    I think this pitching staff probably would have looked a lot lot better last year than how they are performing currently. Berrios had a real nice start in his last game. Lynn has been hurt along with a couple of other guys, so in hindsight, being 20/20 the Twins would have had to fill in the rotation with guys like Smeltzer, Archer, Ober, etc..... So I'm not sure if the Twins would be in a worse place right now with that rotation. Rotation wise the Twins would have had to have used the guys they've used up to this point anyway. The bullpen is interesting for sure. That pen has a lot more firepower as far as straight velocity is concerned. Flamethrowers such as Grateral, Presley, and Duran give plenty of late inning options where they could get that K that they need to end a rally rather than giving up a fly ball for a sacrifice run etc..... With Presley Rodger would be that late inning lefty that they'd need, or any higher leverage type of inning. Plus yes if I'm dreaming of what once was I'd definitely add Liam Hendriks into the pen. Again, he's been dinged up this year also, but going forward he's probably going to be pretty tough.

    I've come to the conclusion that it might not be pampering of the starting pitching on the Twins rotation. I mean limiting pitches and inning is usually reserved for April and part of May to build stamina. What I think this is at this point in time is the twins brass and management don't have confidence in the pitchers in the starting rotation. I mean the Astros have total confidence in guys like Verlander etc..... The Twins pull starters early not necessarily because they can't throw 100 pitches, I mean my 12 year old has thrown 90+ pitches in games, the Twins pull these starters because they don't think they can be successful past 2 times through the lineup. So I agree that I'd like to see starters go longer, but I don't think it's pampering, I don't think they trust them. So like you said it's the 3rd time through the order that the Twins brass is scared of. But my next question is..... If they never get to face the order 3 times, al la in the minors, etc.... How the heck do you know if they can do it or not? Gotta let them do it once in awhile.

    Is it just me? Or does it seem like the Twins always struggle going into the break? Maybe someone has some stats on it, but for me it's just a feeling like in the years the Twins have done well, around this time they seem to struggle and then they have a strong August to solidify their position. Just seems like that's been what they've done. I remember about this time in 2019 is when they lost that home run derby game to the Yankees.

    So what your saying is that there isn't any pipeline of pitching in the Twins system. So if those guys aren't able to pitch for the Twins why would anyone else want them in a trade for their pitchers. I mean teams realistically don't trade their better players for guys that can't get minor league players out. Regardless why are these other organizations such as the braves and the dodgers able to get these guys up to the Majors more quickly?? Are the people in Atlanta just smarter that the people in Minnesota and they just beat them at the draft table every year? Or do they have better coaches in Atlanta and LA where they are just able to get their guys prepared much more quickly? Whatever the reason it probably needs to be addressed. I mean Urias I think his debut was when he was 19? Kershaw 20, May 21, Buehler 22, etc.... I mean the Twins got Berrios up pretty quickly but it just seems to take forever as a twins fan watching these guys rot in the minors.

    Do we have any 24 year olds as good as Ian Anderson?? I mean because if we did we'd be in pretty good shape. Fried 28 MLB debut 23 Anderson 24 MLB debut 21 Soroka 24 MLB debut 20 Wright 26 MLB debut 22 Strider 23 MLB debut 22 Solve our bullpen issues with guys from the system. Quit babying these guys and get them up here. See if they can get Major league outs. If they can't they are young enough to go back and make adjustments. If the twins wait until they are 24 - 25 all of the time they are often too old to really go back and make adjustments. Bring up the young studs, see if Balazovic and etc..... can get outs in the 6th and 7th innings. It's probably a better gamble than bringing in some more washed up guys and trying to re-create them.

    I'm sure some computer program told the computer geeks that the bullpen wouldn't be that much different with Pagan as with Rogers.

    The twins are not built for extra innings. Seems like it's always a mess when they get to this point?

    Twins need to bring in a closer. I know all of the popular theories nowadays says you just need a bunch of high leverage pitchers and that anyone can close. But it sure is nice when you've got one guy that has some balls and you can trust on a nightly basis.

    Maybe the Twins could trade Paddock for Rogers. Oh, wait a min. ?

    Sanchez seems to do a good job of getting strikes on the edge of the zone called balls.

    What is the potential for Duran to be a starter in the future? I just noticed that he pitched 82 games in the minors and 80 of them were as a starter. Could he be brought along like Johan Santana? Use him out of the pen for a year or two and then work him in as a starter? Or is that not possible for him?

    I really like that Joe Ryan has picked up pretty much where he left off last season. He looks like an acey type pitcher in the making. I hope some of those other Young guns in the minors can make something happen also.

    Interestingly enough, Tovar's best ops ever was .798. he only went over .700 ops 4 times in his career. His lifetime ops+ was only 100. According to the newer stats Tovar was only a league average player. I'd like to think he was a little bit better than that. But the new stats are saying he wasn't?

    I think once he clears waivers and refuses a minor league assignment he can pretty much go where ever he wants? And after he clears I believe the Angles still owe him his contract minus whatever the league minimum salary is which the team who signed him would have to pay. I think San Diego would probably be a good spot for him.

    Oh yeah, definitely do not claim him then. I see, a team could pick him up after he clears waivers and not pay him anything. Then if he gets hot could use him as trade bait for something else?
