  1. Murphy was the same guy who hit a three run HR off Perkins to win a game last year, am I wrong?
  2. I don't know, that sounds like a high probability of ruining two awesome things. Let us know if they don't make you barf. Or if they do.
  3. Fried Jawa is pretty good. Not quite as tender as aunt Beru though.
  4. I know that isn't easy to say, so let me just say I'm encouraged and expectant that plenty of folks will eschew party politics to stop something like this from happening. Good luck to us all.
  5. I'm still not sure that wouldn't help him with his supporters. This is just so bizarre. I live in a Red State, I have a lot of Red relatives and friends, and I still don't personally know anyone who supports him.
  6. Uh oh, we should probably be worried as Twins fans then
  7. A lack of understanding is completely different than open disdain. Dick's a baseball guy, he has anecdotal stories and insight, I don't know why we would ever think he's reading Bill James. He's much more likely to tell a story about an encounter with Bill James than anything. Dick's statistical knowledge comes from the back of baseball cards, and as much as we might enjoy Dick and Bert discussing PECOTA and BaseRuns, we are the minority; my mom watches the Twins every night, she'd be bored to tears, just like 90% of the rest of the target audience. The majority of fans know the counting stats everyone grew up with.
  8. I'm sure it goes without saying considering the topic, but let's do everything we can to keep this lighthearted, not accusatory.
  9. We'll hold your horses, don't forget we still have Cruz's dad's connections. If they can get to a president, Trump's gigantic misshapen head should be an easy target. Castro would still likely be game, but Putin and the Russians and the mob appear to like Trump. Really is going to depend on what flavor you like your conspiracy theory.
  10. My willingness to watch this game went down about 200% with Meyer leaving and Milone coming in.
  11. This would be a good spot for Jack to call out Molitor.
  12. Molitor's managing like it's game 163? Leave him in, what's the harm?
  13. Plouffe didn't seem inclined to lay out for that one.
  14. Only 26 games in AA, but very encouraging. He has actually decreased his K% in the move up a level. If he can continue on this path, the Twins might have stolen a useful player. Maybe a promotion is in order simply to see if whatever infected him can rub off on Walker. Man, I see he's now striking out 40% of his ABs this year.
  15. Umps are going to have a bad night, it's always happened and always will until we get robots to make the calls. We don't know what Murphy said, perhaps it was really, really bad, but you'd like to think Layne would have kept his cool. In the umpire/player relationship, the umpire is supposed to be the adult.
  16. So according to Trump and the National Inquirer, Ted Cruz's dad used to chill out with Lee Harvey Oswald. I'm not so sure Trump should be using that as a black mark against Cruz, some of those would-be voters might not be so bummed about pops involvement in taking out a Kennedy.
  17. My pet peeve is when they act like a 22-year-old pitcher is some rare and special species. Twenty-six of them pitched in the majors in 2013, 20 in 2014 and 33 last year. This is a pretty acceptable and standard age to debut on the mound.
  18. That's probably what will happen, and I won't be too frustrated if two of the young arms remain in the rotation, but personally, I'd prefer to see Hughes in the bullpen I see that Hughes actually has given up 20% more groundballs than flyballs this year. That's obviously way off his career norms. When that percentage reverts back to normal and the weather warms up, he's going to be giving up more HR than ever. And he led the league last year. This team just has to figure out a way to get out from under two of the Hughes/Santana/Nolasco contracts.
  19. Buxton needs to re-tool his swing. I'm sure someone had the bright idea that it would be beneficial to him to limit movement in the batters box, but his swing is just a right-handed Denard Span. There is no stride toward the pitcher and no leg kick. He has the talent and I believe that he'll realize most of it, but he's not going to become a well rounded player being a Denard Span slap-hitting clone. I'm sure some in the organization see that as exactly what this club needs, and that's partly true, but they have to incorporate a more powerful swing or regardless of whether he starts making better contact, he'll never have a chance to live up to the expectations we had previously hoped for. Plus, plenty of guys improve their timing by incorporating a leg kick, it isn't all about making harder contact.
  20. If push comes to shove, Santana keeps his job over Hughes and Nolasco, but the team wouldn't be pissing off employees for no reason, there is a sound and logical reason, if the team wants to win in the future, they need to see what they have in their young arms. Disgruntled baseball players are nothing new, the Twins cannot afford to cater to unhappy vets. That sets a worse precedent than failing to promote youth during a time of rebuild.
  21. Yes, and if the team had to choose between Santana, Hughes and Nolasco short or long term, he should be the clear choice.
  22. No he and Ulger got canned for being the sole causes of the 90 loss seasons.
  23. That sounds Sweedish, you sure it's not ABBA?
  24. I don't know any Rihanna songs. And no that isn't an invitation to introduce me to them.
