I'm going to hit this entire post pretty hard and suggest you reread my entire post. First, I said that of course we can be critical of players. I never said we couldn't criticize someone of a different race or ethnicity from ourselves. So please don't jump off on one point out of context to say something that I didn't say. Second, the part you quoted came within this context: we don't know for sure with anyone when criticisms become personal what is the underlying reasoning. It could be nothing, but it could be something. Followed by, I can wonder, and I do. I question myself as much as anyone else on quite a lot of things, and I think that's what everyone should be doing. The most I can do is be criticial that someone is being disrespectful ... on either side of this ... and I was also clear on that. None of us knows why things are said or not said. And because I might wonder why is not an accusation. This is exactly the problem ... so now we can't even question anything at all? Then nothing changes.

No one is saying that he can't be criticized. Because, yes, he should be running out a pop up ... and he knew it based on his personal reaction when he got back into the dugout. No one is saying Sano can't be either. As I've stated many times, let's keep it to baseball. But there are some posters who are attributing some of the errors and misplays and conditioning by making assumptions and accusations of personal character. And that is something that is done more often to non-white players ... not all the time, but quite a lot, and a disproportionate amount. And to make that observation and ask the question why that is, isn't accusing anyone specifically of anything other than wondering ... are we racist in some way? Do we have some kind of bias? This is why posts and questions of this nature are being moved to this forum and not allowed to continue in the other forum. Gunnar knows that I have come down on him in the past for making broad accusations, and I will come down on people who start bringing into the Sano conversation that he's lazy. I mean, why say something like 'Buxton isn't smart enough?' Where does something like that come from? For me, as a moderator, I can't moderate assuming it's something other than disrespectful, and I will and have moderated that from both sides of this coin. But I do think the broader questions that stem from these things should be discussed and I think we should each be open to examining our own individual actions.

Yep, it’s part of the U.S. And the U.S. as a whole has pretty much given far less attention to their needs post Maria, which makes it even worse, imo. They are part of the U.S. yet we as a whole seemed less concerned and vigilant toward their reparations and basic needs than other parts of the U.S. also hit by hurricanes this past season. Still, technicalities aside, it’s good that MLB can bring attention to the devastation that was and still affects PR.

Maybe they can’t play a regulation game but it would be fun to see them scrimmage there, or practice. I hope they are warm enough (not trying to pun with the weather there, I mean warm enough in their baseball playing) and ready enough to play their games against Cleveland without having games for the last three days so early in the season.

Depending on when this game is made up, we will try to reuse this thread. It will serve the dual purpose of game Thread and a good look back. Chicago isn’t a lot better but just warm enough better that we aren’t getting snow, gratefully. As of this writing. Typically in spring the temps here are cooler than in Minneapolis. I did IP location searches on accounts I knew were spammers and got locations in India, Germany, UK, and all over the U.S. So, if they’ve registered a non-sensical user name I will likely tag the account and just watch the others. When we are getting a lot of spam I notice a LOT of new registrants to the site. I don’t always know who’s legit and who’s not but again go off the selected user names, especially if there are multiples with the same basic name with different numbers behind them. But it’s not always easy to just ban a location. We do have users here from various parts of the world, too, so there is that to consider. Those decisions are really up to Brock and all the moderators can do is be aware and delete/ban when there is an uptick in spam like there has been this week.

No, we don't. It's been addressed. And it won't stand. I, personally, like to give some leeway of a newly posted thread, even if the subject matter is tiresome, which I think this is. I guess I still hope for adult behavior and people wanting to discuss baseball and not dissect the personal characters of players and/or other posters. I think it's fair for posters to be concerned about Miguel the baseball player, I don't think it's fair to address those concerns attacking his personal character. But neither do I think it's fair to immediately jump to conclusions about other posters' characters as being racist when they are frustrated with a player's performance. Yes, I think there is some of that going on, but I don't know from specifically whom, so I don't think it's fair to label everyone in that manner just because they don't like someone's performance and give baseball reasons for it. But character assassinations need to stop, all around.

MODERATOR WARNING: It's one thing to have concerns about where Sano's future is going, what kind of player he will be and will he fulfill the hitting role many of us hoped for, it is quite another to attack his personal character, something none of you know anything about first-hand, as reasons for his performance. This thread is not about his personal character and those assumptions and accusations will not stand. Period. Another person who references him as lazy, doesn't care, fat, too egotistical, doesn't have a work ethic will be pointed from here on out. It’s fair to have concerns about Sano’s condition and it’s fair to have doubts about his off-season and how the surgery and allegations could have an effect over all. However, please address these concerns of him as a ballplayer respectfully, without attacking his personal character. You can have complete disdain for a player, but respectfulness is not a choice on TD. And in reference to respectfulness of others, posters who jump to conclusions about other posters' characters will also be pointed going forward. Thank you.

You risk the response of having your account being flagged as a spammer and all your posts going away by posting like this. We’ve been having some issues with spammers. And while we are trying to stay on top of it, we can’t be here 24/7. So if you see spam please report it and then be patient.

Some States have a ‘shoot first, ask questions later’ type laws. They are vague and tend to defend these biases.
