  1. I really like the top 9. I thought Prielipp was getting knocked down too far before this week's update.
  2. Lesko drops and the Twins should pounce.
  3. I never mentioned a 5 per cent profit. The S&P 500 increased 30% last year. Stocks have averaged over 8% for decades. A 5% franchise annual increase is not good compared to stocks.
  4. If you think a 5% increase is good then I'm glad you don't manage my money.
  5. The Twins need to base their 40 man decisions based on 2023 and 2024. With Berrios gone, Maeda on IL, and the injuries to most of the top pitching prospects last year there's a slim chance of contending. Surprises can change the thinking in July but at this point protect those with upside potential in 2023 and 2024.
  6. https://www.skornorth.com/wes-johnson-on-twins-pitching-prospects/ Jordan Balazovic Q: Balazovic’s had some ups and downs in Double-A. Where do you think he’s at right now? WJ: We could have left Jordan alone, he would have low walk numbers. We challenged him to throw his changeup more, challenged him to do some different things with his breaking ball. It’s a growing process. There’s times he goes out and feels good, there’s times he’s not, he struggles, and falls behind in counts. I’m personally excited about what he’s doing. We challenged [Griffin] Jax to do some things with his slider. He did it sometimes. Gotta build on those. Same thing with Jordan. We challenged him to throw his breaking ball this way in these counts and he did, we got success with it, now we just got to get it more. We challenged him to throw his changeup 30 percent of the time in the game, he fell behind behind a lot trying to do it, but he started to get better as the game goes on. I’m excited about what he’s doing. Q: What’s Balazovic’s ceiling? Can he be a 1 or 2 starter in the big leagues? WJ: That’s a tough question anymore, especially with today’s game. I think that’d be easier to answer five years ago, three years ago even. Now, I see him being a good MLB starter. Hopefully a tick above average major league guy. If he reaches his full potential and ceiling can he be a 1 or 2? Sure. But I just see him as being a good MLB starter.
  7. He raises and lowers in a quick fashion but after that his delivery mechanics are fine. He probably opened his hips early on the downward plane early in his development and used his herky-jerky to keep weight back before going towards the plate. The Japanese pitchers use a pause in their delivery to keep their weight over the rubber. The key for every pitcher is to be repetitive and their mechanics smooth towards the plate and on time. He's fine. In addition, hitters hate something different.
  8. Good faith has a lot of gray area. 1. AK is not the best defensive LF (Cave) 2. Rooker was up at the MLB and got injured. 3. Is AK better than a platoon of Cave/Rooker? 4. Maybe the Twins want to use AAA to improve his defensive abilities in LF and 1B. 5. Maybe the Twins are going with the hot bat at the end of ST or not. The Twins could use a few of the above to justify AK being sent down. The Rays did the same with Evan Longoria until he signed a long, team friendly contract. The Twins Front Office needs to put the TEAM ahead of any player. Getting an extra year is much more important than a few weeks.
  9. I wonder if his "knee jerk" motion provides the same benefit as the hesitation movement of Japanese pitchers?
  10. No disrespect but it's not close. 1. Maeda 2. Berrios If Berrios is hurt the Twins have no shot on winning a playoff series. If Kepler is hurt then sub in Larnach/Cave/..... Trade value: nothing is more valuable than a top starting pitcher being paid less than the market (see Rays).
  11. My wish list 1 - Beeter 2 - Nicolas 4 - Servideo - Ole Miss SS
  12. Manfred is clueless. He didn't want to set a precedent by vacating the title. Instead he set the precedent that you can keep the title if you cheat. He needs to be fired. New commissioner needs to do the right thing and vacate the title. After next week (Red Sox), there will need to vacate two titles.
  13. What I want: - Apology - Donate playoff earnings to charity - Vacate Title (player should come out and say this)
  14. The World Series should be vacated. Illegal acts should not be awarded. The only reason this wasn't done is because the commissioner reports to the owners. Fiers should be praised by every baseball fan. Fiers could have been anonymous but he was willing to take the heat. An ESPN baseball announcer thought Fiers was wrong in coming public. She is wrong. Cheating is wrong. Cora and other Astro cheaters unfairly stained everyone in that dugout. Obviously Hinch, Fiers, and probably others were repulsed by the cheaters but sport culture and peer pressure are hard to overcome (not justifying their no-action during the cheating time period).
  15. (2) 1sts and (2) 2nds, 5 mil, GM & Mgr 1 yr suspensions for a World Series. 1. Above is a very light penalty. 2. $50 million penalty to the owner sends a signal to fix the cheat at all costs mentality. 3. Fine players caught in scandal. How about 50% of their salary? 4. Take away WS rings and team WS trophy. 5. Besides draft picks, no international signings over 100k for two years. 6. Two years suspensions for GM & Mgr Did the Astros and Red Sox not know right from wrong?
  16. Big Mike is better because he's one year further from TommyJohn. Bailey is better than Perez. Hill is better than Gibson. Most significantly Big Mike and Hill will be available for the playoffs. Trust in Falvey and Levine - they have earned it
  17. 101 wins, improved starting pitching and kept all of the top prospects. I believe in Falvey / Levine until proven otherwise.
  18. Hernandez pitched well in AAA. He would be a good candidate for a surplus OF.
  19. Yes - a mixture of the following Dobnak Smeltzer Stashak Thorpe Use of bullpen games like the Rays Sanchez/Oliver low cost FA
  20. 1. QO Pineda 2. QO Odorizzi 3. Sign or trade for an impact pitcher 4. Limit Graterol innings in the minors (two to three months) so he can pitch into October. 5. Groom top pitching prospects for 2021
  21. I see Lewis replacing Gonzalez's role in 2021. Playing everyday but at different positions: 3B, SS, 2B, and OF.
  22. Wade, Baldelli, Johnson deserve F's for last night's game. 1. Wade must understand the game situation up by one run in a low scoring game that he can't take an unnecessary chance (esp. when his dive is short by 4 feet) to turn a bloop double into a triple. 2. Baldelli & Johnson set up Graterol to fail. First batter is a little weak .229 hitter so they order two sliders from a rookie pitcher who throws 99 MPH. Stats must be used correctly. If a weak hitter normally pulls the ball, what does he do against top pitchers or top velocity. Perez is a .225 hitter standing three feet from the plate. The most likely event is a slap hit in the opposite direction against 99 MPH. Let a new rookie who sure is going to amp'd up to pitch to his strengths.
