This thread? So are you telling me that people don't always talk about Joe's lack of home run power at 1B? Or is that something I just made up? Bottom line is he is one of the best 25 guys on the team. When that changes then the argument changes. As long as he is one of the best 25 it will be up to Joe when he is done, when he isn't one of the best 25 then it won't be up to him anymore.

There isn't 25 guys on this team that are better than him. No matter how disappointing he is to those that want him to hit 25 Hr's per year he is still one of the best players on the team.

Interesting how the minor league teams seem to be sitting in about the same spot as the parent club?

Yeah and that Boston record would probably be 4 - 3 in favor of the Twins had they still had Pressly in game 2 of that series. Nonetheless, it does seem weird how they have played against good teams and then they have just crumbled against the poor teams in the AL Central. Maybe they get all pumped up for Cleveland and then they go into KC and just assume they are going to win?? That's all I can think of??

Just a question, a qualifying offer is for 1 year if I'm correct, who is a better fit at 2nd base for the Twins next year?? Someone who hasn't even played there yet?

This actually does make some sense?? Especially if you are looking to keep your core intact. If you were going to unload Rosario and Sano, etc.... Then no it makes no sense. But if you are keeping the core together then adding pieces that would make the club stronger next year would make sense since it's a buyer's market. But Escobar has really no starting spot on the Twins team if they have all of Sano, Polanco and Dozier in the infield?? So trading him sucks but it was probably necessary so as to give Sano full reign at 3B.

Well I believe that the Twins have winning records against Boston, Cleveland and Houston so far this year?? They've just stunk against KC, Detroit, and the White Sox??

I was listening to the game last night in XM radio, so I had to listen to the Red Sox announcers. Before the game they made some observations about Lance Lynn. They were thinking out loud that Lynn's struggles could be weight related? (Maybe like Sano?). They observed that Lance was probably well over 300 pounds. They mentioned that when Lance was with St. Louis they had gotten him a nutritionist that worked with him and got his weight down and they think that's why he pitched better there. They were thinking that with his weight that he tires out more as the game goes on than other pitchers?? Then as the game advanced, they were talking like; he's going to walk someone here pretty soon, and then the 4th and 5th innings they were both saying someone in our lineup is going to start pounding him, it's getting to that point in the game and then when Nunez hit that double they both said, here it comes! Shortly after the Bo soxs hit that home run and those guys were talking like they knew it was coming against Lynn, it was a matter of time to them. The night before when Gibson was pitching they did not talk like that at all. It was interesting.

I am impressed that he can throw 95 at his age though.

Actually wouldn't the best trade chip probably be Jose Berrios, probably followed by Royce Lewis?? I mean they could get a load of stuff for those guys?

I think the Twins will be sellers but for some reason I don't know if they will be all in. I kinda think like last year when they shot Garcia off to New York and then Kintzler off to Washington they were in seller mode but then they kinda hung on from there? So I could see one of Dozier or Escobar getting shipped off but not both, I could see Lynn going if anyone wants him and maybe a reliever going away, but I just don't see all of those guys going all at once. JMO

Is it just me, or does Berrios look like he has a little bit of a cross-fire?

I know there are some computer gurus out there that can probably figure this out. But my question is.... Have there been any real superstar athletes in baseball that have been sent down to the minors as many times as Buxton has?? I mean I see guys like trout and etc.... When they finally get the call they for the most part, stay up?? I can see being sent down once, but it would be interesting to see how many great players have been sent down multiple time like Buxton has. I would bet there hasn't been many?

Yeah, I think that they need to use all 7 - 8 arms in the pen, no sense in using the same 3 or 4 all the time. On pace for 90 games is a lot.

Part of the problem could be that the Twins have been in a ton of close late games this year. It hasn't helped that they have come on the wrong side of many of those games. The Twins need to bust out and blow a few teams out of the water to get guys like Magil in there more often. If they had won more of those close 1 run games they'd be in a much better spot. So hopefully they can have a few more of those 9 - 3 games like the other day so as to rest those bullpen guys like Pressly, Hildy, Reed etc...

On the other hand however, Buxton has never let himself get to 300 pounds either. I know different body types, but Buxton, I am assuming is willing to do the things that they tell him to do, so maybe Sano is getting demoted all the way down to work on more than just his swing??

Man they have to start hitting, or walking, or stealing bases, or doing something to get some runs across the plate. These pitchers are going to go through some cold stretches too, they aren't going to pitch like this all year it's the nature of the game, so they really really need to take advantage of all these good starts they have had.

Who cares about all the other crap, I hope he blows them away!

I find these meniscus tears and surgeries interesting, as a high school coach. I have seen a few kids go through these procedures. The one thing that I have witnessed first hand is the fact that every single athlete who has had his meniscus repaired, (which in my career has been 6 of them), every single one of them, 6 for 6, has within weeks of being able to return to competition has re-tore that same meniscus, it has been like clockwork, no athlete that I have had with the repair has made it through the next season without it re tearing. Now on the flip side I have dealt with 8 athletes who have had meniscus removal procedure done, 5 of them were in the first 6 who had the repair the first time, so there is some crossover. Of those athletes all of them were almost back to normal within a couple of weeks? So far in my experience, it doesn't seem like the repair method has done so well for those still competing. Now it is possible that because Castro has probably one of the best doctors because he is an MLB player and all that his might work out better. But it would seem in my limited experience that 6 for 6 meniscus failure is not a good ratio. Especially for a catcher squatting down all of the time. This procedure might be 90 to 100 percent effective for a guy or gal that works in an office and just has to walk around all day. But it seems that to me once the athlete starts to put the same stressors on the injured meniscus it tends to fail again. I just wanted a more professional opinion, mine is just a layman's opinion from what I have seen happen to my athletes. I am a wrestling coach, so there is a lot of twisting and pounding going on, but it would seem that a catcher would be dealing with a lot of that himself? I thank you in advance for any extra info on this type of situation.

I was at the game. Escobar made as good of a play as he could. The Twins left 9 guys on base, so they had their chances to plate a couple of guys. Mauer came through nice in a pinch hitting situation. The Twins have been playing pretty well lately, it would be nice to see the whole squad together soon. Sano, Polanco, Santana added to the mix.

I wonder if Kennys Vargas would be hitting .170 right now with 4 homers like Morrison??
