    Ask yourself this question: "Why did SF's offer to Correa exceed the Twins' offer by 65 million dollars?" There must have been another (other) offer(s). over the $285 million, in order for the Giants to pay that much more than the Twins' offered. Therefore I bet $285 million was not the second highest offer which Correa received. But you live and learn (hopefully). Now about the Twins pitching....

    Based on what I read, Vasquez will be a good veteran clubhouse presence. Buck and Gray seem to be a good leaders. I do agree that positive veteran leadership is important to any ballclub. I'm sorry it won't be Correa.

    I don't think this is a good idea for the Twins to trade for Crawford. If the Giants are ready to move Crawford off SS at age 36, they are going to love Correa when he is 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, and 41.

    Thanks for writing about what many of us (most of us) TD members are feeling today. We will get over it. We will survive. We're Twins fans. Where the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children are slightly above average.

    Sometimes in life, it is best not to get what you want. We all want the Twins players to want to play for the Twins. But in reality, who can blame Correa for getting an additional 65 million dollars, although it will be spread out. If I had the knowledge and skills, I could figure the present day cost of both the Twins' offer and the Giants' offer, and the difference in present day dollars would be less than 65 million. Inflation is a double edged sword. It's not really 285 million vs. 350 million. But I do want to congratulate Carlos Correa and wish him well in his life. And I hope the Giants regret paying this much money for the next two decades.

    We will know soon enough. Hopefully C-4 will be a player for the Twins for a long time. By the way, I used to cook c-rations with C-4, which we removed from our claymore mines. Just light a teaspoon sized chunk of C-4 on the ground, fold back the metal top to the c-ration can and use the folded top for a handle and hold your can over the small hot flame, constantly stirring the contents so they won't burn and in a short time the food would be hot. Ham and limas, canned ham and eggs, pork and beans, canned mystery meat. Not too tasty, but provided energy.

    Kep hits everything toward the right side. That right-field corner would look might inviting to Kep. But those frequent Yankee trips to Toronto may be a problem for Kep.

    I was so glad to read your excellent article, which contained great stats. Vasquez is my kind of catcher. The Twins pitchers should be ecstatic. Now if only the Twins pitchers had a Platinum Glove or Gold Glove SS AND a healthy Platinum Glove CF to make some great fielding plays behind the ecstatic Twins pitchers.

    Eleven Defensive Runs Saved last year, tied Vasquez with Realmuto in 4th place among catchers plus an extremely quick pop time release, plus a good veteran clubhouse presence, who has been on two WS Championship teams...that's my kind of catcher. Great signing FO. Thank you.

    Winning attracts winners. The Twins must start winning consistently and pay accordingly. I submit the Twins must over pay in order to prime the pump of winners wanting to come to Minnesota to play with other winners. Once the Twins become like the Yankees or the Dodgers, who are consistent winners, other winners will want to come to Minnesota to play baseball.

    Why to delay in getting the most critical need which the Twins have for 2023, a catcher?

    I really enjoy Arraez as a hitter and an exciting player. I enjoy his positive interviews. However if we could get a young catcher who can hit some and play good defense, with a strong arm and call a great game, then trade Arraez for the catcher now. Catching is the Twins current weakest position on the major league team and the current weakest position among the Twins' prospects. Trade Arraez for a catcher and then draft some catchers.

    I heard that I guy I know, told my brother-in-law at the barber shop, who told his barber to remind my barber to tell me that there was a rumor that the Twins are trading Arraez for Lopez as early as Saturday.
