  1. Not every young guy struggles and pitch recognition is probably an area affected less by physical fitness. I would suspect we'll find out what he's made of if his conditioning greatly affects his defense or if he wears down as the season progresses. If that happens, then we are more likely to see if he takes the Arcia approach or the Young approach. Or perhaps he won't struggle at all. Getting a young guy to change his stripes when he is currently succeeding sounds like a pretty daunting expectation. It seems pretty hard to convince young athletes of long term consequences until they actually begin to be afflicted by them.
  2. I agree, but Reusse is also smart enough to know how to snag readers. There may be smoke here, but the only real quote is the one from Molitor which to me looks like it could have been framed in a positive, negative or neutral light depending on how the author chose to present it. The eye-test would surely suggest that Sano should cut some weight, but I'm not sure that I can quite buy into the idea that the Twins are concerned based on these comments that Reusse is feeding us. Away from the validity of the article; it seems to me, the commitment of young guys perceived to be out of shape almost never comes to a head until the young guy struggles. Oswaldo Arcia appears to have made a strong effort to improve, Delmon Young never did. I suspect we won't know about Sano's dedication to physical fitness and it's impact on his job until he has significant struggles.
  3. A duel would be entertaining. Trump doesn't seem like a guy who knows how to fire a gun though, he seems like a guy who knows how to hire mobsters to do it for him. Cruz seems like he's hunted a time or two, by hunting I mean the kind where the animal is trapped in a fence and chained to a stake. Neither Burr nor Hamilton (RIP) ended up becoming president, this could work.
  4. I kind of thought by having The Mandarin a fraud, they kind of left the door open for there to be a real guy behind the charade, perhaps behind Killian as well if it helps the writers. But the character is a bit delicate ethnically, and maybe is best left alone in a world where Asia provides huge boosts to blockbuster films.
  5. Well only to fix it once and for all though, right?
  6. I agree, if the last move is the bullpen I think the team is waiting until the last minute to try to keep Tonkin. I still think he'll get claimed, but he hasn't pitched well, I'm less sure than I was before spring training.
  7. Also, 75-year-old Scott Glen is looking pretty ripped. I'm starting to think the 70s and 80s missed the boat not making him an action star. Not that he wasn't in a ton of great movies.
  8. Half way through the season. It's good, and I like the DD vs Punisher angle, not just the fighting but the contrast. I have to say though, they should really, really go light on the law stuff. I'm just a layman so maybe some of our legal experts can jump in here, but it seems to me, the writers understanding of the legal system is based on Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer sketches and Perry Mason quotes. Some of this stuff is hard to watch.
  9. I'm pretty sure you have us mixed up with Luxembourg elections.
  10. I may be terrible for assuming, but doesn't Trump seem like a guy who constantly has affairs and doesn't even bother covering them up? Not that one or two dozen affairs wouldn't somehow help him with his base anyway. Regardless if it's true or false, we can't be far from a Trump sound bite calling Cruz a Canadian sex addict.
  11. Um, he has a strong foreign policy?
  12. I was under the impression that it's not cheating if you're doing it in Canada. We probably need to know if these women are from his home country or adopted country before we rush to judgements.
  13. Yes, this is my biggest hope for him. This system has a distinct lack of top of the order guys who can get on base at an above average clip. Even if Buxton does pan out, there's two spots up there. If Buxton doesn't pan out there is basically no long term Plan B. Polanco may be quite important.
  14. Regarding the Wisconsin vote, I was going to post that if Paul Ryan was a serious Convention candidate, wouldn't Wisconsinites intentionally hurt Trump's chances? Or are there that many Wisconsin conservatives that like Trump more than their own guy? But yeah, maybe moot point if this Cruz stuff hits the fan. Or I guess more fans than it has thus far.
  15. The Twins must have been doing Sweeney a favor letting him look for a new job without re-assigning him or keeping him in camp until the last cuts. He must not have been plan B in CF then, because why release Plan B with two weeks to go? Plan B then must either be Mastroianni, OR Rosario/Santana. I'm guessing Rosario/Santana is Plan B, because otherwise wouldn't the Twins have done the same courtesy to Quentin that they did to Sweeney? Because I'd think the only way Quentin makes the team is if Rosario/Santana are in CF which leaves room for both Arcia and Quentin (I know, defense ick, that's a different topic).
  16. His second half OBP was .330. It could be an outlier, or it could be that once he was secure that he had the starting job he wasn't as aggressive trying to make an impact. I'm predicting an increased OBP due to seasoning and a less aggressive approach due to job security, but a decrease in slugging due reduced aggressiveness and the rigors of playing a full season. .265/.325/.420. Only 8 HR but 40 2B.
  17. I didn't realize he ditched the sinker and slider, did he do that last year, and was it common knowledge? If not, they could have perhaps kept that out of the scouting reports and let teams figure that out for themselves.
  18. Liberals don't yell. We pompously vociferate and condescend in tweed jackets.
  19. I said before, it's to Clinton's benefit having Sanders keep going as it keeps her in the news. Otherwise, if she clinched, it would be 100% Trump/Republicans news instead of only, let's say the 70% that it is now. Maybe Clinton's floating the Sander's campaign. Joking. Mostly.
  20. I think the difference with Kasich is, that he is a dark horse for the nominee if Trump doesn't clinch by the convention. Also, the mainstream Republicans will probably do anything at this point to keep him in to take as many votes away from Trump in an effort to keep him from clinching.
  21. Polls show 7-10% of Sanders supporters would vote Trump over Clinton: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/mar/13/bernie-sanders-supporters-consider-donald-trump-no-hillary-clinton That's not insignificant. I think the ticket is too old with another unelectable VP in eight years, but he's going to have to at least be a consideration if the Dems agree with the numbers.
  22. A Clinton-Sanders ticket is probably much too old. But is it still a possibility? Sanders might be the best bet to keep some of the Independent voters from Trump as they do appear to have some, even if small, overlap in their draw. On the other hand, Sanders might not want the job. Had Cruz or Rubio gotten the nominee, a Hispanic like Julian Castro probably would have been a favorite, but would he still be a guy near the top of the list?
  23. Who's asking? You wearing a wire?
  24. Pressly earned a spot last year, he was the second best BP arm last year before he went down. If spots were guaranteed prior to spring training, he should have been a lock. I think we are too assumptive that Fein is a lock due to his veteran status.
  25. It sure looks like Jimmy is going to break from corporate law quickly. Perhaps that will spur his story to the places we always expected. I also originally thought that Gus wouldn't be introduced any time soon as there never appeared to be a Saul/Gus interaction prior to breaking bad and I thought introducing that to Mike's story would keep him more isolated from Jimmy so as not to contradict anything from Breaking Bad. Gus might pop up soon though the way the story is going. He certainly would be an asset to Mike right about now.
