  1. I was still hoping for them to take a shot at Walker or Wood? I mean they surly don't have the rotation all locked up at this point, but I do see that the 40 man is now full. So I am guessing that they won't take a shot at some more lightning in a bottle, albeit, 27 and 29 year old lightning in a bottle as opposed to 34 and 40 year old lightning... So it looks as though they are done. I mean even if they bring on Donaldson they are going to have to do something about that pesky 40 man??
  2. Dang Gonsalves's minor league numbers are impressive. He seems to walk a lot of guys, which most likely is what hurt him in his brief stint with the Twins, but for some reason, a non flamethrower, you'd think that something like that would be fixable?? Seems weird to me that as pitching starved as the Twins are that they would have protected him??
  3. Am i wrong, or does Romero need to make the roster out of Spring Training, aren't all of his options up?
  4. I think that for sure you need to sign at least 2 of these guys, maybe 3, so as to make sure you at least hit on one of them, they should be inexpensive and you won't have to sign any of them long term, probably all 1 year deals with options. Bring them in, let them compete, I mean they have done this before with Anibal Sanchez. They brought him in, he didn't do so well in spring training and then they let him go. He ended up doing well for Atlanta afterwards, but the Twins weren't really out much.
  5. I may be in panic mode, but dang, I am looking at the TV and my phone constantly to see who the Twins are going to get, only to see others getting people. So I am getting a tad bit impatient. However, I know everyone wants the Twins to trade for an elite starting pitcher, but when your team seems to be a non free agent destination, or a lower tear destination, you know, not the first choice then realistically you need to hold on to your athletes that you are producing. It's the only way to win, for the Twins. So I really don't see any big trades happening this winter. I could see a big trade in July, if the Twins are in 1st place etc... Just because at that time the end is close and if we are in the driver's seat then I could see the Twins risking their future at that time, but not right now. So yes I think Walker, Wood, Hill, and a few other guys out there could solidify the rotation enough to get them to July. I just want them to get some **** done soon, so they are ready to go into spring training and ready to attempt to come back and produce. I am getting impatient, I'd like to see something get done soon.
  6. I guess what could we lose if we gave Felix a minor league deal and a spring training invite? What if he lit the league on fire again? Most likely he won't, but then again we wouldn't be out anything either. I'd say this after we get 2 or 3 other guys to compete for rotation spots, such as wood and walker, then add in a sleeper like Felix wouldn't be the worst thing ever.
  7. For that matter Berrios also. I mean he struggled his first time up too. Has pretty much gotten better each year since. Start the process, but limit him to just Pineda being gone and then send him down for the majority of the summer?? I mean look at most starting pitchers don't do well their first times up, Frank Viola comes to mind also.
  8. Well I think, there might be a difference in innings. I think that the innings Grateral would throw in the Majors would maybe be a little more high stress innings. Whereas the innings in AAA or AA might be a little less stress innings. It would probably take Grateral less pitches to throw 5 innings in AA than it would in the Majors. So I would think the Twins would want to limit the stress on a 21 year old. Maybe they give him the first 5 or 6 starts that Pineda will miss, provided that he performs well in Spring Training. Then after Pineda comes back send him down so as to let him dominate and relieve a little stress going the rest of the way? Maybe he pitches 140 - 150 innings but I think he won't have to work so hard to get through the innings in the minors. Maybe just go with Grateral if he looks tough coming out of Spring, ride him and send him down before he gets wore out? 5 - 6 starts, 30 - 35 innings.
  9. Or use a 6 man rotation until Pineda is back. Then he wouldn't pitch that often.
  10. I don't feel like there is anyway that Tampa gets rid of Snell. Right now they have one of the best rotations in baseball, the team that invented the opener won't be using that strategy next year I don't believe. I'd think if Tampa traded anyone it would be Morton. Right now the rotation looks likeSnell Morton Glasnow Chirinos Yarbrough Mckay Snell is only 27, Glasnow 26, Chirinos is like 25 and Yarbrough is 27. McKay is only 23 and looks to have a very bright future as a possible two way player. To me that leaves Morton at 36 as the guy they'd trade if anyone. Unless of course they get blown away by someone for Snell. Heck the Twins would have to do something big for Morton
  11. However, Boston has won 4 titles since the mid 2000's? Would you be ok if the Twins were a mess right now if they had 4 titles in the last 15 years? I would be.
  12. Yeah get Hill, he has been unbelievable when he is healthy. Prob just need to sit him out until late July and then get like 15 starts out of him to finish the season. Hill when healthy might be better than Berrios. Problem is that he can't stay healthy.
  13. Maybe Romero steps it up this year.
  14. I guess it would all depend on who they have to give up for that one year and the opportunity to throw a QO at him. Also, remember, not many players accept the QO, so they could be left out in the cold again. Looks like Homer Bailey is starting to look good. I guess if every other girl has turned you down to go to the prom, gotta go and ask the one no one else has asked yet?
  15. So you are going to be following the Yankees now?
  16. I wonder how many teams fans are sitting around right now wondering, I wonder what package we could offer for Berrios?
  17. Nice, but they need a starter!! He had a great season last year. Hope he can keep that going.
  18. Just move the Twins corporate offices to like Santa Barbara or something like that. They don't need to know that the team plays in Minnesota, once they sign their deal in the Santa Barbara offices they will be stuck??
  19. No I know, he was terrible last year when they put him in the bullpen. He had that glimps of success the year before in his first 5 or so starts. Looked like he had real promise then kinda fell apart. Maybe he has learned something or found something that he didn't have the year before??
  20. I wonder if they will give Fernando Romero another shot at starting this spring?
  21. They have Cespedes hanging around in there also. He is listed as probable to start the season.
  22. I think the problem is that these teams all need their Syndergaard's way more than they need their Buxton's and Rosario's right now. Almost every team is all in right now to at least make the wild card. Tampa Bay a year or two ago were dumping guys, but they already had their replacements in hand. So Cleveland dumping Kluber isn't really a sign that they have given up either, they already have real good young pitchers to take over. I don't think there is any way anyone will pry a Syndergaard away from the Mets. I mean they are signing 4th and 5th guys for the rotation as we speak, guys like Porcello. You are not going out there and shoring up your rotation for the beginning of the year only to dump one of your best guys. I mean in order to get someone like that it would have to be such an extreme overpay where they couldn't refuse. No one, especially the Twins will offer up some crazy overpay. Right now, for whatever reason, almost all of the teams are all in. Not only that, but almost all teams value their systems more than they used to. So the Twins and a few other teams would develop within and teams like the Dodgers would be out buying whoever they could and would dump their minor league depth in order to do so. But not anymore. Everyone is holding on. Only way a mega deal gets done is at the deadline.
