  1. Am I the only one to read this as "Ms." instead
  2. I expect some bumps as almost all pitchers have in their first year after TJ surgery, but I'm happy so far. He is more like 1.5 years in at this point.
  3. Earlier I spoke to the negatively of the site. To be honest, I was speaking to the Front Page, not the forums. Forums by nature should be a community element that doesn't editorialize. There is good moderation here. Keep it up. But the tone on the Front Page is is very disproportionate. I respect different voices, but it's clear that pay-per-click payment leads to poor content. Articles that literally end with "what do you think?" are the epitome of this. A strong article doesn't end with an open-ended question. It makes a statement. Half of the Front Page articles literally steal an idea from the forum 3 days later and rephrase it as a question. I started following this site because of well written, thoughtful analysis. Now, many of the blogs I purposely didn't follow have moved their writers here. Long ago, I started following TD because it was an alternative to the Twins Hub on Star Tribute. It's become the Twins Hub all over again. Sorry for any typos. Either I've had too many beers, or the site is bogged down so much I can't proofread.
  4. Was this really a peculiar use of Duran though? He has something like 40 saves in my his career. I think it easily fits the bigger pattern. The era of the "closer" is over. I think the far more interesting take is mentioned in the article: that rule changes encourage new strategies. Even this simplest change has a trickle down effect. I could care less about closers and save records, but here's my obligatory editorial rant: Manfred, stop changing the game! Simple is better. Almost always, but especially for baseball.
  5. The reason mugshot posting is often cited as in poor taste is because the mugshot is taken at arrest. Pre-court. It doesn't matter if you were guilty/innocent to get a mugshot. And its presence online can hurt you for life. There are literally vulture companies that archive and repost them, then blackmail people without criminal records. Just thought I'd share, but now I'm bowing out of this conversation and back to baseball.
  6. As punishment for the quality of his AB today?
  7. Yup. At least Jax mostly got out of it in the end.
  8. I think we all knew in the 3rd it would come down to bullpens. And given experience, it was likely which starter would exit first.
  9. Do we have a 0 earned runs game on our hands?
  10. The pitchers' duel we all predicted. Impressed with SWR today. So much that I might even spell his full name next time.
  11. I feel like it's one of those jobs like organist where the giant corporation "lets" people do it almost on a volunteer or severely underpaid position. Maybe I'm mixing it up. That would be weird, as they're almost the official archivists.
  12. I was hoping for some classic small ball, but I'll take it. Coming through when needed.
  13. Garver has been pretty Kepler like in his career, hasn't he? (up, down, in between, and generally unpredictable)
