  1. Moliter gets an extension yet it seems all the pitching people are getting canned. It’s early, but i’m Losing faith in the new administration. I’m wondering if there was something physically wrong with Santana down the stretch. It seems like the Twins lost a lot of his starts as the season wore down. A 3-0 lead should be good with him on the mound.
  2. Seems to me the old administration spent a lot of effort trading ML players for pitching prospects that don't work. Too early to tell about this administration but their trade deadline waffling does not bode well. Clearing out the minor league staff in such a classless manner looks bad as well. I predict Moliter and his entire staff will be elseware in 2018.
  3. I've been a fan of the organization sine my dad took me Senators games in the first grade. Pete Runnels gave me a bat he broke in one of the games we attended. My dad was Air Force and we were transferred out the same year they became the Twins. I didn't live in Washington anymore so I gave my allegiance to the Twins. During my nine-year stint at Florida State I would spend a lot of time in the library looking up games from Denver, Portland, Charlotte, and places like Wilson, N.C. Wherever FSU received a paper from a town with Twins farm teams. This is to say That when I say this is the best year I remember for the Twins minor leagues it goes back quite a ways. We've had good groups come thru like the nucleus of the two World Championships in '87 and '91 plus the group now of Rosario, Buxton, Sano and the boys. Can't say I remember a year when every team was a league or division contender. Part of my enjoyment was being able to go to one spot to get stories and box scores from every Twins team in one space. Thank you for making that source available to me.
  4. It's great the guys are doing well but it should be tempered with caution. In Rooker's case a good college hitter should hit rookie-low a pitching. Anybody with a plus-curve will have success in rookie-low a ball. As both pitchers and hitters get used to wooden bats which requires pitching inside. Those who can throw curves for strikes have a significant advantage. In low a ball pitchers are wild and the defense doesn't always catch the ball. Consequently individual stats are mostly meaningless as a predictor of Major League success.
  5. The jury is still out as to whether Lewis plus embold is a greater return than McKay or Kyle wright. Considering the organization has two international shortstops plus Gordon at that position perhaps one of the college pitchers could contribute faster. I'm not sure I go along with the philosophy of lowballing your top pick so you can overpay your third pick.
  6. Has anyone noticed the Twins awful pitching plan. Going back to the last four-game series against the Indians, this will mark seven games against the pre-season favorite without Santana or Berrios. Spotting the the top teams seven games is a hard way to win.
  7. Why do you let a guy like Chris Herrmann go. He hit two home runs yesterday and has 4 in 42 at bats. He can also play the outfield. And yes I know Palko is tearing up AAA. We have a bottomless hole at catcher. No one have ever said Stuart a Turner will eventually hit major league pitching but the guys we have now can't either.
  8. I was glad to see Ryan come back because Smith literally made me sick. I wonder about waiving a left-handed starter. Seems like you could have got something for him. I'm also a Redskin fan and I remember the second coming of Joe Gibbs. He wasn't able to adjust to the new NFL. He picked Mark Brunell over Drew Bree's. I wonder if Ryan is up to the task. I want to say it was '85 when herbek and the kids were given free reign. We lost 100 games but two years later won the World Series. I would also point out that the first step the Braves took before their decade of no east titles was to bring in guys who could catch the ball. That would be a big improvement to this team.
  9. Let's take a page from the Braves' book and have a fire sale for prospects. Now that Mauer is hitting again let's see what we can get. He makes too much to be a singles hitter at first base. Now that Gardy's back in the organization it's only a matter of time b4 he's back in the dugout.
  10. Will someone tell the Twins broadcasters that "the black" is not part of the plate. The black serves to outline home plate. A pitch "on the black" is a ball. It drives me crazy to hear that phrase when announcers are begging for a strike.
  11. In the Rochester story it says bersford singled and went to second on a sac fly. I don't think you get a sac fly unless someone scores.
  12. Matt Capps couldn't get me out either!
  13. i've been a Twins fan for over 50 years. The general mismanagement sickens me. The Twins had the catcher of the future in Ramos. They gave him away for Mike Capps who couldn't get me out. Now we have Murphy who can't throw the pitcher out on a two-out bunt and who already has his hit for this month. The Twins have traded 3 major league outfielders for the world's tallest AAA relief pitcher (Meyer) a middle reliever (May) and a catcher who will be lucky to hit .200 (Murphy). It's not so much that the Twins lose/give away good players it's that they rarely get value in return.
  14. The Thursday game is on Moliter. We go into extras w/o Sano, Trever or Rosiaro and with the pitcher hitting. He should have used Robinson to run for Sano or left Trever in the game. We're spotting the Tigers too much.
