Front Page: What Happened to Eddie Rosario’s Defense?
Twodogs replied to Andrew Thares's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Someone somewhere also probably said a few years back that Nelson Cruz has lost a step too. I find it difficult to replace a guy who has been doing it at the Major league level with some guys who project out to be Major league players. Eddie is a really good player and you're just not going to replace him with some guy who has never played at the MLB level as of this point in time. Now on the other hand, if when guys like Buxton go down with injuries the Twins were to bring one of those guys up instead of wade and Cave then they would be able to see if they can replace them.- 71 replies

Front Page: 2019 MLB Trade Deadline Review
Twodogs replied to Cooper Carlson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Yankees will probably get a #1 starter by about Sept 15th in Severino. The Twins don't have anyone like that lurking around about to do a rehab assignment. -
I wonder if some of the GM's don't particularly care for Falvey and Levine? You know it's possible, maybe not likely, but possible that this is still a good ole boys club and maybe some of these GM's don't deal fairly with the Twins GM's. I know the Twins were deep into the conversation with Toronto for Stroman, to me it's weird that the Mets got Stroman for very little? Like where Toronto might have wanted some crazy sum of parts from the Twins but gave him to the Mets for what seems like not much? Seems like every off season these guys have been left behind by all of the super signings even though they have been very much in the conversation with all of the players? I'm just wondering if these guys just aren't part of the group? So we end up with guys like Nelson Cruz who is 39, but is having an amazing season and other moves similar to that? I know it sounds terrible, but I'm just wondering?

I think many of the prospects mean very little to the Twins especially with the core they have at this point in time. Buxton, Kepler, Polanco, Rosario, Sano, Garver, etc... There really isn't a lot of space on this team for position players in the minors. In my opinion many of those prospects should be worth more to other teams than they are to the Twins. Use them or eventually lose them anyway?? Go out and get a couple of relievers and or a starter and a reliever, etc....

I think Romo is better than Parker. Now hopefully they can get a real frontline starter and move Perez to the BP. Im hoping for Syndergaard??

Gallo prob isn't really a true CF, prob more like a firstbaseman playing in the OF, sorry Gallo, but that's just my opinion, anyway, he was moving towards the play, so in reality he probably gets thrown out more often on that play, not less. If Jackie Bradley, or one of those dudes made that play, Buck is still out. It was prob a 30 to 40 percent chance he gets gunned down if you consider that most CFers are better than Gallo, hell Buck would have thrown Buck out. Also the problem wasn't that Buck was faster than School, it's the fact that the ball was faster to 3rd than School, even if Cron is running the only way School scores is if the throw beats Cron by so much that he is able to stop and get caught up in a run down. Either way you look at it it was a bad play, because of 2 factors. Because 3rd base is not that important with 2 outs already, ground ball or sac fly doesn't do anything for you. Base hit scores Buck from 2nd and the one thing that no one is talking about is that it was a tie game. Had the Twins been up by 5 or 6 runs then it doesn't really matter, but it does matter in a tie game. Buck has been playing great baseball, he is one of the reasons the Twins are in first place. But that one was just a bad play, a mistake, it happens. You just hope he learns from it for a really important game like in the playoffs.

Mejia nibbled too much. Then he got himself in trouble and had to bring it and it got crushed. I would have rather seen him give up a solo shot or two rather than two walks and a three run bomb.

One of the Cardinal rules of baseball. Do not make the 1st or 3rd outs at 3rd base. He just didn't need to advance as he can't score on another sac as there are now 2 outs anyway and he can still score on a base hit as he was standing on 2nd? I also get it that most people will say that the Twins just haven't hit in clutch situations very well but even when someone is going good they are going to get out 7 out of 10 times so they need to take advantage of productive out when they can and getting thrown out at 3rd for the last out which nullified Schoops run was really bad. By the way Buxton has overall been doing a fantastic job this year, that was just a bad play that cost the team a win. So does something like that reduce his WAR?

He should consider what the score keepers must do when it goes a long ways into extra innings? Is there an official score sheet that goes 18 or more innings? I mean anyone can scribble into the margins and such. So unless there is an official score sheet that lasts that long did it really happen? I mean if Talbot tried to go to a court of law and the official score sheet only goes up to say 9 or 10 innings and then there is a bunch of scribbling on the back of the sheet or in the margins would that really fly in a court of law?? I think he could be in trouble for shoddy accounting. He might be looking for a new job after the lawyers get ahold of this?

Article: Twins Sign RHP Cody Allen (Minor League Deal)
Twodogs replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You know, I guess after thinking about it, yeah it's a no lose situation, stick him in the minors and see if he can find something? If he doesn't nothing is lost, if he does, everything is gained. I think I have been thinking along the same lines with Ryan Madson, he could come in and be really tough for a couple of months at the end of the season? He has been just two years ago and he pitched in the world series last year so he'd be another one I'd try to bring in, stick him in Rochester for 2 - 3 weeks and see if he can regain some magic?- 38 replies

I agree with you on the numbers, innings etc... But it seems like Rogers comes in during almost every high leverage situation. Today that high leverage situation should have been, in my opinion, when Yelich came to the plate. Not have to take care of the 4 hitters prior and then have to get Yelich. This is where they need another high leverage arm or two. Just some different options.
-
I think one of the problems is that he is being over used a little. Let's face it, they pulled Harper out and the objective was to get Rogers all the way to Yelich. If the Twins had a better guy or two they would have waited to bring Rogers in when Yelich came up, not 4 hitters ahead of that. For instance that is where guys like Addison Reed, (had he performed like he had in the past), and Fernando Romero or last year Pressly would have come in. Then when they got to Rogers he would have only had to get Yelich and then maybe one more guy after that. The Twins are going to lose a lot of games like this one until they address their bullpen issues. However at least they will often times pound teams into submission where they won't need a perfect bullpen outing.

Article: The Artist Currently Known as Taylor Rogers
Twodogs replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well I'd think that yeah, he would be used in situations where there are a few lefties coming up. I mean if you are sitting there as the manager and you have a choice of Parker or Rogers and then you look up at their lineup card and 3 of the next 4 hitters are lefty I'd think that the manager would automatically choose a lefty.- 8 replies

Article: Tracking Reinforcements for the Twins
Twodogs replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd love that!!! But I was figuring if he were to have hit 30 homeruns in a full season then 22 would be about what to expect from mid May to the end of the year?? Just a guess.- 70 replies

Article: Who is the Face of the Minnesota Twins?
Twodogs replied to Andrew Thares's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hard to have a face of the team when everyone is on a one or two year deal. That leaves Polanco and Kepler as the only real dudes with long term investment into them. -

I wonder why he doesn't let the silverdome and Astro dome hang out with him for coffee. What does he think he is too good to hang out with other domes??? See even the MD wants to hang out with other open air stadiums. Racist. I wonder if he let's Mike Ditka hang out with him? Didn't he call it a roller dome one time?

We aren't going to make this go away with trades to the Yankees. It came to me in a dream last night, the injury gods started their focus on the Twins when we gave the Red Sox the Holy Grail, David Ortiz, at that point the Red Sox instantly became immune to these Yankee soothsayers, ever since the Babe Ruth trade these Yankees were able to tell the future of the Red Sox based on their stupidity. Once they received the Holy Grail from us for nothing, they were no longer able to do this and it made them very mad, that is why they are focusing on the Twins and sending them their plight. The twins sensed this and even tried to send the Red Sox the anti-christ to their new found Holy Grail in Doug Mientkiewicz, but the future had already been put into motion and nothing could stop what was to come in bean town. The Twins will never please these God's of injury plight by trading the likes of Aaron Hicks to the Yankees, that's not biblical enough. To avert these God's focus the Twins are going to have to trade something to the Red Sox that will once again send bean town into a tailspin. Someone who is Deemed to be really good, but in reality becomes their Achilles heel. Our most perfect opportunity last year would have been sending Brian Dozier to the Red Sox. That's a guy that everyone everywhere feels that needs to play everyday, but now in Washington is hitting .091. it's that kind of catastrophic trade let down that these guys need in order to avert their magic on the Twins. I have no idea who the Twins should send to bean town this year that could break this spell and save the likes of our tourtuga. Maybe Odorizzi?? Is he maybe deemed good enough that they have to start him all of the time, but in the end will let the Bosox down Everytime they face the Yankees?? I'm not sure, but that is what my dreams told me. At least it was the dream in-between the one where I was supposed to make french toast this morning and the other one that told me to take up snowboarding so I could hang out with the swedish bikini team? IDK, it made sense though?
