  1. How about a little out of the box: Rosario for Stroman and GIles
  2. I want no part of anything close to the Archer deal. Every Twins fan would regret the trade next year and probably this year. Archer and Syndergaard are over rated.
  3. Looked at the minor league statistics of Cave and Arraez. Cave has been .270 and 3:1 K:BB while Arraez is .330 and 1:1. Arraez K:BB ratio is similar to Mauer's ratio in the minors. Not saying he's as good. Just saying the K:BB is at an elite level and with a very high average.
  4. Gordon has "better tools" is why he was drafted 5th overall in the draft. Arraez is a better hitter. He has demonstrated a higher average, a higher OPS, and his BB/K ratio is unbelievable. He's also one year younger. His better skills: - Pitch Recognition - Strike Recognition - Hand to Eye coordination Gordon is a nice prospect. Believe your eyes when Arraez bats.
  5. Arraez is younger than Gordon. Gordon may not stay at SS. Arraez is a much better hitter. Watching Arraez take an at-bat is like looking at art. Gordon is rated higher here only because he was the 5th pick of the draft. Enough said.
  6. Jose Miranda is rated way too high. His track record doesn't indicate elite hitter. One could argue he's being pushed aggressively through the system but I think his rating is from being drafted in the 2nd round and hoping he turns the corner in the future. I would have Luke Raley rated higher.
  7. Celestino and Alcala are MLB pre-season #15 & #18 Twin prospects and rated 45. 50 prospects not on protected list: Thorpe, Gordon, Gonsalves, Baddoo. Plus a number of 45s. Not to re-hash the Ramos-Capps trade but I certainly don't want to repeat it.
  8. I hope any trade includes quantity instead of quality prospects. Trade 2-3 2nd tier prospects instead of one 1st tier prospect. The Twins roster is going to get expensive (especially SP) and they need low cost replacements. My 1st tier untouchable list: Lewis Kirilloff Balazovic Graterol Duran Enlow 1st Tier Nearly untouchable Larnach Javier Rooker Arraez Rortvedt
  9. Interested in the reasonig why Jeffers wasn't in your top six.
  10. Nice article on Chalmers http://oaklandclubhouse.com/oakland-athletics-2018-top-prospects-dakota-chalmers-rhp/
  11. Twins also lost Chargois while keeping Kinley on the 40.
  12. Falvey needs to face his big blunder and cut Kinley. He's not a pitcher. He's a thrower which doesn't work against MLB hitters.
  13. There are many Carew jerseys. I recommend against signing Rod.
  14. Morrison's 2017 WAR was 3.7. If you are correct that: WAR is worth $10.5 mill then Morrison would not be paid $6.5 million for one year. If the Twins paid any more than $7 million for one or two years, they would be paying for longevity as a Twin and not market performance.
  15. My guess the Twins have told Dozier's agent that they are not interest in a 3 year or longer extension. Dozier understands either he gets traded at the deadline, he accepts the QO if he continues playing well, or becomes a Free Agent. The Twins must set aside budget for extensions for their young players (Buxton, Rosario, Kepler, Sano, Polanco, Berrios) starting in 2020 or sooner. If he is on the roster all year, then he probably gets the QO and the market will dictate where he plays next year. For valuation: it's not just the 2nd round pick but also the compensation that needs to be included. Is Morrison, Gordon, 2nd pick at $7 million better value than Dozier at $15 million for three years?
  16. I view Sanchez as an insurance policy. Add another arm for depth. Downside is he pitches terribly in Spring Training and the Twins lose $2.5 million.
  17. Patience. Let's wait and see what happens with the remaining free agents.
  18. Baseball heritage was one pitcher per game. So baseball has changed and evolved over time. Let's get rid of pitchers who only pitch to one batter. Two Rules: 1. A pitcher who starts the inning must pitch to three batters. 2. A pitcher who comes into the game must pitch to three batters. It speeds up the snail pace of games. It adds even more strategy. It'll probably add more hits and drama.
  19. Not protecting Burdi is Falvey's biggest mistake. A team only needs to carry him for 90 days (half of the full year since he'll be on the 60 day DL). In addition, 30 of those 90 days will be in September. So a team essentially needs to carry Burdi on the 24 man roster for 60 days excluding September (2/5 of the full year minus September). Plus the flexibility to take him off the 60 day DL at their preferred time.
  20. Assumption - other GMs are not idiots. Other GMs understand good/bad seasons, peak and low values, and age affecting performance. No one is trading younger pitching (close to the Majors) for Santana. Santana has strong value for the Twins and you make a decision at the trading deadline when a contender may be desperate for a starter (see Garcia trade).
  21. Palacios is the same age as Blankenhorn. Palacios out hit him in single A. Palacios is playing the more difficult position (SS vs 2B) Blankenhorn is rated higher. Are you assuming Palacios power was a one time occurrence and Blankenhorn will develop much more power? Would you trade Jay before any of these players? My answer would be definitely NO. Jay has potential of a power closer. Jay is way under rated in your rankings.
  22. Seth, Nice work as always. I know you reduce a relief pitcher's ranking but if tomorrow another team offered a trade and you could keep Granite or Jay, your rankings indicate you would want to keep Granite. Right now, I would not rank Granite above Jay. Jay has too much potential compared to Granite.
