  1. Yeah, I'd start him over Milone, he's out of options after this year, best to figure out if he can cut it this year, this team isn't going to compete now. I don't want to be screwing around with these decisions next year. Let's have as many questions squared away as possible and try to make a run next year. Let's see what we have now in these young guys, let's get a usable read on them.
  2. I don't understand why the three young pitchers have to be culled to one. I'd roll with them all hoping the lumps they take this year pay off next year.
  3. How is he supposed to get ready if not by starting?
  4. I've been saying for years that the Wisconsin pro basketball team was causing much more damage than they're worth.
  5. Yes, if doing somersaults in the air on a motor bike is what's required to do what ever sport it is you're referencing, I'm not letting my kids do that. I would be absolutely furious if someday I had to tell my son that he can't play baseball because I don't want him taking PEDs. I don't know what legal steroids your talking about, but the horse is already out of the barn on that one. We don't just go and legalize stuff just because there is something more dangerous that is legal. That sounds like a pitch from Big Pharma. No body is making things illegal, they are already illegal. We don't have to draw a line, the line has already been drawn, we can just leave it right where it is.
  6. What are bike stunts? Not sure I understand. No one is asking to make anything illegal. People are asking to keep the status quo. If MLB allows players to take PEDs, everyone who plays will be expected to take them. I'm not cool with them being a defacto requirement for my kids if they want to play sports. Not to mention the MLB future talent pool would crater due to the lack of participants, as the kids who don't take them will get chased out of or give up the game entirely.
  7. Kids aren't told that they won't make the team or they will let their teammates down if the don't drink alcohol. When it comes to protecting my kids, I really stop caring about what's fair.
  8. That's not an argument for PEDs though, that's an argument against those other products. That's like saying we might as well elect (insert your personally most reviled candidate) because he won't be as bad as (insert your most despised president).
  9. Not all are healthy, and they're only healthy if administered by a doctor. That's fine for these pro guys, but if you open the door there, then it becomes acceptable and expected for minor leaguers, college players and high school players, and high school players sure as hell aren't going to be getting them from doctors, they'll be getting them from the seniors on the team who will be telling the freshman that if they don't take this stuff then they are letting the team down. The stigma and the consequences in place now are the only thing stopping a tidal wave of unregulated drugs from being pushed on our kids, and it's already scary the amount that are out there. No thanks, I love the MLB, but I don't love it more than my kids.
  10. Park looks great at 1B. Kind of ashame he's at DH. Corner OF is also packed, even if he could go to 3B that's filled too. We probably just have to accept that we have a pretty athletic dude at DH.
  11. Cruz get's a ringing endorsement from his party's former leader: http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/28/politics/john-boehner-ted-cruz-lucifer-stanford/index.html I don't like anything that makes Trump look good but this is pretty hilarious. And apt.
  12. I agree, this would be his most useful. He might find himself on the bench more than he'd like as a super-utility guy, but the Twins could use a RH bench bat with some pop anyway.
  13. Well they suddenly were lacking three starters in AAA.
  14. I want the young hard throwers up, but going with youth has forever been considered the risk. Going with the vets has always been the safe choice.
  15. I think it's quite the opposite.I think a reluctance to use young players in any sport often stems from job insecurity. If a veteran blows up and fails, well the veteran gets most of the blame as he is experienced and has expectations to succeed. If a manager uses young players, it's often viewed as a risk the manager is taken on. When they blow up and fail, the manager gets the blame as "he should have know the kid wasn't ready!"
  16. I predict: 4 IP 1 ER 3 H 2 BB 4 K. I'm a pessimist about the weather, speaking of which this cloud's silver lining in my prediction is that we then see: Alex Meyer 4 IP 1 ER 2 H 3 BB 6 K and he picks up the W.
  17. This sounds like he's putting the cart before the horse a bit. Like before the horse was even born. Doing this seems awfully arrogant and tone-deaf. Fits right in with the rest of his campaign I guess. So Cruz does this and out of the blue Trump presents a somewhat thoughtful and non-confrontational speech about foreign policy in a coherent and adult manor. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/27/politics/donald-trump-foreign-policy-speech/index.html
  18. All of the best "closer" candidates are young and/or still in the minors and I think we have a pretty good idea at this point how Molitor likes to use young pitchers, that is, he doesn't. If it's not May or Pressly sometime soon, I wonder if a Hughes/Nolasco/Gibson may be the closer if the rotation gets back to full strength, Jepsen still struggles and Perkins is AWOL.
  19. Well the "Holding" pitcher made us eat our words for one night so we couldn't complain about him this time. Is it wrong that I'm a little disappointed that Fein, who hasn't struck anyone out in two years, made Molitor's decision to call on him in a situation where a strikeout was needed work? I mean, that had no business paying off right?
  20. Yeah, this is the one that actually stood out to me: -There’s no doubt that Berrios makes the Twins a better team in 2016. He’s a clear upgrade over Kyle Gibson, who he’ll be replacing in Minnesota’s rotation.- I really want an analytical team, but there are some compelling arguments as to why players SHOULDN'T read Fangraphs.
  21. I'm ready to hear them debate which of them is still actually a natural blonde.
  22. Interesting, I didn't catch that, but it was an iphone situation. I was mostly surprised it autofilled the accent mark over the e.
  23. If this is a classic move that the front office unethically pulls, we probably would have heard at least one starter call them out on it, not to mention the MLBPA. I don't think a healthy pitcher WANTS to sit.
  24. Who's getting into a game first Meyer or Berrios?
  25. Atta boy Sano. With a young team, I really like the "new hero every night" bit.
