    I accidentally let my MLB TV subscription auto-renew. I have probably already watched more games this year than last.

    That is the question, isn't it. I don't see anything going on with the hitting that screams "unsustainable," and there are a couple of spots that I think could improve a bit. The pitching is more of a mixed bag. I don't expect them to keep it up, and the real question is how much will they regress? Will the starters continue to go deep enough into games to keep the bullpen from collapsing?

    That uniform in the photo is possibly the ugliest in the history of baseball. We really should photoshop it out, even if we replace it with something drawn in Paint. A cartoon version of a real uniform is better than a real version of that cartoon uniform. It is a good photo, though. Tell the folks in the background they better pay attention to the game or they are going to get drilled with a foul ball.

    We need to welcome Derek Falvey to TD, since it looks like he's reading. We have plenty of other great ideas around here, along with some completely ridiculous ones. Choose wisely!

    Let's test that theory using Tepesch - if he spends the next two years in AAA he should be ready to win the Cy Young in 2019, right?

    Careful - that was the subject of a recent debate that ranked up there with tastes great/less filling for being fierce and irrational.

    I don't remember one before and haven't seen one since. We will see other great players, but the great ones tend to have fewer good comps.

    I like pistachios and I like ice cream, but not together. Just not a fan of green ice cream. I do have a new favorite, however. Braum's (it's an Oklahoma company) Sea Salt Caramel Cashew. When I first saw it, I thought "sea salt is just salt, caramel is OK, and cashews (like pistachios) don't go well with ice cream." Then my wife bought some, and when the selection got down to that and something with coffee in it, I broke down and tried it. It was awesome. They had better not discontinue it. If you're ever in Oklahoma (or within a 1-day drive of their headquarters in Tuttle, OK - that gets some N Texas and S Kansas) you can try it.

    Me too, but if he pitches like he did today, that would be fine, too.

    Grossmann is vanilla - useful but boring. Rosario is mint chocolate chip - looks cool, but no nearly as good as you think it could be. Kepler is cookies & cream - pretty darned good, and if you wait a minute they may add some hot fudge and whipped cream to make it outstanding.

    We have them here in Oklahoma too. We don't get temps in the -30°F range, however, which is what I think of when I think about the Dakotas.

    The curriculum at the service academies is similar to other universities, with the exception that there is more emphasis on technical majors. There are some military-specific classes, but nobody starts military flight training until after graduation. The military also places a heavy emphasis on fitness and has many specialties that do require elite physical strength and conditioning. Varsity sports play a big part in recruiting the people needed to fill those positions. I would guess that for every one they keep by enforcing this rule, they will lose 10 recruits who aren't ready to give up the pro dream right after high school.

    Has he expressed any opinions on what role he envisions for himself? I have seen a lot of speculation on how he could be used, but nothing about how open he is to an unorthodox role.

    Hare to see Stark go, but I'm sure he'll turn up somewhere. I hope Bowden either retires or gets hired by the Yankees. (You know the saying "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy"? I would.)

    He might have been suspended for 40 games instead of just one.

    I agree with all, especially 1 and 4. Those guys are the future. Plan B is start all over again. They need to give them every opportunity to succeed, because plan B isn't very pleasant to think about.

    Our last manager that had the personality of a box of Triscuits won the World Series twice, so I'm OK with it.

    I think it's a valid point of discussion for anyone who has been caught using. How much did he benefit? How long do the benefits last? What is the risk for a 2nd suspension? I have more sympathy for international players caught using PEDs because the laws and product availability in their countries often make it easy to accidentally take something that isn't approved. I also have lived in Germany and Belgium, and I know what a pain it is to have to try to read fine print in a language that is not your own, even when there is a support structure in place. Still, MLB has no such sympathy, and if he slips again it 1 year, I believe. That's going to be a factor in evaluating his value.
