    Brooks Lee has hit in 11 of his last 12 games, and 12 of 15 overall with St Paul. Doesn't look like 3A pitchers have his number.

    I think for those who expect that Buxton to be the starting center fielder next year, you will be sorely disappointed. Buxton may be healthy enough to start the season in center, but nothing in his career says he'll make it to May without being hurt. Best case scenarios he plays 50-65 games in the field. Probably much less. In that high probability case, The Twins will need someone to play minimum 110-120 games in center. Taylor has been good, but he is not the future either. I think Martin could play center next year, possibly Kiersey some. Maybe in 2025 ERod is fighting for playing time. I don't think Gordon will be back. Probably not Kepler, Taylor or Gallo either. Maybe not Solano with possibly Polanco taking that role.

    Buxton has only averaged 65 games a year in center for his first 7-8 years. If he doesn't play center at all this year, what do we have for next year? If he can't play the field this year, will he be able to play next year any better than he has been? If he can only play 50 games in the field next year, who is our regular center fielder? I think answering those questions is more important going forward than whether or not he can play 5-6 games the rest of the year. If he can't play the field at all, what's the option. We know he has not been successful as a DH, so him playing DH for 4 more years is not going to work either. I don't see a roadmap to success in any option right now.

    In 2019 as a lead off batter, he often battered that first pitch. I believe he hit 8-9 lead off homers if not on the first pitch, early in the count. Then he stopped doing it. As far as walks go this is his worst year for drawing walks, probably because he is not taking so many pitches. His BABIP is also higher this year than it has been in 6 years, fewer shifts probably. Pitchers got used to him hitting a certain way, let's hope they don't figure it out.

    I think they would need to test Buxton first, whether or not that's at St Paul. They could let him start at DH through the sixth inning then move him to the outfield for 2-3 innings later in the game. Though it might be better to start him in the outfield, but they could not switch him to DH later in a game. I'm not saying start him in center either. Let him play left field for a few games to start getting the feel of the out field again. Or play center for an inning or 2 then switch him to left to test his legs. Kepler may have to play a few innings in center, but they can always bring Taylor in later for defense.

    It looks like both Harry and Keaschall could both be in double A early next year. Fast for both '23 draft picks. Harry has been at 4 positions and Keaschall at 3. I think they are both above Ft Myers level although of course in small sample size yet.

    The Twins lead baseball in strikeouts. By their pitchers as well as hitters. Pitchers also lead baseball in strikeouts per 9 innings. Their pitchers are third to last in ground ball outs. Of course maybe that last is because their infielders are slow, but I don't necessarily think so. I wonder how much the lack of ground ball outs affects their infielders ratings?

    I think Varland and/or Kuechel will be critical for giving their other starters time off in September. Ryan has had several weeks off recently. Maeda had 6(?) weeks off in the early summer months. He has had 10 fewer starts than Gray and Lopez. I do think however that Ober and Gray especially need to have their turns in the rotation skipped a couple times in the next six weeks. Pablo possibly also although he does look much better than the others. Since the Twins rotation is highly critical for their success, getting them in as good a rested position as possible is necessary I think. If we lose a couple extra games along the way so be it, we'll be better in the playoffs I think. Many position players have had time off due to injuries, plus a constant rotation of players. Maybe Correa could use some extra time off, I think that would help him be stronger in the playoffs. Buxton usage is up in the air still I think. If he can get in the outfield a couple days a week, that would be good for this year and next. The Twins don't need to finish with a 10 game lead or even the current 6 game lead. Best physical condition of players should be the goal over he last 6 weeks.

    I'm surprised that Julian is rated that much higher than Polanco. Granted neither is in the gold glove rankings, but Julian has looked better at the position than at the beginning of the year. I think it would be acceptable if he can reach 0 for his OAA rating. Maybe all the more reason to give Polanco more time at first base.

    I think possibly that Jenkins could make the top 5, but I don't think we have anyone else who would still be in the minors too long if they were a top 5 prospect. I hope for a constant 5 players in the top 50-60 range. If they are working their way through the system ranked that high, then the team should have plenty of consistent talent available for the big league team. By the end of next year I would like us to have 2-3 pitchers working their way up the top 100 list, although I don't see who that could be due to injuries.

    I'd hold off on bringing up Henriquez until the end of the month to see if he maintains he 3 game stretch of good pitching. Unless someone can pinpoint exactly what he changed that made a significant difference. His control has certainly improved, but why is the question. Even his first game of August was very bad. On the other hand other than Theilbar and Pagan(ulp) no one else seems too reliable in the pen right now. Floro has been ok, but seems like an explosion waiting to happen. So maybe giving Henriquez a shot earlier than September comes with cross the fingers, close the eyes and throw salt over the shoulder. I might bring up Varland to pitch out of the pen or preferably start a few games instead of Keuchel.

    I'm all for trying Polanco at first base right now. He is an established major leaguer and is not likely to get the yipps at a new position. With Lewis at 3rd and Julian at 2nd we have 2 rookies playing those positions. Correa and Polanco can help them with positioning. I would give Polanco 3-4 games a week at first just in case Kirilloff doesn't make in back this year. I would prefer an experienced player at first in the playoffs, which I think is where the Twins are heading. I would prefer not use Gallo ever, but if he is the only established player on the roster, come playoff time I would use him over a rookie at the position. I don't consider Polanco a rookie.

    Tigers put a lefty in there for 2 1/3 and the Twins got nothing but 5 strikeouts. On the plus side Julian got 4 hits and Lewis 3.

    If Martin can play center without smashing into walls and being injured all the time he can fit great. High obp and lots of steals, with occasional pop and he can lead off for the Twins. Julian can lead off, but I think he would do better batting second and letting Martin lead off. That would make a great 1-2 punch.

    I would prefer not to play either Jeffers or Vasquez at first. Since the Twins have had so much trouble against lefties, I would drop Gallo and add back Garlick to the roster. He has played 20 games at first base for St Paul this year. If Kirilloff doesn't make it back this year, Gallo may be the better option for the position, but I also expect the Twins to see all the lefties that their opponents in the playoffs have.

    Looking at the list neither Lee nor Martin have played with the Twins yet. They are also not on the 40 man roster. Hopefully next year changes that. I'm ok with the list with the first and last names removed. I only see 3 other players who would qualify, Celestino, Balazavic and Henriquez. Although i lean towards Balazavic and Celestino, pick any 2 you want and added them in at #9 and #10. Or stop the list at 8. It is interesting that 25% of the 40 man roster is 25 and under.

    I think Correa could help tutor Julian as a second baseman. Probably as good as many infield coaches could. I suspect he can also help cover some defensive short comings, that don't include playing on the second base side of the bag. I think many people forget all the defensive shifts that were put in place not just to cover hitters, but to cover defensive deficient players. You can't put second baseman in the outfield any more to increase their range.

    I think in the shirt term there are several options already mentioned. Long term, I think the Twins should have a month long first base school and try out camp this winter only for players in the system. Invite players like Lewis, Lee, Julian, Larnach, Wallner, Severino & Williams to spend some time learning the ins and outs of firstbase. With the top 3 getting more time in spring training at the position. The position belongs to Kirilloff full time, but he won't always be available. There is no reason to put yourself in the position of needing to keep a poor performing first base alternate clogging a roster spot.

    Doesn't look like Festa will make it to St Paul this year, but I think he could start there next year. His whip is still pretty high and his control still needs work. It's good to see ERod with an obp of 394 and Rosario is not far behind him at 375. Looks like these 2 should be at Wichita next year.

    The Rangers have 2 left handed starters, depending on who Scherzer. With Scherzer I not sure it matters but they will probably have him replace a right hander against the Twins. Cleveland has 1 left handed starter and both Bieber and McKenzie are on the 60 day disabled list. I think the Twins can go 6-7 in this 13 game stretch unless they decide that the heart of the lineup needs to be their veterans then more likely they go 4-9.

    I'd agree with the trade part except it would definitely be trading low. But if he doesn't have a position to play its also kind of hard to raise that value. Its good thing, but it's also too bad to be in a position of trading seemingly talented young players. i assume swap for pitching.

    Too late to trade him, if that was really ever an option. I'm all for bringing anyone up to replace him. Even if we have a revolving door with 3A trying out guys.
