But in reality what everyone is saying is that because of the velocity of the pitches that now the pitchers have less control. Since they have less control if they hit someone then eject them??? I mean on the roads and highways if all of the cars drove 100 mph then the drivers would probably have less control, with less control more accidents will probably occur. What would we as a society do?? Lower the speed limit? Right? But that example in itself hits my point, there are also other factors at play here. I really don't think the pitchers have a lot less control than Gibson or Ryan, but the hitters didn't stand on top of the plate when those guys were throwing. So what responsibility are the hitters taking as far as getting hit by pitches?? Back off an extra inch or two and less guys get hit by unintentional pitches.

Problem is that the pitch wasn't that far out of the zone, fact is that Buck started his swing and his hand hit the ball, penalizing the pitcher by ejecting him is dumb. Pitchers that throw at hitters on purpose already get ejected so I don't see the problem.

Maybe Buxton should sue MLB? Had he been able to use more arm padding maybe he doesn't fracture his wrist? This injury could possibly rule out a 30 million dollar per year contact for him. All because MLB banned some extra padding?

So let's ask ourselves what were the hitters doing differently to avoid them, because we know for a fact that Gibson used his inside pitch as a weapon, he has said as much. Also, the HBP were almost identical from the late 90's to the early 2000's?? What was the difference then? Why did no one worry about it back then? So what were the hitters doing differently so Gibson wouldn't hit them, and he did some of them on purpose.

No Nolan Ryan threw hard. Lots of guys have thrown hard, guys like Gibson basically told people he'd hit them if they crowded the plate. I mean there are guys who go up there in certain times in the game and allow themselves to get hit so as to get a base runner.

First question is I wonder why there were so many hit batters in the late 90's early 2000's?? I wonder if some of it has to do with hitter's approaches? I mean this is a little radical, but remember how close to the plate Barry Bonds used to stand? Is there something that the hitters are doing differently that is not allowing them to get out of the way? These are just things that cross my mind first before I start blaming pitchers for hitting batters. Maybe the hitters need to use more equipment, again I'll refer to Barry Bonds, he was well protected when he stepped into the box. I mean ejected for hitting a batter? What if the ball hits the dirt and then hits the batter? How many times have we seen a batter take 1B after having his uniform grazed, I mean it's a little ridiculous to me to think that a player can get ejected because he hit the batter? Should we eject all hitters who hit the pitchers with line drives? I mean I'm sure occasionally some of them want to hit that pitcher, but most of them are just doing what they are taught and driving the ball back up the middle, but I mean hey, if a pitcher gets ejected for hitting a batter then I think the batters should get ejected for hitting the pitchers too? I think most times you can tell when someone is intending to bean someone as opposed to an inside pitch getting away from him, I mean I have seen numerous occasions where a ball could have been called a strike and yet hit the batter. So I think the hitters take on some of the responsibility as to where they stand in the box and how they load up and swing nowadays so as to not be able to get out of the way. Sucks about Buxton, but I know if I were playing I would be loaded up with body armor just like Barry Bonds was and less injuries would happen.

I picked colome only because he was supposed to sort of be a stopper in the bullpen and hasn't stopped anything. What's worse than giving up the lead late in the game. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. If they can go 28 and 15 they could get to .500 by like game 86. That would be a little past half way. We can dream!

I think it may have to be Buxton that they part ways with this summer. I know that would be extremely painful, but let's be realistic, he's really the only guy that they'd get anything for, plus after what the Twins did to him a few years ago with service time and all I really doubt Buck would ever resign with the Twins ever anyway. So might as well get something big for him? I mean guys like Sano are pretty much worthless pieces right now. No one will part with bag of baseballs for him right now.

I always thought that as the hitters see a pitcher 2 and 3 times through the lineup that they were supposed to get better but it seems like the Twins score some runs at the beginning of games but can't score late ever?

I just wish that they'd sit Cave and lead off with Arraez. I know Arraez prolly isn't the best LF'er but it would be nice to see his OBP to lead off a game. Nice shot by Buck!!!

My worry is that the Twins have a lot of bad losses this year, and I don't mean bad by score, I mean bad by who they lost to, the Pirates? Losing games that you should win really hurts. I know people will say it's early, but it can get late really quick when you lose games to bad teams.

He's at like 33 pitches, Rocco probably should give him some relief now. Want him fresh at the end of the year.

So far Cave hasn't really been prone to doing anything? A few mistakes are ok when you are actually doing other things like throwing people out hitting a few bombs and stuff like that. Plus Rosario was good to be out there every single day. Which was my original point was that you could count on him to show up and play everyday and many of these current Twins don't seem to be able to do that.

I wonder what the longest scoreless streak the Twins have ever gone through?
