator Note****** If everyone can't keep their posts objective and on point, there is no reason to keep this thread open as subjective posts on this topic are almost certainly going to be a personal attack on either the GM or other posters on this site, both of which are against TD posting policies.
  23. Perhaps they thought they were doing a kindness by only poisoning one of your senses today.
  24. It seems to me, if he can't play CF, he's just getting in the way of development. His OPS last year was exactly the same as Arcia's career OPS. Why on earth would this team even consider giving up on a 25-year-old who plays the same position and at least has a sniff of potential for a guy who is classic DFA material?
