    I guess if he were 23 instead of 26 I would be more ho hum about it. But I don't get grabbing a medocre minor league pitcher who is 26???

    He was good enough that the Yankees came calling. And it wasn't because of his bat necessarily. Hit only 65 bombs in his career. Was a decent hitter though.

    You can make a decent case that Gibson has been better than both Santana and Berrios since the All star break. That's a fairly decent stretch 12 to 13 starts. Gibson is 7 - 3 and like a 3.58 ERA Santana is 5 - 2 with a 3.87 ERA. Berrios has not been very good at all since the All Star break. Actually he has had some good games just not consistent.

    Pressly right now even with his bad stretch has a 1.05 WHIP he should probably be closing.

    That's a little scary, you could have half the write up done, could you imagine if things turned for the worse?? You'd have to start some of it all over.

    Are they really going to run Belisle out there in the ninth?? I mean he's like ancient, why not play someone there that could be a closer of the future.

    I think for the Twins to compete next year, which they could, they need to sign one big free agent SP this off season and maybe a cheaper scrap heap starter also for depth. Try the young guys that they have in the bull pen, a few of them should exceed expectations, if not get a RP at the end of spring training. But they have to spend on at least one good starter.

    I wouldn't mind seeing them try out Pressly as the closer. He has the stuff, he has pitched better as of late, he grades out as a closer, put him in the spot and see if he runs with it. He might all of the sudden blossom, I think it's better to try that rather than put Rodgers or Belisel in there.

    It happened in Animal House. John Belushi's character was trying to rally the troops. He didn't want 9 years of college to go down the drain

    Not only that, but if you trade him and get a minor leaguer where there isn't any guarantee then you need to go out and sign a FA to replace him in the rotation, who by the way, will most likely be more expensive than Santana.

    Well I felt the same way, even though the Twins had leads in some of these games I certainly did not feel confident that they were going to win any of them. However, I know he hasn't provided a lot with the bar, more so lately than early in the season, but missing Buxton has affected the Twins in the field for sure, I know I have seen a couple of low flairs that Granite let fall for base hits that I'm 100 percent sure Buxton would have tried to make a play on and about 80 percent sure he would have made that play. Which if a couple of those plays makes a difference of a run or two then the Twin probably pull an extra win vs both the tigers and the dodgers. Also missing Sano the last couple I feel also hurt. So missing those two guys probably hurt more than we think. Also they can trade after the deadline, just have to pass them through waivers first. Guys not under contract like Gimenez or Kintzler could pass through more easily than guys under contract like Santana and Dozier, so moves can still be made after Monday. Last, even with Gonsalves and Romero and guys like that there is no guarantee that they can pitch in the MLB, god I hope they all can that would be awesome, but until they prob that they can I'd keep Santana. If you get rid of him and all those guys bomb, the twins wouldn't be too far from losing 100 again. I mean if the youngsters bomb your 3rd best pitcher would be Gibson, assuming that Santana is traded and Garcia, Colon etc all leave. That is scary

    Well if they call up Jennifer Garner then team morale might pick up a little bit?

    Yes, I too sometimes wonder what free agents think about going to Minnesota? They have a long history of dumping people, they did quite well with free agents back in the late 80's and early 90's, (Jack Morris, Don Baylor, Chili Davis, etc....) but I can't think of any real good ones as of late, except the big singings of Nolasco, Hughes, and Santana

    I would probably be in the stand Pat group, it seems to me that for the Twins to get better they need a starting pitcher, a la Gray. Their everyday lineup is young and talented, so I don't see where they would waist thier time trading for a position players. The big issue with getting that solid starter is after the Quintana deal, do they have enough to actually get a guy like that?? If not then get a small piece for the bull pen and go with what you have.

    I mean they keep starting Gibson? Albeit he's had a few decent ones lately, but Colon probably won't do any worse that what Gibby has done most of the year. I mean if Colon strings together 2 or 3 decent starts and his Era will be around 6 also?

    I personlly think Rosario could be better than a 4th OFer, he has made strides, but boneheadedness probably doesn't need a measurement, because if a player continues to do boneheaded things then they end up looking for another job. I mean Ryan Leaf spent a few years and kept doing boneheaded things and eventually they gave up on him. I also believe Rosario is hitting better than Gomez did when Gomez was here.

    I think Eddie has done a good job at the plate, considering what we thought he would do, he has been clutch at times and not so clutch at other times, but offensively he's done well for a 7th or 8th spot in the lineup. But....... I imagine that the coaches have probably talked to him about hitting the cut off more than once??? I mean I see a bloop single last night, the Yankees baserunner is going for 3rd and maybe if he was in perfect position, such as moving towards 3rd when he gets the ball etc... Fine go for it, but the ball was hit slowly, Rosario is running towards 2nd to field the ball and then has to do a spinning 360 in order to get anything on the throw to 3rd which allows the guy who hit the bloop single to go all the way to 2nd. I mean at the point where you have to do a spinning 360, that should set something off in your mind that you should prob hit the cut off?? I'm sure the coaching staff just had to look at him when he walked into the dugout. Like what the F was that? Even Sano looked at him when he fielded the ball, like what are you doing??

    Pretty sure Molly knew how to bunt when he was playing? Not sure why no one can do it anymore. I wonder if Rod Carew was the manager if guys in today's game could bunt still or if it's more of that guys just don't bunt anymore so when they need to, they just can't??

    Kepler had an amazing run last summer, that showed that he could be someone special, I think he will put up great numbers that will continue to improve for the next 4 - 5 years.

    Yeah the guys who have won things like triple crowns, it's hard with all of these new stats to tell if they were really that valuable to their team or not

    I didn't see an issue with bringing him over, I would have like to see Gee called up before Bartolo, so as to let Bartolo get at least one more minor league start under his belt before coming up. It seems like Gee has done pretty much everything he has been asked to do, give him at least a shot, he has done ok in the past too. I hope Bartolo does good, I'd like to see him rekindle a little of that Mojo he had working with the Mets last year. Pretty sure he has the same crap he had last year when he was 43, just needs to find it.
