  1. Ted, this was really well done. With all the moves at the dead line, I'm still trying to keep everybody straight. I think they are going to do it again this season.
  2. I haven't officially heard, but I would guess they have or will. My best guess is, they will use this opportunity to try and buy out 2 or more free agency years. At this point in time the risk is about equal for both parties. Then I hope they approach Rosario. I believe there is a lot going on, on many different levels.
  3. Cave is a reasonable replacement for Buxton. Cron and Cruz should be able to replace Sano's production. You put the pieces together now, you don't wait til July.
  4. This is simple. If Gibson regresses trade him at the deadline. If he continues to shine, extend him 2-3 years or give him a QO.
  5. That's one interpretation, but it is certainly not mine. You do realize there is still all kinds of time to make moves? Calm down, take a deep breathe. There were fundamental changes in free agency last off-season. No one knows how many or if any of those fundamental changes are permanent. Let it play out. Plenty of time to panic later.
  6. Cron plays 1B and Cruz is primary DH. Austin goes to the minors where he belongs.
  7. Every team has a very long list of players with them for less than a year. Also, this board was in one hell of a hurry to add players and still is. I see Cron as a decent pickup.
  8. The Twins aren't intent in treating 2019 as an evaluation year.
  9. You do know Hicks was a lost cause until he was almost 28.
  10. But the Twins are planning on being competitive. It's still very early in free agency, but the direction to this point is clear, cohesive, and consistent. Keep watching, the night is still young.
  11. When I think of a TR signing, I always think of Sano, Kepler, Polanco, Buxton, Berrios, Santana, etc. How about you?
  12. The night is still young. I believe Jim Callis said we have 2 long term helps who will be ready next season.
  13. Free agency is 9 innings also and we're only in the 2nd or 3rd inning. Plenty of time to make the big splash.
  14. Polanco is part of the core. He'll move to 2B when Lewis is ready. Would not be surprised if we try to buy out some of his free agent years at some point in time.
  15. Mercenaries poisoning the well last season? I completely missed that. Feel they should block Lewis for a season or so?
  16. I'm close with this. I would move at least 2 of Stewart, Mejia, or Romero to the pen, then move them back to the rotation next season. Do we know if Mejia is healthy?
  17. It didn't hurt the team last year though. I hope we have another trade deadline, reasonably close to last season. I thought everyone knew, very difficult to lose on one year deals. Let's do the one year deals again, have another outstanding trade deadline, but have our stars on the playing field much more often this season.
  18. If you lived in Chicago as long as I did, you would be more worried about the St. Paul Saints than the White Sox. If your only concern is the Sox, indeed the Twins do have forever.
  19. By stars, you mean the 2 month rentals? I believe they may do that again at this year's deadline. I see us getting another haul.
  20. Theo is not looking real smart right now. I found myself on the Cubbie board recently and they are hoping he retires and goes back to Japan to pitch.
  21. I would be shocked if payroll isn't reasonably close to last season. The only one I would offer a commitment to at this time is Rosario.
  22. Completely agree.
  23. Whose goal is that? Cano's contract may be the worst in baseball. Darvish's contract, which if memory serves, you were quite fond of, may be close.
  24. We have as much young talent as any team in baseball. I would take a shot, if the Met's are doing more than just kicking tires.
  25. They are not going to block Lewis by giving Iglesias a long term contract. He's solid, but not a difference maker. Polanco will be more than adequate until Lewis is ready.
