  1. "Yes, it is possible for a win to feel gross." Hahaha...precisely.
  2. I agree, but "moneyball" (shorthand for analytics) most certainly does not. I don't believe this, but one of the tenets of current modern analytics is that neither pitchers nor hitters can control "balls in play." "Everyone's BABIP will regress to the mean." Quality of contact isn't controllable. That's one of the basic principles of FIP, for example. Ignore balls in play, because pitchers have no control over them.
  3. I think Oakland is starting another lefty, if so, I expect so.
  4. Winnah. Feels more like a loss, somehow. But. Winnah.
  5. Duran has been pretty ... unremarkable for a while now.
  6. Ha. No. He's obviously reading TD and using my analysis.
  7. Julien is an adventure on every ball he touches.
  8. Happy Gallo gets the go-ahead dinger. Sad it'll buy him another 100 PAs.
  9. At least we haven't burned through the pen.
  10. When evaluating umps MLB gives a "buffer zone" around the edges. Pitches in this area are not considered "missed calls." For the record, I don't think either actually depict whether or not a pitched baseball crosses through the three dimensional strike zone
  11. I really thought the team would make SOME change over the AS break. Something. Fire the hitting coach. Get one of Kepler or Gallo out of the lineup. Something. Nope.
  12. The Twins were oh so close to tying a MLB record that could never be broken. They left 8 men on base in 3 innings.
  13. Close, but no. ... "Steamed vegetable. "
