  1. Completely off topic, but has anyone here read E A Poe's The Cask of Amontillado?
  2. Well cue the word hypothetical. This thread is for ideas, not complaining.
  3. McPhail worked with a ton of these guys. Would he even replace Ryan? I like McPhail, but if the goal is to get rid of the country club, well he started it.
  4. I liked what the Cubs a Dodgers did, stealing a well respected GM and promoting him to President Could the Twins go that with someone like John Mozeliak? I see his assistant GM is a numbers guy, he could come along as GM.
  5. Sorry, nope, I don't have any personally. However we've largely been getting overly anxious and pointing fingers at who we think is to blame for the current mess. Of course one of the problems with flagrant blame is that any solutions get lost in the ruckus, or are absent entirely. So hypothetically assuming the culprit(s) of your choosing get the axe, who should replace him/them? Presuming owner is beyond a guess or reason, the three big spots would be President, GM and field manager. Let's hear some thoughts and brainstorm a solution instead of scream ourselves into an aneurysm.
  6. No, you do not drink the Schell's Snowstorm. If you absolutely cannot throw it away it can only be used to parboil your brats, but be warned, the entire time you will be weeping for your brats.
  7. Yup, like when I go to the liquor store and the seasonal beer is on sale because it's no longer that season and they need to make room for the new seasonals. The liquor store will sell at cost to bring in the newer flashier beer, and THEY don't care that I just got a good bargain. Though to be fair, there was a reason that the Schell's Snowstorm (Brown Ale) sat on sale for two months; no one wanted that awful mess. Sometimes you just got to toss it in the dumpster and eat the loss.
  8. Is it really because they were too expensive? Or because Twins fans at TF were intentionally swallowing them in mass protest/suicide?
  9. Remember that one time when Michael Tonkin was the absolute worst thing that happened to the pen? I wish we had six more of him.
  10. Hmmm, Andrew Albers is left-handed and Canadian, we sure this isn't him? It's been awhile since I saw him.
  11. Great point, are players allowed to refuse a "promotion"?
  12. 28% of Chris Davis' hits have come against the Twins this year.
  13. Bad news, that's a repeat. Same game has been playing on FSN for a week now.
  14. away yes, if you don't start off with the word away everyone will be confused.
  15. So is Pat Dean right now, as we speak, auditioning for Phil Hughes' job?
  16. The Beatles are much better. The Crickets sucked once Buddy Holly left.
  17. The quote button at the bottom right of the post. Then put the cursor below the quote box and type away.
  18. Tell that the the bird's family.
  19. I'm not saying it's right, but as we've seen how the young guys are used, clearly the folks in the MLB dugout are quite resistant to being used for developmental instruction, it seems they would prefer that done on the farm. I'd guess the Twins didn't want Buxton to "work on" anything at the MLB level as they feel that should be done at the subordinating affiliates, and the big club should be all about the Wins and Losses. I don't at all agree with this considering the record, but that's what it looks like to me.
  20. Not to derail the thread, but I'd be curious to know if Andy McPhail would have had interest in returning and becoming president of the Twins instead of the Phillies had he had the choice.
  21. I though from hearing some of the reports over the past year or so, his slider was suspect. But again, that just means someone reporting this intel is wrong. I hope it's a good pitch, he's not going anywhere without it.
  22. He threw all of 40 innings and faced all of 153 batters his senior year of HS. If we assume he averaged about four pitches per batter faced, and if we assume he threw his slider 25% of the time, which he probably didn't because 95% of HS kids will get themselves out on a simple 94 MPH heater, that would mean he threw only about 150 sliders. Sure, the Twins could have messed something up, but I'd say it's much more likely that the scouting reports didn't have enough to make a solid assessment.
  23. Sorry, but as far as Im concerned Anthony had his audition when he put an opening day 25-man together that included a no longer physically capable Jason Kubel and Jason Bartlett as an outfielder. That spoke volumes about his take on the "old boys club" atmosphere. I'm not opposed to second chances, but I am in this case. He and Ryan are good, honest and loyal men, but that doesn't qualify them to be a GM. In fact, if we based it on the rest of the business world, those qualities might be antithetical to winning.
