  1. We're not getting out of this inning with the lead. Edit: honestly shouldn't have come out for the 3rd.
  2. Morneau: "I think Geloff was surprised he still had time. "
  3. If by "go deep" you mean "get through the 3rd" I agree.
  4. Except Kepler saw it all the way. He just whiffed.
  5. Thought that was a 3 run shot. Meada doesn't look very good.
  6. LHer with an ERA over 6.5 and a WHIP near 1.9. He goes 6?
  7. Didn't we draft an IFer from Arizona State Sunday? Get his ass up here.
  8. What? Coming out of the AS break? Odd, to say the least.
  9. My last multi-city trip was Chicago (south side...yeesh), Detroit (VERY nice), and Milwaukee. Caught the Twins in 2 of 3, too.
  10. They will because I always ask Canadian Border Patrol if they know how to spell Canada... C, eh? N, eh? D, eh? Totally slays, every time. It's getting back into the States that requires ingenuity.
  11. I need six yet. Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Philly, Toronto, Cincinnati, and the Mets. .. Heh. Then start over.
  12. Whether or not Molitor would be a good hitting coach--or would want the job--there's no chance he's put in that dugout as long as Rocco is managing. You don't undermine the current manager by putting the former one in the dugout. That would be a terrible position to put Rocco in. It would be viewed by everyone as a direct threat to Rocco's job.
  13. I have a bucket list item of getting to every major league team's home field. Working on it, haven't been to Pittsburgh.
  14. Center field tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. 5 or 6 days a week.
  15. Your definition of value has merit, but it's not the BBWAA definition of MVP. Maybe that's the disconnect here.
  16. I don't know who should be the new hitting coach. But this much I DO know. When -outcomes are this putrid, -the manager goes on a rant about how things have to change, and -the hitters decide not inviting the hitting coach to the hitter's meeting is a potential solution, it's long past time for a change.
  17. I'm pretty reluctant to cut the FO any slack regarding Kepler and Gallo. I think they're achieving pretty much exactly what SHOULD HAVE been forecast. Maybe even a little more than an honest forecast in Gallo's case, considering his tank jobs in NY and LA. Kepler actually has a slightly higher OPS than last year, as well. He's been an above average hitter in 2019 and 2020s 60 game season. That's it. Nobody in the FO should be surprised. Disappointed, ok. But these outcomes should have been smack dab in the middle of any forecast range.
  18. Great points...except... I don't think you're getting anything for Gallo or Kepler even IF you pay their salaries I mean, if they can't help THIS offense, which contender has a need for them?
  19. If we get to wait until seeing the result of a PA before deciding which is best, then I choose homers. They're better than everything else. But if we're talking about PAs that haven't happened yet, and choosing between Ks and balls in play, give me balls in play. As an outcome, they're better than Ks, even if sometimes a ball in play results in 2 or 3 outs. Disagree? Let's have a computer sequence 1000 consecutive random balls in play, restarting every third out, and 1000 Ks, again restarting after every third out, and see which results in more runs scored.
  20. I'd start by DFAing Gallo. I'd have done that a while ago. .167/.281/.368 since May 1. Yeesh. Not to mention the damage to my blood pressure watching him K 3 times per evening. And I've already had to replace my TV twice (after a Corona bottle somehow "shattered" the screen at 80 MPH following a yet another failed RBI opportunity from a swing and a miss at a shoulder high FB.)
  21. Gallo certainly has more pop, but he doesn't "get on base" more than Kepler. 2023 OBP Kepler .300 Gallo .302 Gallo draws more walks, Kepler gets a few more hits.
  22. Agree on the published criteria for MVP. But I don't think Miranda has played enough to be "LVP." I guess you can argue he hasn't played enough BECAUSE he's been so bad, but for my money, Buxton has been "least valuable." He's got the 2nd most PAs, has just 54 hits and has a paltry 34 RBI batting in a production spot all year, all while providing zero defensive contribution. Not a single inning. He's been as responsible for the mediocre W/L record as anyone on the team. Massive playing time, dismal results.
