    Couldn't agree more. "Getting to the big leagues" means zilch towards winning. Every team needs 26 players, 28 in September. Every team is going to call up rookies on occasion. That's nothing to celebrate as a fan. Or at the least, a poor measure of organizational "success." Developing players that get to the big leagues, stick, and outperform others is the trick. "Success" is building players that win championships.

    Both moves were backdated to their initial placement on the 10 day IL, and basically procedural to open spots on the 40 man. Larnach has already spent more than 60 days on the IL and can be activated when/if healthy. Jeffers went on the IL mid July and would be eligible mid September, but I think the latest I read said they were hoping for late September.

Fullmer ... haven't exactly gone as envisioned. ... I know, let's add Billy Hamilton! His ONLY skill is speed! Speed can't possibly go into a slump! What could go wrong??!?"

    No. I don't think that's "fair." I think that's quite the stretch, actually. We can be pleased with Miranda without inventing comparisons.

    While I despise sac bunting most of the time, there are specific situations where I would call for it. I would have asked Arraez to bunt in the 9th last night. But I don't think it's clearcut, letting him hit away is defensible too. If he HAD successfully busted, I doubt Correa gets to hit. The Gordon double irks me to no end. Just cannot get thrown out at third there. That IS clear cut, incontrovertible, indefensible. I will be in the minority here, but I don't trust Moran. He doesn't look ready to me to pitch in the big leagues.

    Yeah, also Chuck Knoblauch, Rod Carew, Kent Hrbek, Francisco Liriano, Marty Cordova, just off the top of my head. Also, "one of the best seasons in prospect history?" A "ridiculous .838 OPS?" This article might have had a point, but I can't get past the hyperbole.

    I guess I can sorta understand how Lewis might factor into the decision whether or not to bring back Urshela. Sorta. But Kirilloff? Buxton??? The decision revolves around handing 3rd to Miranda and spending the $8-$9M elsewhere, or not.

    A nice, relatively comfortable win. I rather enjoy those. Nitpic: bullpen usage chart missing 11 pitches from Lopez today .

    I'm glad we stole a W. But...We gave up a run in the top of the 9th in a 1-0 game...and neither Duran nor Lopez had left the bullpen. That's just bad managing.

    Concur. But Urshela just doesn't move the needle. Like someone said above, he's a 3rd Baseman on a 2nd division team. Somebody has to play there. Miranda might not be the answer, but it's worth a shot. He's got upside.

    Miranda should be the starting 3rd baseman next year. No on Urshela.

    Can we take that as an indictment of the front office? They provide the players. The depth. The hitters and pitchers.
