I was always kind of partial to the John Castino low stirrups with the pant legs fairly high to show more of the socks. (IIRC his theory was he would get fewer called strikes lower in the zone. He was a fun player to watch - it's a shame he hurt his back.

I guess my MLB TV was behind a bit. I hope Chief didn't finish off the chicken already.

Another hanging curve, another near heart attack. Roy and me both.

It seems likes spotting the other team 5 runs is the new winning strategy. Do you think MLB will change the rules so we don't have to waste the pitchers' arms, we can just tell the umpire to put 5 on the board to start the game? It would work sort of like the intentional walk thing. If they don't go for that, I guess we could just intentionally walk the first 5 guys and then balk 3 times to bring everyone in. That seems more time-consuming than it needs to be.

I didn't pay the money, only saw a few innings on TV, and still fell like I got ripped off. I guess that happened when your team has three #5 starters and six guys who should be hitting 9th in any lineup with a DH.

Nah, I saw a photo a couple of nights ago. It just collects frost in the chief's freezer.

So you want Giminez hitting leadoff, is that what you're saying?

Any update on Sano's hand from last night (other than he's not in the lineup)?

So, if Big Sexy comes out for the 7th 8th ... what's the leash? The 7th sure looked easy.

I didn't think the pitch quite got to the corner. It looked maybe a bit low and maybe a bit outside. Usually two maybe's = ball.

I'm not big on unwritten rules, but I wouldn't let Rangers hitters get too comfortable in the box next inning, either. If you know what I mean.

Along the same lines (and just as bad): https://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/comments/2ihn17/a_frog_goes_into_a_bank_to_get_a_loan/ Link only, because I can't bring myself to post it on the site, even if it is a game thread.

It was January-February and we certainly didn't want to talk about the Vikings. Maybe this winter will be different. Sorry, my irrational optimism is reserved for baseball season.

Q: R2. GB to 2B, throws to 1st for the out. R2 keeps going past 3rd and is thrown out at home. GIDP?

The only positive in the game was a recycled pitcher - the team-record 30th on the year. The Rangers TV crew made the comment that they had just been in Seattle, the Mariners had used 33 pitchers already, and it wasn't a team record.

Maybe he's a Padres fan and just doesn't are what the bear does.

I was close - I guessed I Dream of Jeannie instead of Bewitched. Same era, just slightly before my time. Both went off the air well before we had color TV or more than 3 channels (1 CBS, 2 ABC, until one of the ABC affiliates switched ... to CBS - big help there.) We did a lot more reading and listening to the radio than watching TV.

It was better than being out of contention in April like they were last year.
  22. gil4
I wanted an almost-MLB ready catching prospect (or the equivalent) in return for our "proven closer."
  23. gil4
How many teams would see him as an upgrade in LF? How many of those would see him as a big enough upgrade to give up something significant?
