    Congrats to Jeffers who had a memorable MLB debut! Berrios’ outing is very encouraging, but it can’t just be one start. We need to see this on a consistent basis.

    Concur. Romo looks comfortable closing out games this year, and should remain in that role. I like Duffey in the fireman role who can come in anytime to shut down a rally. Rogers should spend a couple of weeks in low/mid leverage outings to get his swagger back.

    It’s difficult to consistently keep their sinkers down in the zone. If that trickles up an inch or 2, that pitch is ending up in the 3rd deck. I still have nightmares about Carlos Silva. He was able to keep his sinker down during the 2005 season and had a career season. The very next season he couldn’t locate his sinker and his ERA ballooned to 5.94. As you said, not having an out pitch is the big concern. Without that, Dobnak is walking a tight rope every time he pitches.

    If the playoffs started today I would trust Maeda as the game 1 starter. Berrios is still young enough to cling on to hope and potential, but he’s not there yet. He’s looking like Scott Baker more than what you’d consider an ace. Dobnak’s been great for 50 MLB innings. I simply don’t trust sinker pitchers to last. We’ve seen it time and time again. For now I’ll keep quiet and see how long the Cinderella run lasts.

    Berrios is a liability this year. It’s disappointing to see the regression.

    Depends on if you think the 2020 season matters, or if it’s just an exhibition. If it’s the former, give them all some time and see who clicks at the plate. If it’s the latter, leave them on the St Paul squad and wait until next year to start their service time clock.

    This probably doesn’t bode well for Nick Gordon, who just got cut in line for potential MLB playing time.

    I'll be surprised if any major trades happen this year. And I would consider every name mentioned in the OP as a major trade in 2020. What owners are willing to take on additional expenses this year? Slim to none. What owners are willing to cut costs? 100% of them.

    I don’t know why we had to open up this old wound again. Hated the trade at the time, still hate it today.

    In one week of MLB play, 15 games have been postponed and 8 teams affected by scheduling conflicts due to covid. How are they going to make up these games? And when is it going to be bad enough to pull the plug on the season?

    I’m really not looking forward when we inevitably normalize a player testing positive for covid and added to the IL. Followed up with discussing the strategy of who will take their spot in the lineup. Makes me very uneasy to be frank.

    2 months of public negotiations and horrible PR, only to go back to the original agreement. As Tom said, this was supposed to be the easy part. These heated negotiations have lost the casual fans... probably some diehards too. I can’t get my hopes up with this development. They have a ton of work to do outlining health and safety protocols. NBA/NHL have been focusing on nothing but that since March and still can’t figure it out.

    Worst case, if this whole professional thing doesn’t work out for him, he’ll be the GOAT in any slow pitch softball league!

    If it’s going to be just 50 games then let’s truly make this an experimental season... Robot umps, automated strike zones, pitch clock, etc. Let’s implement all of the ideas that have been tossed around the last couple of years and see what actually works.

    Nevermind. I got fooled by how the owners are splicing up the funds. All they’ve been doing is repackaging the same proposal over and over again.

    Here’s an excellent thread that lays out the difference between the latest proposals over the last couple of weeks. The latest proposal of 76 games for the first time gives me hope the owners actually want to negotiate.

    Lol yep! Only I alone get to decide what’s right and what’s wrong in this country. Drew Brees thinks kneeling = disrespecting the flags and troops. His teammates, the people he spends a vast majority of his time with, used kneeling to bring awareness to police brutality on black people. He took the symbol BLM used to peacefully protest and made it about himself and his beliefs. The timing of his comments are bad. His comments were insensitive and dismissive of what’s going on in the world.

    What’s the cut off age when you’re supposed to know what’s appropriate and what’s not? I’m 30. Am I in the group with Drew Brees who should know better? Or am I in Max Kepler’s group who can post something stupid then backtrack saying I don’t know politics ✌️

    His opinion doesn't matter because it's wrong. I didn't think this was hard to understand. Athletes have been saying for years exactly why they kneel during the national anthem. It's his fault for not listening.

    Drew Brees got destroyed because he once again took kneeling at the national anthem as disrespecting the flag and troops. Same stance he took in 2016. When he’s been told countless times kneeling is representing the police brutality against black people. He’s a white guy who’s way too comfortable in his bubble and refused to listen and learn from others. Drew Brees with his family history gets to weave this patriotic story of what the flag means to him. And he’s ignorant of the fact that many people look at that same flag and see something completely different. He needs to open up his eyes and realize his grandpa didn’t have the same experience coming home from the war as others.
