    All AZ did was bring in "names" with no experience in their roles. I think most MN fans are hoping, not for names or even experience in a specific role but guys who have been mentored in a different way of operating a franchise. We brought in a "name" when we fired Gardy. You still need someone to bring in ball players.

    July 2015 thru May 2016 with no month higher than a .216 average is not streaky it's lousy.

    It might be nice to be talking about a guy who puts together great SEASONS not half seasons. Had he tacked this years 2nd half on to last year's 1st half we just might have made the playoffs. Had he started this year the way he finished or even the way he started last year who knows how much differently things may have played out this year. At least IF he finishes out this year the way he's played the last 3 months he will have put together a 4 month season rather than the 3 month seasons we've grown accustomed to.

    FUNDER. A few fun blasts from the past on that list. Bob Gorinsky, Randy Bass, Danny Walton & Funder. On a side note, if you debut in 1981 and are still on a prospect list in 1985, you probably never were a prospect.

    You could put ANY name you want as the second word of that last sentence and I would be in total agreement. That being said, I'd fully expect Albers to try to shut me up by tossing a gem tonight but I'm not holding my breath.

    Happy to see Wimmers make the show, but, and I've been very clear and vocal about this, I don't EVER want to see Albers on the big league roster again.

    Carew was never a stellar defensive player, certainly not at Mauer's level at his position, especially at turning the double play, and the injury certainly didn't help. The fact that the Twins lacked a classic slugging first baseman at the time contributed as well. The presence of guys like Lyman Bostock, Danny Ford & Larry Hisle helped overcome some of any perceived power shortage his presence at first may have caused.

    No, actually, he is a 2+ WAR player THIS season. He COULD be a 2+ WAR player next season or he COULD drop off the face of the planet. As Paul Molitor once said (and, no, I am NOT a Molly apologist--I think he should have been fired for playing Sano in RF and May in the pen) advanced analytics are an excellent way of predicting past performance. I'm just trying to maintain CAUTIOUS optimism in light of the fact that he has the same number of home runs in 303 big league plate appearances as he did in previous thousand minor league plate appearances. I'm actually more intrigued with his minor league double and triple numbers than his home run output.

    Buxton is STILL a kid with fewer than 850 plate appearances above the A ball level. Also sure hope that fact that Kepler's home runs are more than his last 2 minor league seasons combined is not a pre-cursor to him following up his rookie season surprise in Danny Santana fashion. Just sayin

    There has never been a Hall of Fame player who has then won a World Series as a manager. I've yet to be convinced that Molitor will be the first.

    Exactly the type of thinking that has led us to the present precipice. A mid September hiring would mean a 2 month search. Plenty of time to find the right guy.
