  1. I'd trade the same three guys as last winter, for the same reasons. Vasquez, Castro & Paddock. I don't think we'll resign any of them and if someone comes calling I'd trade them. I don't think that will improve this years team, but with Pablo missing up to 2 months and Ober looking iffy, I think we might as well see what we can get for them.
  2. If Raya makes the Twins bullpen at some point this season, could he be a dominate reliever by next year? He has the stuff to be a dominate reliever but has not been trained in that role. As its going now, he couldn't be a factor at all next year. At least 4-5 pitchers have passed him as up and coming choices for starters. Its time to find a role for him that works. That role appears to be reliever and I don't think there has ever been a limit on how many top of the bullpen relievers you can have.
  3. If ownership won't spend and they won't, there won't be any changes of note. Amazingly what would probably be their regular lineup, is healthy and back together. Now they just need more than 3 1/2 players hitting. Too bad Pablo got hurt. The July trading deadline is not the time to be expecting surprisingly good deals to occur. NO one is giving out big discounts in mid year trades.
  4. He is not using his leg in the field nor is he using his legs on the base paths. If you watch him hit he is not using his legs at the plate either. He apparently has no right leg strength which to me shows he should be on the injured list.
  5. I don't know what school of financing you went to, but you get your money back. So you think that none of the player contracts have to be paid? If someone buys the team tomorrow you don't think that the players will get paid? Amazing.
  6. Hopefully he plays well enough this year yet, to be considered for the team the first half of next year.
  7. Debt could include future salaries due to players. Such as $140 mil to Correa plus another $75mil for three add on years if he meets his incentives. $50-$60 due Buxton if he plays long enough and another $50 million if he accidentally meets his incentives. $45 due to Lopez after this year. Plus appx $90 million due to the team this for the balance of this year. I am pretty sure they have about 15 years of lease obligations after this year. Not too hard to get to $450mil in debts.
  8. The more games Lewis sits out, the more I think he is the long term first baseman. Lee can handle third. Although only a small sample size, I think Keaschall is the future second baseman. If Carlos can hold up at short stop, this could give the Twins a set infield.
  9. I suggest Keaschall wears batting armor the next time he plays. At least for the rest of this year. Jenkins may have to DH for a few months or at least until his ankle is fully healed. Rodriguez is always hurt. He may be another player who needs to rotate between the outfield and DH.
  10. Julian needs to play full time, probably at 3A. He will or won't find his way back, but he'll never do it sitting on the bench. The others, Clemens, Bride, and Gaspar are just holding places.
  11. I'd go with a "Nobody won the award this Month" pick.
  12. I'm thinking Winokur should split time between outfield and first base. I haven't seen Culpepper play enough, but I still think DeAndrade could be Correa's replacement at shortstop in 2 years.
  13. Even with last nights win, I don't see how it could hurt.
  14. Maybe if he could force himself to get more at bats in the spring he might get some hits in the first game of the year. And second and third etc.
  15. Has anyone kept track of how many more years that Dobnak has on his contract? Does anyone think he would make a good pitching coach? I am not sure I'd carry him as a starter over the other starters at 3A and 2A.
  16. Neither Lee nor Lewis have played enough at the major league level to know what they "will" be. Lots of rampant speculation going on. At some point over the coming season we will have a better idea, I hope.
  17. Brandon Winokur is big enough to play 1st base. It'll be interesting to see if he play significant games at Witchita this year, of course he has to get through Cedar Rapids first.
  18. I don't think either Julian or Martin make the roster out of Spring Training. I believe they will both have big league careers, just not with the Twins. Martin would work better as a small ball, second baseman. The Twins wanted him to be a slugging shortstop, he just isn't. Julian has too much competition to play second base for the Twins. If it isn't lee, Keaschall will be up soon, maybe mid season and could replace both of them.
  19. I was wondering if they would have to find a temporary stadium to play in such as in a Buffalo location.
  20. Place him on the injured list and send him to the doctors/surgeons. As long as he wants to keep trying, there is no reason to give up on him.
  21. Other than Paddack I wouldn't trade any of the starting pitchers. Unless of course someone jumps up and makes a ridiculous offer. Everyone is tradable for the right price.
  22. I think the truly low leverage pitchers this year will be Castro and Vazguez. Maybe a surprise guest appearance comes in. Castellano is just a rookie who is not primed for any particular role so mostly relief of mutiple innings.
  23. I go with the format of letting him prove he can pitch so that he can be traded to someone else and get a lottery token in exchange. Let another team nurse him through the year. My luck he would have a Cy Young season.
  24. Unfortunately that's true. But since I started wearing minimalist shoes, I haven't had a single sprained ankle while running in over 10 years. Or playing basketball or softball. Maybe just a coincidence.
  25. Unfortunately our best prospects getting injured probably means more lost time for future starters. Maybe get everyone in the top 40 prospect list a personal trainer. Plus the majors maybe 2 trainers each.
