    I hope that along with looking at how they're acquiring these players and what has been going wrong, they also look at the development side of things. So many of these guys, especially the hitters do well in the DSL but then almost all just hit a brick wall when they come state side or by A ball at the latest. Something is clearly wrong with the system for as little as they have to show over this amount of time. Wish we could have gotten a full system reset, but I guess we're stuck with Falvey.

    If this team really is close to a sale, I can't imagine the new owners being ok with this if they have good intentions. If they did, you could look at some of the pitchers and the bullpen locked down for a couple years and think just maybe if I get a new coaching staff in along with a couple bats, we can compete. This seems to be more of a at least we'll make enough the first 5 years to pay off that team debt if we get payroll down to about Pittsburgh level. I will be absolutely shocked if at least one of Lopez, Ryan, and Ober are not moved in the offseason.

    I'm afraid a lot of pitchers are going to have the Twins number this year. How can you take a lineup seriously with Ty France and Mickey Gaspar batting 5-6? Fedde probably thought he was unexpectedly demoted to AAA.

    I think where they need to improve as someone noted is consistency as well as approach. The lineup is filled with guys who can be red-hot for a few games then borderline unplayable for weeks. Approach-wise they've got a bunch of guys swinging from their heals like 30-40 HR hitters that hit about 15 HR. If they just need to get in a guy from 3rd or need a 3-run HR, the approach seems to be the same. They're bad at baserunning, bad at defense, bad at situational baseball. It doesn't cost you extra payroll to do the little things right, but organizationally they don't seem to feel it's important. As a result, they seem to be less than the sum of all their parts.

    With essentially using 3 rookies in the rotation, not a surprise they're collapsing. More concerning is the bullpen isn't good outside maybe Jax and Sands. Defense is bad. Baserunning is bad. Even outside Buxton and Correa being injured, the guys that are there have been terrible. Look at 2nd half numbers for Willi Castro, Ryan Jeffers and Jose Miranda. Julien, Martin and Lee do not look like MLB caliber players at this point in their careers. Just not a good team right now.

    I think he's got a spot as a utility guy, but not sure he'll be more than the 25th/26th guy on the roster. He's not great defensively but does have some versatility. Very little power, I do think he gets a little too fly ball happy at times and would like to see him try to slash line drives, go to the opposite field more. He also needs to use his speed better. While he's 2nd on the team in sprint speed, he's a little slow from home to 1st and he should have more than 7 SB in 214 PA. Even Margot is faster from home to 1st. Maybe there's some things he could do to get a better first step or something. He is good 1st to home or 2nd to home. Hopefully he can pick things up offensively (has been better recently) and up his stolen base game, then we may have a weapon off the bench or to occasionally start.

    Rough game to watch, seems like any team that can do the fundamentals halfway right and run the bases just runs circles around the Twins. They essentially turn any single or walk into a double by easily taking 2nd at will. The org needs to fix this and learn to control the run game. They likely also need to add a pitch/tweak Festa's existing pitches in the off-season otherwise he could be in danger of heading to be a reliever. He just gets eaten alive the 2nd time through a lineup. Luckily, he doesn't have much experience so there is time to hopefully make adjustments.

    It was brief, but to me he passed the eye test when he made his appearance. Don't know how he carries that forward as far as control and command, but he seemed interesting. As for Okert, I wouldn't even bother replacing him with a lefty. I'd much rather a competent right-hander take the mound than throw Okert out there. I cringe when he enters the game, Richards and Thielbar too.

    Looks like Prielipp had 3 walks, not great, but better than 5. Agree with others, seems to be a stamina issue for him early on in his comeback from injury. Would be great if he could develop as a starter but I'd take a dominant lefty reliever as well if nothing else. Expectations still pretty low for me on him, some pitchers just can't stay healthy, and he's hardly thrown since he was in high school.

    Obviously, both would get starts, Ryan scares me a little more than Ober. He seems to get away with a lot over the middle, we'll see how that goes against the better lineups in the postseason. He deserves a start though. That said, it wouldn't be a valid reason not to make a trade. If Woods-Richardson and Festa falter down the stretch, and/or the bullpen blows game after game, there likely won't even be a post-season. They still have a shot, but there was ample room for improvement.

    That thought entered my mind. Maybe the most upset I've ever been at a draft pick at the time. He had those bloodlines though!

    Guess I don't get to be excited about the 1st round pick every year. Not as easy picking outside the top 10. Hopefully he'll pan out to be a solid player. Maybe they think they can change his swing and get more power, but not a very big guy and doesn't seem to have much plus other than a good arm or a definitive defensive home. Doesn't seem to be a ton of upside either, but never know, I guess.

    Midco is also cut off from Bally's as of today. Not completely sure of their reach, but at least a chunk of SD, ND and part of MN. Can't believe this can last long as combined with Comcast it has to be a pretty high percentage of their customers cut off from Twins games.

    Have to disagree, he was ok. But he was hitting .226 with a .665 OPS. He can have some value with his speed and playing multiple positions but at this point he's a light-hitting utility player with good speed. I do wish he could stay up to have a good pinch runner available. The runs scored were nice, but how much credit goes to luck, of the hitters behind him coming through with hits while he happened to be on base? Up to this point, Miranda has had a more impactful bat and is a more natural replacement for Royce Lewis at 3B while he's on the IL with Farmer struggling. Obviously, Martin will be back, and I think there's a good chance he will replace Willi Castro in 2025 as they have similar skillsets and Castro is starting to become expensive for a utility role.

    I don't take the young guys coming up from the minors last year and finding success to necessarily validate he's a good hitting coach, I see it as almost damning those guys he wasn't working with found success and now he's had them awhile they're going downhill. Look at Julien, the guy looks like he's going to pull a muscle he's swinging so hard. I also agree there is an organizational problem both in talent evaluation and strategy. It was pretty easy to see Manuel Margot and Carlos Santana are not very good, yet they went and got them. Santana had a very good career, but he's largely shown he's cooked since 2019 with last year being an outlier. Their all or nothing approach seems to feast on bad pitchers or bottom of the barrel bullpen guys in blowouts when the pressure is off.

    Pretty spot on, I'd be right in that C-/D+ range. Still excited about the season as they have what should be a pretty solid team, but the disappointment stems from them having a chance to be a legitimate World Series contender, but they replaced some very good players with largely salary dumps from other teams. I acknowledge the challenges with the TV deal, but it was never going to be zero, but they seemingly operated like it would be. I didn't expect them to sign someone for $30M a year but didn't expect moves reminiscent of the 90's and a large decrease in payroll after the way last year ended. This team will still be exciting to watch, more so than the first half last year. Before the young guys came up the way Gallo and Buxton were going, they were almost unwatchable, and I think that played a role in the attendance being low. I think the offense will be solid, especially if Buxton and Correa are healthy. The bullpen should be good. The rotation is where they will sink or swim. As it looks now, it should be good enough to win a weak division, but they look like a team that'll be quickly bounced from the playoffs. That could change of course. Maybe they acquire a legitimate #2 starter at some point. Maybe someone else steps up, hopefully.

    I really hope this doesn't happen, had a .646 OPS last year and .629 the year prior. I would much rather them just play Farmer and Castro if someone needs a day off. If all else fails, give Martin a chance. I'm not real high on him (Martin) but he can probably manage those numbers and could be a great option off the bench to pinch run late in games and maybe steal a base.

    Gordon will be on the team (unless traded) on opening day, outside of just being terrible in training camp. I don't think they offer him arbitration if that wasn't the plan. I know, not a ton of money, but they're pinching pennies like it's the late 90's lately. What role they have in store, I have no clue, Castro is probably better in the same role. Again, another LH hitter, no real point in plugging him in at 2B, LF or RF for Julien, Wallner or Kepler against a tough lefty. Has never been a big enough bat to consider at DH. Larnach is in a tough spot, one of way too many LH hitters that can play the OF. His best shot is probably being traded to a non-contender that will just play him and he doesn't have to look over his shoulder after a bad 2 week stretch and gets the chance to make the adjustments at the MLB level. Miranda I'd say is most impacted. His most likely chance was to be a RH bat backing up 1B and maybe 2B, occasional DH. Santana takes up two of those. Outside of injury I see him at AAA. Kirilloff should only be slightly impacted as long as he can stay healthy and produce. This is the make it or break it year for him. Last year, he was coming off multiple years of the wrist thing and nobody knew if that surgery would work. He didn't do too bad when out there. As long as the shoulder thing is in the past, maybe he can settle in and show us what made him one of the top prospects.

    I'd say 1 year deal preferably. The guy has on and off had some really rough years and I think 3 years would be a potential disaster. Especially coming into his age 32 season. He's better than most of the names discussed though. One was Kike Hernandez, seriously? The lineup could be especially week against LH pitching (OPS below .500 for Wallner, Kirilloff and Julien) and with a starting rotation that is filled with question marks, they might need to score a lot of runs. Really hard to like this offseason so far, they lost Sonny Gray and Kenta Maeda and subtracted a guy that would have been hitting near the top or middle of their lineup for a middle reliever and a bargain bin starter (I get they got prospects back, but this is what they did for the 2024 team). It would be hard to argue Gray, Maeda and Polanco are not far > than Topa and DeSclafani. Soler would help some, but still isn't making up that deficit. Maybe they've got another trick up their sleeve, but kind of sounds like that trick will be someone like Soler, Duvall or Hernandez and selling a $30M or so payroll drop.

    Pass on Bader, just no interest in him other than if he was basically $2M or less as an extra OF. My guess is there will be a market for MAT, I like the guy, a real class act too if you see him interviewed, but guessing he will get too expensive for the limited funds the Twins will have. I could see them trying to pass off Bader as a viable candidate, hope not. A little early to put Martin out there too, pretty questionable defense and bat. He showed a little something at the end of the year last year, I'd want to see him start the year strong in order to consider him at this point. Castro pretty much fills his role right now, multiple positions and can steal bases. At $3.2M projected arbitration this year, I could see them replace Castro with Martin in 2025 to save money if he can show he belongs. Hopefully that's replacing him as a bench role and not starting CF.

    Couple things they need to look at in the offseason. One, is find a new hitting coach and change their approach. This was the way it went far too often this year. I don't want to see these young guys take on the Buxton/Gallo type approach. Two is to realistically judge if Buxton can play (in CF) next year. If not, they need more production in the outfield. Three would be take into account postseason performance (to an extent) with who they're bringing back. Some guys don't like the spotlight and can't get out of their own heads. The younger guys I'm a little more forgiving, especially if AK was actually playing hurt (why was he paying if he could barely swing seems to be a legitimate question). The way Jeffers played, he's obviously coming back, but I'm not exactly lining up to offer him a multi-year deal. Kepler, probably moving on. Not just a reaction from the last at-bat but was pretty cold in the series and just kind of reverted back to an indifferent type of attitude at the plate. Too hot/cold to count on. End rant, lol.
