Doesn't Ricky still vacation with Giancarlo? One of their starters, Tom Koehler is sporting a Nolasco like 1.56 whip - at least Ricky can say his are usually against AL lineups. And Miami is still in the wild card race. We could add Plouffe and they can see what Bonds can do with him.

I think this will be an interesting thing to monitor and I can see TR being assigned to reduce payroll because revenue was reduced, classic Carl Pohlad style of tail wagging the dog at least in a baseball sense of the mid-90s Twins. Ironically if it meant trading Plouffe, Millone, Nolasco for anything, and Dozier and Santana also for the right returns I think we'd all be fine with it. I would think if TR thought he's on the way out, we should see extensions soon for Suzuki, Nunez, Abad and another one for Hughes. -
What will be interesting to see is if a different coaching staff can help him adjust and (quickly) get him out of a funk.

Brock I get it Mauer's been bludgeoned to death in every thread for 3 years, but '2017 lineups' is all we have to hang onto here, so can someone please imagine him hitting in the bottom 3rd?

I would think the amount of money thrown into a Nolasco or Santana trade will dictate the quality of prospect returned

I'm not a Bruno hater, but Park, Grossman, Buxton, Arcia, Mauer, Plouffe, Rosario etc have not improved on seemingly anything this year while at the Major League level. Suzuki changed his bat - likely not from Brunansky's suggestions. I don't understand why you wouldn't try (coaching) change for change's sake during a season of futility.

I could imagine owners holding the current GM responsible to cut payroll at the trading deadline to make up for decreased revenues.

Grossman can DH some, Mauer can DH some sliding Kepler to 1st. I think I'm on board with the people who say Buxton's proven he can hit Triple A, so he just needs to keep learning here. I guess Park hasn't proven he can hit AAA

So it's all just happenstance...the young guys could be Bryce Harper but check back in a few years? How would the team be doing if the rotation wasn't total garbage and the bullpen wasn't a pathetic collection of the same? You're coaches can't extract adjustments from the veterans like Dozier and Plouffe? Your plan for catcher was a backup traded for an outfielder who finally showed progress in development? Delaying development of the youth with retreads like Grossman, Ramirez and Tommy Millone act IV? The bungled yo-yoing of Polanco, who should be platooning with Dozier at worst? The absolute lack of preparation of Berrios and Chargois when they were brought here? It's all just a little bad luck.
