Understand Camarago is a better option behind the plate. He is a good defender behind the plate with a big arm and has show pop in his bat. But if the Twins are going to force him to sit in AAA hanging onto Vazquez you might as well trade him and get value for him. You do always need a 3rd catcher option. If in 2025 the twins are lowering or keeping there payroll a major league minimum play needs to replace both Farmer and Margot. Helman and Martin would be perfect replacements but you have to find out in ‘24 if they can do it.

I think you give some guys thru the month of June but Kiriloff Farmer Margot ones going to be off the roster. Vazquez gets through the month as well but a serious discussion on Camargo is needed. If you’re going to ride out Vazquez this yr and next maybe you look at trading Camargo. I have heard Chris Williams has been focusing on his defense behind the plate and has really improved. Is him and Winker viable 3rd catchers? one of Kiriloff Larnach and Wallner aren’t part of the future and a decision in which one is needed. If the Twins are going to have a similar or lower payroll next yr I would consider moving Kepler at the deadline. Bring up Michael Helman! The bats getting hot he can play the Castro role and do everything defensively Castro can. The next injury to any position player should be Helmans job.

Yes you move one group or move on makes way for guys further down to move up. Kai Rosario and shobel to move up if Keaschall keeps hitting he will likely move to AAA. Have to move one of Walner, Larnach Kirilloff while they have trade value. If Keirsey and Helman can provide you the same value as Farmer and Margot you can save yourself 10 million next yr. You have to give them an opportunity and see

Gotta make a decision if Prado, Helman, and Kiersey are big leaguers or just AAAA guys. Walner, Larnach and Kiriloff are all mid to late 20s and are all very similar. 1 of them has to go this offseason.

Twins organization is going to have to thin out the upper minors at the deadline. Have a log jam of COF and utility “prospects” in there mid 20s. Going to have to find a spot for them or move on to make space and ABs for prospects to move

What’s Left For Emmanuel Rodriguez at Wichita?
High heat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins are going to have to make some decisions on MLB/AAA outfielders soon before ERod can go to AAA. Is Larnach a big league starter? What value to Margot have, time to cut your losses. Is Kersey a big league 4th outfielder? Or just a AAAA player. Whats the deal with Walner at 26 is he in the same boat as Larnach. My opinion is to cut ties with Margot use the spot for Kersey. Larnach has less then a month to prove he is atleast better then Kersey and Martin before time to send him down and probably out of the organization. ERod is a full yr in the minors left. Would like to see it at AAA though. See if he is the Kepler replacement in’ 25.- 49 replies

Welcome Back, José Miranda. We Missed You.
High heat replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What are the chances that one of Kiriloff Santana or Larnach are healthy and playing well in a month when Lewis is back? I would say pretty slim. I know everyone try’s to look at the roster on paper but if the first month has taught us anything just throw your plan out the window. Your roster is 50players deep. (Your entire 40 man + 10 or more of non roster guys who can hopefully contribute). -
Farmer and Castro will likely spit time at 3B. Farmer will still get time at 2B and Castro will still get time in LF. Julian will likely get more time in the lineup against lefty’s.

I like to see the faith in Wallner. He must be working on something specific and Twins are ok with the poor number knowing he is working on it. Larnach doesn’t have much left in the organization. Whether he was going to fail anywhere or organizationally failed him is unknown but probably deserves a chance elsewhere. Miranda gets healthy and can figure out a bit of plate disappoint he will be fine. Glad to see all the utility guys still in camp. Wa hoping to see Chris Williams a bit more behind the plate but I think that has sailed.

Twins 2024 Position Analysis: Right Field
High heat replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think the shift ban helped Kepler a lot even if it was just between the ears. He has always had a good ability to put the ball in play. Before I think he was trying to place it in play and lead to a lot of soft contact to LF and up the middle. Last year second half I think he felt more comfortable just hitting the ball hard through the hole and it turned into more hits and extra base hits.- 17 replies

Ryan seems to be a constant tinkerer adding a Sinker down and in playing off the fastball up can get you some nice ground balls double plays and out of innings without having to get deep in count all the time which is where he struggled with hanging pitches.

When Will the Twins First Need a Fifth Starter?
High heat replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You still have a month before he is needed. I think they will be going with 4 in the rotation and a long man. DeSclafani on IL to start the year getting 2 starts in St. Paul. It becomes a discussion if by next week he hasn’t taken the mound or has a set back. Did we by damaged goods and we have to talk about Varland taking his spot out of the gate. -
What if Matt Wallner is Just That Good?
High heat replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Wallner might be that good. He looks to have a plan at the plate and listening to him talk he seems very self aware and aware of how pitchers want to attack him. Depending on Buxton health atleast early in the year Wallner will likely face RHP 90+ percent of the time and get pinch hit and run for late in games with Margot and spell by him against LH SP. As far as Wallners defense have I seen something different? I thought he looked ok in LF especially not playing there much. An offseason to prepare and ST to get used to LF I think he will be decent. A healthy season at the pace he played last year puts him close to a 40HR guy from the bottom of the order. WOW!!- 39 replies

Could a Non-Roster Hitter Help the Twins Roster?
High heat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don’t think Martin is an option at SS and 3B. When Lee and Martin get called up I think they want them playing everyday. If you need someone to play the same role as Castro or even Margot that’s where they would fit in on a less then everyday playing time piece.- 36 replies

Could a Non-Roster Hitter Help the Twins Roster?
High heat replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
None will make the opening day roster. Injuries though out the season occur and an injury to Lewis early (before Lee is ready) one would get the call. If Castro turns into a pumpkin or gets injured Helman can step in and fill his role. If Farmer goes down I think Helman would be the easy choice to fill his role. Does Goodrum have an opt out? That could change if he is gone or the Twins feel the need to keep him.- 36 replies

Catcher seems to be the only spot without a second and third layer or solid ready to contribute depth. I think they have a nice layer of insurance and solid depth that there won’t be much drop off once injuries occur. hoping on big things from Canterino, Lee and Martin.

Miranda is a much better prospect comparison to Donny Bats. At times you need a guy to pinch hit and out the ball in play (guy on third less then 2 outs) and can finish the game in the field. You rarely need a guy who might run into one but likely will strike out late in a game and isn’t an elite defender.

There is going to be fierce battles for playing time for the saints!!! Is Miranda a first baseman/DH only? Does that push out Chris Williams and still seem time behind the plate? Or is Severino still an option around the infield? Whats the CF situation/order Kersey, Martin, Helman. Where does Prado Goodrum fit in full time? How does the pecking order go in the saints bullpen?

I think people view MAT as the healthy everyday CF we saw in ‘23. That was a career year!!! He isn’t getting any better at 33 and lots of players can’t put up # without consistent ABs. Margot has been a platoon and part time player he has a skill let that fits assuming Buxton is able to play CF regularly or semi regularly.

Uh-oh. Simeon Woods Richardson is Throwing Gas Again.
High heat replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He was sitting 88 to 90 with a fastball and struggled with control. Sitting that low velo you can not get major leaguers out without pin point control of all pitches. If he is sitting 92 to 95 with the movement he gets from offspeed and the rise on a fastball (makes the velo play up significantly) now you something. The control continues to improve and he can keep the velo throughout the start and season he is absolutely a major leaguer. If the velo is constant at 94 95 and the control and consistency of the slider and changeup he is a major league 1 or 2. His stuff+ is elite. -

High heat replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I sat and watched his bullpen and warm up yesterday. The circle change up and the command of it will make or break him. Glad the radar gun was popping mid 90s. I was much more impressed with Jair Camargo. He has a cannon! And is a big boy and the ball he hit to third for a single was scorched! -
Is kike Hernandez in 2024 any better then Michael Helman? Helman is a better defender at SS and CF. A better basestealer and hits RH for the league minimum and can be sent up and down. So unless he is signing a minor league deal I don’t see it. Better $ spent on Adam Duvall or just saving the $
